Mark 9
1 And he said to them, Verily I say to you, that there are some of them that stand here who shall not taste death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Il leur disait encore: En vérité, je vous le dis, il y en a parmi ceux ici présents qui ne goûteront pas de la mort, qu’ils n’aient vu le royaume de Dieu venant dans sa puissance.
2 And after six days, Jesus taketh [with him] Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up upon a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them.
Six jours après, Jésus prit Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et il les conduisit seuls à l’écart sur une haute montagne, et il fut transfiguré devant eux.
3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can whiten them.
Ses vêtements devinrent resplendissants et très blancs comme la neige, d’une blancheur telle, qu’aucun foulon sur la terre ne pourrait l’égaler.
4 And there appeared to them Elijah, with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
Et Elie leur apparut avec Moïse; et ils s’entretenaient avec Jésus.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Alors, prenant la parole, Pierre dit à Jésus: Maître, il nous est bon d’être ici. Faisons trois tentes, une pour vous, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie.
6 For he knew not what to say: for they were greatly terrified.
Car il ne savait ce qu’il disait, parce qu’ils étaient saisis de crainte.
7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.
Cependant il se fit une nuée qui les couvrit de son ombre; et il vint de la nuée une voix disant: Celui-ci est mon fils bien-aimé; écoutez-le.
8 And suddenly, when they had looked around, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.
Et aussitôt, regardant tout autour, ils ne virent plus personne, si ce n’est Jésus seul avec eux.
9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead.
Mais lorsqu’ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur commanda de ne raconter à personne ce qu’ils avaient vu, jusqu’à ce que le Fils de l’homme fût ressuscité d’entre les morts.
10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean.
Et ils gardèrent cette parole en eux-mêmes, se demandant ce que voulait dire: Jusqu’à ce qu’il fût ressuscité d’entre les morts.
11 And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elijah must first come?
Et ils l’interrogeaient, disant: Pourquoi donc les pharisiens et les scribes disent-ils qu’il faut qu’Elie vienne auparavant?
12 And he answered and told them, Elijah verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written concerning the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at naught.
Jésus répondant, leur dit: Elie viendra auparavant, et il rétablira toutes choses; et, comme il est écrit du Fils de l’homme, il faudra qu’il souffre beaucoup et qu’il soit rejeté avec mépris.
13 But I say to you, that Elijah is indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they pleased, as it is written concerning him.
Mais je vous dis qu’Elie est déjà venu (et ils lui ont fait tout ce qu’ils ont voulu), ainsi qu’il est écrit de lui.
14 And when he came to [his] disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.
Et venant vers ses disciples, il vit une grande foule autour d’eux, et des scribes disputant avec eux.
15 And immediately all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to [him], saluted him.
Aussitôt tout le peuple apercevant Jésus, fut saisi d’étonnement et de frayeur; et, accourant, ils le saluaient.
16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?
Alors il leur demanda: De quoi disputez-vous ensemble?
17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a dumb spirit;
Et un homme de la foule prenant la parole, dit: Maître, je vous ai amené mon fils, qui a en lui un esprit muet;
18 And wherever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples that they should cast him out, and they could not.
Lequel, partout où il s’empare de lui, le brise contre terre, et l’enfant écume, grince des dents, et il se dessèche. J’ai dit à vos disciples de le chasser, mais ils ne l’ont pu.
19 He answered him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer you? bring him to me.
Jésus, s’adressant à eux, dit: Ô race incrédule, jusqu’à quand serai-je avec vous? jusqu’à quand vous supporterai-je? Amenez-le-moi.
20 And they brought him to him: and when he saw him, immediately the spirit tore him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed, foaming.
Et ils le lui amenèrent. Or sitôt qu’il eut vu Jésus, l’esprit le tourmenta; et, brisé contre terre, il se roulait en écumant.
21 And he asked his father, How long is it since this came to him? and he said, From a child.
Jésus demanda à son père: Combien y a-t-il de temps que cela lui arrive? Depuis son enfance, dit le père.
22 And often it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
Souvent il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l’eau pour le faire périr; mais si vous pouvez quelque chose, ayez pitié de nous et secourez-nous.
23 Jesus said to him, If thou canst believe, all things [are] possible to him that believeth.
Jésus lui dit: Si tu peux croire, tout est possible à celui qui croit.
24 And immediately the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou my unbelief.
Et aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écria, disant avec larmes: Je crois, Seigneur; aidez mon incrédulité.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying to him, [Thou] dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
Et Jésus voyant une foule qui accourait, menaça l’esprit impur, lui disant: Esprit sourd et muet, je te le commande, sors de cet enfant et n’y rentre plus.
26 And [the spirit] cried, and rent him severely, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; so that many said, He is dead.
Et poussant un grand cri et le déchirant violemment, il sortit de l’enfant qui devint comme mort; de sorte que beaucoup disaient: Il est mort.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
Mais Jésus, prenant sa main et le soulevant, il se leva.
28 And when he had come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
Et lorsque Jésus fut entré dans une maison, ses disciples lui demandèrent en secret: Pourquoi, nous, n’avons-nous pu le chasser?
29 And he said to them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Il leur dit: Ce genre de démons ne peut se chasser que par la prière et le jeûne.
30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know [it].
Etant partis de là, ils traversèrent la Galilée; et il ne voulait pas que personne le sût.
31 For he taught his disciples, and said to them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and after that he is killed, he will rise the third day.
Cependant il instruisait ses disciples, et leur disait: Le Fils de l’homme sera livré entre les mains des hommes, et ils le tueront, et le troisième jour après sa mort, il ressuscitera.
32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.
Mais ils ne comprenaient point cette parole, et ils craignaient de l’interroger.
33 And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house, he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
Ils vinrent ensuite à Capharnaüm; et, lorsqu’ils furent dans la maison, il leur demanda: Que discutiez-vous en chemin?
34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who [should be] the greatest.
Et ils se taisaient, parce que dans le chemin ils avaient disputé ensemble qui d’entre eux était le plus grand.
35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith to them, If any man desireth to be first, [the same] shall be last of all, and servant of all.
Et, s’étant assis, il appela les douze, et leur dit: Si quelqu’un veut être le premier, il sera le dernier de tous et le serviteur de tous.
36 And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said to them,
Puis, prenant un enfant, il le mit au milieu d’eux; et après l’avoir embrassé, il leur dit:
37 Whoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
Quiconque reçoit en mon nom un petit enfant comme celui-ci, me reçoit; et quiconque me reçoit, reçoit non pas moi, mais celui qui m’a envoyé.
38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and he followeth not us; and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.
Jean, prenant la parole, lui dit: Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un qui chassait les démons en votre nom, et qui ne nous suit pas, et nous l’en avons empêché.
39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not; for there is no man who shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.
Mais Jésus leur répondit: Ne l’en empêchez point; car il n’y a personne qui fasse un miracle en mon nom, et qui puisse incontinent mal parler de moi;
40 For he that is not against us, is on our part.
Car qui n’est pas contre vous, est pour vous.
41 For whoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
Et quiconque vous donnera un verre d’eau en mon nom, parce que vous êtes au Christ, en vérité, je vous le dis, il ne perdra point sa récompense.
42 And whoever shall cause one of [these] little ones that believe in me, to fall into sin, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Mais quiconque scandalisera un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui que l’on mît autour de son cou une meule de moulin, et qu’on le jetât dans la mer.
43 And if thy hand causeth thee to fall into sin, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Geenna g1067)
Que si votre main vous scandalise, coupez-la: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer dans la vie, privé d’une main, que d’aller, ayant deux mains, dans la géhenne du feu qui ne peut s’éteindre, (Geenna g1067)
44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
45 And if thy foot causeth thee to fall into sin, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Geenna g1067)
Et si votre pied vous scandalise, coupez-le: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer, privé d’un pied, dans la vie éternelle, que d’être jeté, ayant deux pieds, dans la géhenne du feu qui ne peut s’éteindre, (Geenna g1067)
46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
47 And if thy eye causeth thee to fall into sin, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell-fire. (Geenna g1067)
Que si votre œil vous scandalise, arrachez-le: il vaut mieux pour vous entrer, privé d’un œil, dans le royaume de Dieu, que d’être jeté, ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne du feu, (Geenna g1067)
48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Où leur ver ne meurt point, et leur feu ne s’éteint pas.
49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
Car tous seront salés par le feu, comme toute victime doit être salée par le sel.
50 Salt [is] good: but if the salt hath lost its saltness, with what will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.
Le sel est bon; mais si le sel perd sa vertu, avec quoi l’assaisonnerez-vous? Ayez du sel en vous, et conservez la paix entre vous.
