Leviticus 22
1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse:
2 Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name [in those things] which they hallow to me: I [am] the LORD.
"Avertis Aaron et ses fils d’être circonspects à l’égard des saintetés des enfants d’Israël, pour ne pas profaner mon saint nom en profanant ce que ceux-ci me consacrent: je suis l’Éternel.
3 Say to them, Whoever [he may be] of all your seed among your generations, that approacheth the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow to the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I [am] the LORD.
Dis-leur: à l’avenir, quiconque de toute votre famille, étant en état de souillure, s’approcherait des saintetés que les enfants d’Israël consacrent à l’Éternel, cette personne sera retranchée de devant moi: je suis l’Éternel.
4 Whatever man of the seed of Aaron [is] a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he is clean. And whoever toucheth any thing [that is] unclean [by] the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him;
Tout individu de la race d’Aaron, atteint de lèpre ou de flux, ne mangera pas de choses saintes qu’il ne soit devenu pur. De même, celui qui touche à une personne souillée par un cadavre, ou celui qui a laissé échapper de la matière séminale,
5 Or whoever toucheth any creeping animal, by which he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatever uncleanness he hath:
ou celui qui aurait touché à quelque reptile de nature à le souiller, ou à un homme qui lui aurait communiqué une impureté quelconque:
6 The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he shall wash his flesh with water.
la personne qui y touche devant rester souillée jusqu’au soir, le pontife ne mangera rien des choses saintes qu’il n’ait baigné son corps dans l’eau.
7 And when the sun is set, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things, because it [is] his food.
Après le soleil couché, il deviendra pur; et alors il pourra jouir des choses saintes, car elles sont sa subsistance.
8 That which dieth of itself, or is torn [by beasts], he shall not eat to defile himself with it: I [am] the LORD.
Une bête morte ou déchirée, il n’en mangera point, elle le rendrait impur: je suis l’Éternel.
9 They shall therefore keep my ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.
Qu’ils respectent mon observance et ne s’exposent pas, à cause d’elle, à un péché, car ils mourraient pour l’avoir violée: je suis l’Éternel qui les sanctifie.
10 There shall no stranger eat [of] the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat [of] the holy thing.
Nul profane ne mangera d’une chose sainte; celui qui habite chez un pontife ou est salarié par lui, ne mangera point d’une chose sainte.
11 But if the priest shall buy [any] soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.
Mais si un pontife a acheté une personne à prix d’argent, elle pourra en manger; et les esclaves nés chez lui, ceux-là aussi mangeront de son pain.
12 If the priest's daughter also shall be [married] to a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.
Si la finie d’un prêtre est mariée à un profane, elle ne mangera point des saintes offrandes.
13 But if the priest's daughter shall be a widow, or divorced, and shall have no child, and have returned to her father's house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's meat; but there shall no stranger eat of it.
Si cette fille de pontife devient veuve ou est divorcée, qu’elle n’ait point de postérité, et qu’elle retourne à la maison de son père comme en sa jeunesse, elle mangera du pain de son père; mais aucun profane n’en mangera.
14 And if a man shall eat [of] the holy thing unknowingly, then he shall put to it the fifth [part], and shall give [it] to the priest, with the holy thing.
Si quelqu’un avait, par inadvertance, mangé une chose sainte, il en ajoutera le cinquième en sus, qu’il donnera au pontife avec la chose sainte.
15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel which they offer to the LORD;
Ils ne doivent pas laisser profaner les saintetés des enfants d’Israël, ce dont ils font hommage à l’Éternel,
16 Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
et faire peser sur eux un délit punissable, alors qu’ils consommeraient leurs propres saintetés; car c’est moi, l’Éternel, qui les sanctifie."
17 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
18 Speak to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel, and say to them, Whoever [he may be] of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his free-will-offerings, which they will offer to the LORD for a burnt-offering:
"parie à Aaron et à ses fils, ainsi qu’à tous les enfants d’Israël, et dis-leur: qui que ce soit de la maison d’Israël, ou parmi les étrangers en Israël, qui voudra présenter son offrande, par suite de quelque vœu ou don volontaire de leur part; s’ils l’offrent à l’Éternel comme holocauste,
19 [Ye shall offer] at your own will a male without blemish of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats.
pour être agréés, prenez-la sans défaut, mâle, parmi le gros bétail, les brebis ou les chèvres.
20 [But] whatever hath a blemish, [that] shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.
Tout animal qui aurait un défaut, ne l’offrez point; car il ne sera pas agréé de votre part.
21 And whoever offereth a sacrifice of peace-offerings to the LORD to accomplish [his] vow, or a free-will-offering in beeves, or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted: there shall be in it no blemish.
De même, si quelqu’un veut offrir une victime rémunératoire à l’Éternel, par suite d’un vœu particulier ou d’un don volontaire, dans le gros ou dans le menu bétail, cette victime, pour être agréée, doit être irréprochable, n’avoir aucun défaut.
22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these to the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar to the LORD.
Une bête aveugle, estropiée ou mutilée, affectée de verrues, de gale sèche ou humide, vous ne les offrirez point à l’Éternel, et vous n’en ferez rien brûler sur l’autel en son honneur.
23 Either a bullock, or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer [for] a free-will-offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.
Si une grosse ou une menue bête a un membre trop long ou trop court, tu pourras l’employer comme offrande volontaire, mais comme offrande votive elle ne serait point agréée.
24 Ye shall not offer to the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make [any offering thereof] in your land.
Celle qui a les testicules froissés, écrasés, rompus ou coupés, ne l’offrez point à l’Éternel, et dans votre pays ne faites point pareille chose.
25 Neither from a stranger's hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption [is] in them, [and] blemishes [are] in them: they shall not be accepted for you.
De la part même d’un étranger vous n’offrirez aucun de ces animaux comme aliment à votre Dieu; car ils ont subi une mutilation, ils sont défectueux, vous ne les feriez point agréer."
26 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire to the LORD.
"Lorsqu’un veau, un agneau ou un chevreau vient de naître, il doit rester sept jours auprès de sa mère; à partir du huitième jour seulement, il sera propre à être offert en sacrifice à l’Éternel.
28 And [whether it is] cow, or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.
Crosse ou menue bête, vous n’égorgerez point ranimai avec son petit le même jour.
29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, offer it at your own will.
Quand vous ferez un sacrifice de reconnaissance à l’Éternel, faites ce sacrifice de manière à être agréés.
30 On the same day it shall be eaten up, ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I [am] the LORD.
Il devra être consommé le jour même, vous n’en laisserez rien pour le lendemain: je suis l’Éternel.
31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I [am] the LORD.
Gardez mes commandements et pratiquez-les: je suis l’Éternel.
32 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I [am] the LORD who hallow you,
Ne déshonorez point mon saint nom, afin que je sois sanctifié au milieu des enfants d’Israël, moi, l’Éternel, qui vous sanctifie,
33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I [am] the LORD.
qui vous ai fait sortir du pays d’Egypte pour devenir votre Dieu: je suis l’Éternel."
