Luke 4
1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto
2 Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, he was afterward hungry.
durante cuarenta días, siendo tentado por el diablo. No comió nada en esos días. Después, cuando terminaron, tuvo hambre.
3 And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
El diablo le dijo: “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, ordena que esta piedra se convierta en pan”.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Jesús le contestó diciendo: “Está escrito que no sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra de Dios”.
5 And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
El diablo, llevándolo a un monte alto, le mostró en un momento todos los reinos del mundo.
6 And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it.
El diablo le dijo: “Te daré toda esta autoridad y su gloria, porque me ha sido entregada, y la doy a quien quiero.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
Por tanto, si adoras ante mí, todo será tuyo”.
8 And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Jesús le respondió: “¡Quítate de encima, Satanás! Porque está escrito: ‘Al Señor tu Dios adorarás y a él sólo servirás’”.
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence.
Lo condujo a Jerusalén, lo puso en el pináculo del templo y le dijo: “Si eres el Hijo de Dios, échate de aquí,
10 For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
porque está escrito, Pondrá a sus ángeles a cargo de ti, para que te guarden;’
11 And in [their] hands they will bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
y, En sus manos te llevarán, para que no tropieces con una piedra”.
12 And Jesus answering, said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: “Se ha dicho que no tentarás al Señor tu Dios”.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
Cuando el demonio hubo completado todas las tentaciones, se alejó de él hasta otro momento.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the surrounding region.
Jesús regresó con el poder del Espíritu a Galilea, y la noticia sobre él se extendió por todos los alrededores.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
Enseñaba en sus sinagogas, siendo glorificado por todos.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath, and stood up to read.
Llegó a Nazaret, donde se había criado. Entró, como era su costumbre, en la sinagoga en el día de reposo, y se puso de pie para leer.
17 And there was delivered to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Se le entregó el libro del profeta Isaías. Abrió el libro y encontró el lugar donde estaba escrito,
18 The spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
“El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, porque me ha ungido para predicar la buena nueva a los pobres. Me ha enviado a sanar a los corazonesrotos, para proclamar la liberación de los cautivos, recuperar la vista de los ciegos, para liberar a los oprimidos,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
y proclamar el año de gracia del Señor.”
20 And he closed the book, and he gave [it] again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
Cerró el libro, se lo devolvió al asistente y se sentó. Los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él.
21 And he began to say to them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Comenzó a decirles: “Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura ante vosotros”.
22 And all bore him testimony, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?
Todos daban testimonio de él y se asombraban de las palabras de gracia que salían de su boca, y decían: “¿No es éste el hijo de José?”
23 And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
Les dijo: “Seguramente me dirán este proverbio: “¡Médico, cúrate a ti mismo! Todo lo que hemos oído hacer en Cafarnaúm, hazlo también aquí en tu pueblo”.
24 And he said, Verily I say to you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
Él dijo: “De cierto os digo que ningún profeta es aceptable en su ciudad natal.
25 But I tell you in truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut three years and six months when great famine was throughout all the land:
Pero en verdad os digo que había muchas viudas en Israel en los días de Elías, cuando el cielo estuvo cerrado durante tres años y seis meses, cuando sobrevino una gran hambruna en toda la tierra.
26 But to none of them was Elijah sent, save to Sarepta, [a city] of Sidon, to a woman [that was] a widow.
A ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a Sarepta, en la tierra de Sidón, a una mujer que era viuda.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.
Había muchos leprosos en Israel en tiempos del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, excepto Naamán, el sirio.”
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,
Todos se llenaron de ira en la sinagoga al oír estas cosas.
29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.
Se levantaron, le echaron fuera de la ciudad y le llevaron a la cima del monte sobre el que estaba edificada su ciudad, para arrojarle por el precipicio.
30 But he passing through the midst of them, went away,
Pero él, pasando por en medio de ellos, siguió su camino.
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days.
Bajó a Capernaúm, una ciudad de Galilea. Les enseñaba en sábado,
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
y se asombraban de su enseñanza, porque su palabra era con autoridad.
33 And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice,
En la sinagoga había un hombre que tenía un espíritu de demonio inmundo; y gritaba a gran voz,
34 Saying, Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
diciendo: “¡Ah! ¿Qué tenemos que ver contigo, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios”.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.
Jesús le reprendió diciendo: “¡Cállate y sal de él!”. Cuando el demonio lo arrojó en medio de ellos, salió de él, sin hacerle ningún daño.
36 And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word [is] this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.
El asombro se apoderó de todos y hablaban entre sí, diciendo: “¿Qué es esta palabra? Porque con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus inmundos, y salen”.
37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the surrounding country.
La noticia sobre él se difundió por todos los lugares de la región circundante.
38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And the mother of Simon's wife was taken with a violent fever; and they besought him for her.
Se levantó de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón estaba afligida por una gran fiebre, y le rogaron que la ayudara.
39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered to them.
Él se puso al lado de ella, reprendió la fiebre y la dejó. Al instante se levantó y les sirvió.
40 Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
Cuando se puso el sol, todos los que tenían algún enfermo de diversas enfermedades se los trajeron, y él puso las manos sobre cada uno de ellos y los curó.
41 And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking [them], suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
También salieron demonios de muchos, gritando y diciendo: “¡Tú eres el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios!” Reprendiéndolos, no les permitió hablar, porque sabían que él era el Cristo.
42 And when it was day, he departed, and went into a desert place; and the people sought him, and came to him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
Cuando se hizo de día, partió y se fue a un lugar despoblado, y las multitudes lo buscaban y se acercaban a él, para que no se alejara de ellos.
43 And he said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, for therefore am I sent.
Pero él les dijo: “Es necesario que anuncie la buena noticia del Reino de Dios también en las demás ciudades. Para esto he sido enviado”.
44 And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
Estaba predicando en las sinagogas de Galilea.
