Lamentations 3
1 I [am] the man [that] hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
Ich bin der Mann, der Elend erlebt hat durch die Rute seines Zornes;
2 He hath led me, and brought [me into] darkness, but not [into] light.
mich hat er geführt und getrieben in Finsternis und tiefes Dunkel;
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand [against me] all the day.
nur gegen mich kehrt er immer wieder seine Hand Tag für Tag!
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
Mein Fleisch und meine Haut hat er hinschwinden lassen, meine Glieder zerschlagen;
5 He hath built against me, and compassed [me] with gall and labor.
aufgetürmt hat er rings um mich Gift und Mühsal;
6 He hath set me in dark places, as [they that are] dead of old.
in Finsternis hat er mich versenkt wie die ewig Toten.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
Er hat mich ummauert, daß ich keinen Ausweg habe, mich mit schweren Ketten beladen;
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
ob ich auch schreie und rufe: er verschließt sich meinem Flehen.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
Er hat meine Wege mit Quadersteinen vermauert, meine Pfade ungangbar gemacht.
10 He [was] to me [as] a bear lying in wait, [and as] a lion in secret places.
Ein lauernder Bär ist er mir gewesen, ein Löwe im Versteck.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.
Er hat mich auf Irrwegen wandeln lassen und mich zerfleischt, mich verstört;
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
er hat seinen Bogen gespannt und mich als Zielscheibe hingestellt für seine Pfeile,
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
hat die Söhne seines Köchers mir ins Herz dringen lassen.
14 I was a derision to all my people; [and] their song all the day.
Meinem ganzen Volk bin ich zum Hohn geworden, ihr Spottlied den ganzen Tag;
15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.
mit Bitternissen hat er mich gesättigt, mit Wermut mich getränkt.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
Meine Zähne hat er mich an Kieseln zerbeißen lassen, mich in den Staub niedergetreten.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.
Du hast meiner Seele den Frieden entrissen, so daß ich verlernt habe, glücklich zu sein,
18 And I said, My strength and my hope hath perished from the LORD:
und ausrufe: »Dahin ist meine Lebenskraft und verloren meine Hoffnung auf den HERRN!«
19 Remembering my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
Gedenke meines Elends und meiner Irrsale, des Wermuts und des Gifts!
20 My soul hath [them] still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
Ohne Unterlaß denkt meine Seele daran und ist gebeugt in mir.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
Dies will ich mir zu Herzen nehmen und darum der Hoffnung leben:
22 [It is of] the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
Die Gnadenerweisungen des HERRN sind noch nicht erschöpft, sein Erbarmen ist noch nicht zu Ende;
23 [They are] new every morning: great [is] thy faithfulness.
alle Morgen sind sie neu, groß ist deine Treue.
24 The LORD [is] my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
»Der HERR ist mein Teil!« bekennt meine Seele; drum will ich auf ihn hoffen.
25 The LORD [is] good to them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
Gütig ist der HERR gegen die, welche auf ihn harren, gegen ein Herz, das ihn sucht.
26 [It is] good that [a man] should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
Gut ist es, geduldig zu sein und schweigend zu warten auf die Hilfe des HERRN.
27 [It is] good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth.
Gut ist es für jeden, das Joch schon in seiner Jugend tragen zu lernen;
28 He sitteth alone, and keepeth silence, because he hath borne [it] upon him.
er sitze einsam und schweige, wenn der HERR es ihm auferlegt!
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if there may be hope.
Er neige seinen Mund in den Staub hinab: vielleicht ist noch Hoffnung vorhanden;
30 He giveth [his] cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
er biete ihm, wenn er ihn schlägt, die Wange dar, lasse sich mit Schmach sättigen!
31 For the LORD will not cast off for ever:
Denn nicht auf ewig verstößt der HERR,
32 But though he causeth grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
sondern, wenn er Trübsal verhängt hat, erbarmt er sich auch wieder nach seiner großen Güte;
33 For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
denn nicht aus Lust plagt und betrübt er die Menschenkinder.
34 To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Wenn man mit Füßen niedertritt alle Gefangenen der Erde,
35 To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
wenn man das Recht eines Mannes beugt vor den Augen des Höchsten,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approveth not.
wenn man einen Menschen in seinem Rechtsstreit ins Unrecht setzt: sollte das der Herr nicht beachten?
37 Who [is] he [that] saith, and it cometh to pass, [when] the LORD commandeth [it] not?
Wer kann denn befehlen, daß etwas geschehe, ohne daß der Herr es geboten hat?
38 Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?
Geht nicht aus dem Munde des Höchsten das Glück wie das Unglück hervor?
39 Why doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
Was klagt (also) der Mensch, solange er lebt? Ein jeder klage über seine Sünden!
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.
Laßt uns unsern Wandel prüfen und erforschen und zum HERRN umkehren!
41 Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands to God in the heavens.
Laßt uns unser Herz mitsamt den Händen erheben zu Gott im Himmel!
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
Wir sind es, die abtrünnig und ungehorsam gewesen sind; du aber hast nicht verziehen,
43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.
hast dich in Zorn gehüllt und uns verfolgt, hingerafft ohne Schonung;
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that [our] prayer should not pass through.
du hast dich in Gewölk gehüllt, so daß kein Gebet hindurchdringen konnte;
45 Thou hast made us [as] the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.
zu Kehricht und zum Abscheu hast du uns gemacht inmitten der Völker.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
Es haben den Mund gegen uns aufgerissen all unsere Feinde;
47 Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.
Grauen und Grube sind uns zuteil geworden, Verwüstung und Untergang!
48 My eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Wasserbäche läßt mein Auge rinnen über die Zertrümmerung der Tochter meines Volkes.
49 My eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
Mein Auge ergießt sich ruhelos in Tränen ohne Aufhören,
50 Till the LORD shall look down, and behold from heaven.
bis der HERR vom Himmel herniederschaue und dareinsehe.
51 My eye affecteth my heart because of all the daughters of my city.
Was ich sehen muß, versetzt mich in Trauer um aller Töchter meiner Stadt willen.
52 My enemies chased me fiercely, like a bird without cause.
Ach! Wie einen Vogel haben die mich gejagt, die mir ohne Ursache feind sind;
53 They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
sie haben mich in die Grube gestoßen, um mein Leben zu vernichten, und haben Steine auf mich geworfen:
54 Waters flowed over my head; [then] I said, I am cut off.
die Wasser schlugen mir über dem Haupt zusammen; ich dachte: »Mit mir ist’s aus!«
55 I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.
Da rief ich deinen Namen an, HERR, tief unten aus der Grube,
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thy ear at my breathing, at my cry.
und du hast mich gehört, als ich zu dir flehte: »Verschließ dein Ohr nicht meinem Hilferuf!«
57 Thou drewest near in the day [that] I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.
Du hast dich mir genaht, als ich dich anrief, hast mir zugerufen: »Fürchte dich nicht!«
58 O LORD, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.
Du, o HERR, hast meine Sache geführt, hast mein Leben gerettet;
59 O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
du, o HERR, hast meine Unbill gesehen: verhilf mir zu meinem Recht!
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance [and] all their imaginations against me.
Du hast all ihre Rachgier gesehen, all ihre Anschläge gegen mich,
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, [and] all their imaginations against me;
hast, o HERR, ihr Schmähen gehört, all ihre Anschläge gegen mich,
62 The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
das Gerede meiner Widersacher und ihre täglichen Ränke gegen mich.
63 Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I [am] their music.
Gib acht auf ihr Sitzen und ihr Aufstehen: ihr Spottlied bin ich!
64 Render to them a recompense, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
Du wirst ihnen vergelten, HERR, wie ihre Taten es verdienen,
65 Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse to them.
wirst ihnen Verblendung ins Herz geben: dein Fluch komme über sie!
66 Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
Du wirst sie im Zorn verfolgen und sie vertilgen unter Gottes Himmel hinweg!
