Judges 3

1 Now these [are] the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, ([even] as many [of Israel] as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

கானானில் எந்த யுத்தங்களிலும் அனுபவமில்லாத இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை சோதிப்பதற்கென, யெகோவா விட்டுவைத்த நாடுகளாவன:

2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing of it; )

யுத்தத்தில் முன்னனுபவமில்லாத இஸ்ரயேலரின் சந்ததிகளுக்கு யுத்த முறையைக் கற்றுக்கொடுக்கவே அவர் இவ்வாறு செய்தார்.

3 [Namely], five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt on mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

அந்த நாடுகளாவன: ஐந்து பெலிஸ்திய ஆளுநர்கள், எல்லா கானானியர், சீதோனியர், பாகால் எர்மோன் மலை தொடங்கி ஆமாத் வரைக்கும் உள்ள லெபனோன் மலைகளில் வாழ்ந்த ஏவியர்கள் ஆகியோரே.

4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken to the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

மோசேயின் மூலம் இஸ்ரயேலரின் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு யெகோவா கொடுத்த அவருடைய கட்டளைகளுக்கு, இஸ்ரயேலர் கீழ்ப்படிகிறார்களா என்று சோதித்துப் பார்ப்பதற்காகவே இவர்கள் விட்டுவைக்கப்பட்டனர்.

5 And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:

இதன்படியே இஸ்ரயேலர் கானானியர், ஏத்தியர், எமோரியர், பெரிசியர், ஏவியர், எபூசியர்கள் மத்தியில் வாழ்ந்துவந்தனர்.

6 And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.

இஸ்ரயேலர் அவர்களுடைய மகள்களைத் தாங்கள் திருமணம் செய்து, தங்கள் மகன்களை அவர்களுடைய மகள்களுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுத்து, அவர்களுடைய தெய்வங்களுக்குப் பணிசெய்தார்கள்.

7 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and forgot the LORD their God, and served Baalim, and the groves.

இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் கொடுமையானவற்றைச் செய்தார்கள். அவர்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனாகிய யெகோவாவை மறந்து, பாகாலுக்கும், அசேரா தெய்வத்திற்கும் பணிசெய்தார்கள்.

8 Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.

இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு எதிராக யெகோவா கோபமடைந்தார். அதனால் அவர் அவர்களை ஆராம் நகராயீமின் அரசன் கூசான் ரிஷாதாயீமின் கையில் விற்றுப்போட்டார். இஸ்ரயேலர் எட்டு வருடங்கள் அவனுக்குக்கீழ் அடங்கி இருந்தனர்.

9 And when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, [even] Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி அழுதபோது, அவர் அவர்களை விடுவிப்பதற்காக விடுதலைவீரனை எழுப்பினார். கேனாசின் மகனும் காலேபின் தம்பியுமான ஒத்னியேலே அவன். அவனே அவர்களை விடுவித்தான்.

10 And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan-rishathaim.

யெகோவாவின் ஆவியானவர் அவன்மேல் வந்தார். அதனால் அவன் இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு நீதிபதியாகி யுத்தத்திற்குப் போனான். யெகோவா மெசொப்பொத்தோமியாவின் அரசன் கூசான் ரிஷாத்தாவை ஒத்னியேல் கையில் கொடுத்தார். ஒத்னியேல் அவனைத் தோற்கடித்தான்.

11 And the land had rest forty years: and Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

கேனாசின் மகன் ஒத்னியேல் இறக்கும்வரை நாற்பது வருடங்கள் நாடு சமாதானமாக இருந்தது.

12 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the LORD.

திரும்பவும் இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவின் பார்வையில் தீமையானதைச் செய்தார்கள், அவர்கள் இந்தத் தீமையைச் செய்ததால் யெகோவா மோவாப்பின் அரசன் எக்லோனை இஸ்ரயேலருக்கு மேலாக பலக்கச் செய்தார்.

13 And he gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm-trees.

எக்லோன் அம்மோனியரையும், அமலேக்கியரையும் தன்னோடு சேர்த்துக் கொண்டுவந்து இஸ்ரயேலரைத் தாக்கினான். அவர்கள் பேரீச்சமரங்களின் பட்டணத்தைக் கைப்பற்றிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

இஸ்ரயேலர்கள் பதினெட்டு வருடங்களாக மோவாப் அரசன் எக்லோனுக்குக்கீழ் அடங்கி இருந்தனர்.

15 But when the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjaminite, a man left-handed: and by him the children of Israel sent a present to Eglon king of Moab.

திரும்பவும் இஸ்ரயேலர் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி அழுதனர். அவர் அவர்களுக்கு ஏகூத் என்னும் ஒரு விடுதலை வீரனைக் கொடுத்தார். இடதுகை பழக்கமுடைய இவன் பென்யமீனியனான கேராவின் மகன். இஸ்ரயேலர் மோவாப் அரசன் எக்லோனுக்கு கப்பம் கொடுக்கும்படி அவனை அனுப்பியிருந்தார்கள்.

16 But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he girded it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

ஏகூர் இருபக்கமும் கூர்மையுடைய ஒன்றரை அடி நீளமுள்ள ஒரு வாளைச்செய்து தனது வலது தொடையில் அதைக் கட்டி, தனது உடைகளுக்குள் மறைத்து வைத்திருந்தான்.

17 And he brought the present to Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon [was] a very fat man.

அவன் மோவாப் அரசன் எக்லோனுக்கு கப்பத்தைக் கொடுத்தான். எக்லோன் மிகவும் பருத்த மனிதன்.

18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bore the present.

ஏகூத் கப்பத்தைக் கொடுத்தபின் அதைச் சுமந்துவந்த தன் மனிதர்களை அவர்களுடைய வழியில் அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

19 But he himself turned again from the quarries that [were] by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand to thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

கில்காலில் இருந்த விக்கிரகங்கள் இருந்த இடம்வரை சென்ற அவன் திரும்பிவந்து, “அரசனே, உம்மிடம் சொல்லவேண்டிய ஒரு இரகசிய செய்தி என்னிடம் உண்டு” என்றான். அதற்கு அரசன்: “அமைதி” என்றவுடன், அவனுடைய வேலையாட்கள் அவனைவிட்டுப் போனார்கள்.

20 And Ehud came to him; and he was sitting in a summer-parlor, which he had for himself alone: and Ehud said, I have a message from God to thee. And he arose from [his] seat.

தனது அரண்மனையின் குளிர்ச்சியான மேலறையில் தனிமையாக உட்கார்ந்துகொண்டிருந்த அவனிடம் ஏகூத் கிட்டவந்து, “என்னிடம், உமக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டிய இறைவனிடமிருந்து பெற்ற ஒரு செய்தி இருக்கிறது” என்றான். அரசன் தனது நாற்காலியிலிருந்து எழுந்தபோது,

21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

ஏகூத் தனது இடதுகையை நீட்டி, தனது வலது தொடையில் கட்டியிருந்த வாளை உருவி, அதனால் அரசனின் வயிற்றில் குத்தினான்.

22 And the haft also entered after the blade: and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

வாளுடன்கூட கைப்பிடியும் அவன் வயிற்றில் புகுந்தது. வாளின் முனை அவன் முதுகினால் வெளியே வந்தது. ஏகூத் அந்த வாளை வெளியே இழுக்கமுடியாத அளவுக்கு கொழுப்பு அதை மூடிக்கொண்டது.

23 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlor upon him, and locked them.

பின்பு ஏகூத் புறப்பட்டு, மேலறையின் கதவுகளைத் தனக்குப் பின்னாகப் பூட்டிக்கொண்டு மண்டபத்துக்குப் போனான்.

24 When he had gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlor [were] locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer-chamber.

அவன் போனபின் பணியாட்கள் வந்து மேலறையின் கதவுகள் பூட்டப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கண்டார்கள். அவர்கள், “அவர் வீட்டினுள்ளறையில் மலசலம் கழிக்கும்படி போயிருக்கலாம்” என்று எண்ணினார்கள்.

25 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and behold, he opened not the doors of the parlor, therefore they took a key and opened [them]: and behold, their lord lay dead on the earth.

அவர்கள் அதிக நேரம் காத்திருந்தார்கள். அரசன் அறையின் கதவுகளைத் திறக்காததால் அவர்கள் ஒரு திறவுகோலை எடுத்து கதவுகளைத் திறந்தார்கள். அங்கே தங்கள் தலைவன் இறந்து தரையில் விழுந்து கிடப்பதைக் கண்டார்கள்.

26 And Ehud escaped while they tarried; and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped to Seirath.

அவர்கள் காத்துக்கொண்டிருந்த வேளையிலேயே ஏகூத் தப்பியோடிவிட்டான். அவன் விக்கிரகங்களுள்ள இடத்தைக் கடந்துபோய் சேயீருக்குத் தப்பியோடினான்.

27 And it came to pass when he had come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.

அவன் அங்கே போனபோது, எப்பிராயீம் மலைநாட்டில் ஒரு எக்காளத்தை ஊதினான். இஸ்ரயேலர் மலைகளிலிருந்து இறங்கி அவனுடன் போனார்கள். அவன் அவர்களை யுத்தத்திற்கு வழிநடத்திச் சென்றான்.

28 And he said to them, Follow me: for the LORD hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan towards Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

அவன் இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பார்த்து, “என் பின்னே வாருங்கள்” என உத்தரவிட்டு, “உங்கள் எதிரியான மோவாபை யெகோவா இன்று உங்கள் கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்” என்றான். எனவே அவர்கள் ஏகூத்தைப் பின்பற்றிப்போய் மோவாப்புக்கு எதிரேயுள்ள யோர்தானின் துறைமுகத்தைக் கைப்பற்றினர். அவர்கள் ஒருவனையும் கடந்து தப்பியோட விடவில்லை.

29 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valor: and there escaped not a man.

அந்த நாளில் அவர்கள் மோவாபியரில் கிட்டத்தட்ட பத்தாயிரம்பேரை வெட்டி வீழ்த்தினார்கள். அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் ஆற்றலும், வலிமையும் நிறைந்தவர்கள். ஒரு மனிதன்கூட தப்பிப் போகவில்லை.

30 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel: and the land had rest eighty years.

அந்த நாளிலே மோவாப் இஸ்ரயேலின் ஆட்சிக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டது. எண்பது வருடங்களாக நாட்டில் சமாதானம் நிலவியது.

31 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, who slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox-goad; and he also delivered Israel.

ஏகூத்துக்குப் பின், ஆனாத்தின் மகன் சம்கார் நீதிபதியாக வந்தான். அவன் மாட்டை அடிக்கும் கம்பினால் அறுநூறு பெலிஸ்தியரை அடித்து வீழ்த்தினான். அவனும் இஸ்ரயேலைக் காப்பாற்றினான்.
