Judges 19
1 And it came to pass in those days, when [there was] no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite dwelling on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Beth-lehem-judah.
౧ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఒక రాజు అంటూ లేని ఆ రోజుల్లో ఎఫ్రామీయుల కొండ ప్రాంతాల్లోని ఉత్తర భాగంలో ఒక లేవీయుడు పరదేశిగా నివసించేవాడు. అతడు యూదా ప్రాంతంలోని బేత్లెహేము నుండి ఒక స్త్రీని తనకు ఉంపుడుగత్తెగా తెచ్చుకున్నాడు.
2 And his concubine played the harlot against him, and went away from him to her father's house to Beth-lehem-judah, and was there four whole months.
౨అయితే ఆమె అతణ్ణి విడిచి పెట్టి మరొకరితో వ్యభిచారం చేసింది. ఆమె యూదా ప్రాంతం బెత్లేహెం లోని తన తండ్రి ఇంటికి వెళ్లి అక్కడే నాలుగు నెలలు ఉండిపోయింది.
3 And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak kindly to her, [and] to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father's house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.
౩ఆమెతో ప్రేమగా మాట్లాడి ఆమెని తిరిగి తెచ్చుకోడానికి ఆమె భర్త తన సేవకుణ్ణి, రెండు గాడిదలనూ తీసుకుని బయల్దేరాడు. ఆమె అతణ్ణి తన తండ్రి ఇంట్లోకి తీసుకు వెళ్ళింది. ఆ యువతి తండ్రి అతణ్ణి చూసి అతణ్ణి కలుసుకున్నందుకు సంతోషపడ్డాడు.
4 And his father-in-law, the damsel's father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they ate and drank, and lodged there.
౪ఆ అమ్మాయి తండ్రి, అంటే అతని మామ తనతో మూడు రోజులుండమని అతణ్ణి బలవంతం చేశాడు. కాబట్టి అతడు మూడు రోజులూ, రాత్రులూ తింటూ తాగుతూ అక్కడే గడిపాడు.
5 And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he arose to depart: and the damsel's father said to his son-in-law, Comfort thy heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward depart.
౫నాలుగవ రోజు వెళ్ళడానికి వాళ్ళు ఉదయాన్నే మేలుకున్నారు. ప్రయాణానికి సిద్ధపడ్డారు. కాని ఆ అమ్మాయి తండ్రి తన అల్లుడితో “కొంచెం రొట్టె తిని బలం తెచ్చుకో. ఆ తరువాత వెళ్ళవచ్చు” అన్నాడు.
6 And they sat down, and ate and drank both of them together: for the damsel's father had said to the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thy heart be merry.
౬దాంతో మళ్ళీ వారిద్దరూ కూర్చుని భోజనం చేశారు. భోజనమయ్యాక ఆ అమ్మాయి తండ్రి “దయచేసి ఈ రాత్రంతా మాతో గడుపు. సరదాగా, సంతోషంగా ఉండు” అన్నాడు.
7 And when the man rose to depart, his father-in-law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.
౭అతడు త్వరగా ముగించి బయల్దేరడానికి లేచాడు. కాని అతని మామ మళ్ళీ ఆ రాత్రి ఉండిపొమ్మని బలవంతం చేశాడు. కాబట్టి ఆ రాత్రి కూడా అతడు అక్కడే ఉండిపోయాడు.
8 And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart: and the damsel's father said, Comfort thy heart, I pray thee. And they tarried until afternoon, and they ate both of them.
౮అయిదో రోజు అతడు ఉదయాన్నే ప్రయాణానికి లేచినప్పుడు ఆ అమ్మాయి తండ్రి “మధ్యాహ్నం వరకూ ఉండి భోజనం చేసి కొంచెం బలపడు” అంటూ నిలిపివేశాడు. సాయంత్రం అయ్యేవరకూ తాత్సారం చేస్తూ వారు భోజనం చేసారు.
9 And when the man arose to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father-in-law, the damsel's father, said to him, Behold now the day draweth towards evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day is coming to an end, lodge here, that thy heart may be merry; and to-morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home.
౯ఆ లేవీయుడూ, అతని ఉంపుడుకత్తే, అతని సేవకుడూ ప్రయాణానికి లేచారు. అతని మామ అతనితో “చూడు, సాయంత్రం అయింది. చీకటి పడబోతోంది. నువ్వు మరో రాత్రి ఇక్కడే ఉండి సరదాగా గడుపు. రేపు ఉదయాన్నే లేచి నీ ఇంటికి వెళ్ళవచ్చు.” అని బలవంతం చేశాడు.
10 But the man would not tarry that night, but he arose and departed, and came over against Jebus, which [is] Jerusalem; and [there were] with him two asses saddled, his concubine also [was] with him.
౧౦కానీ అతడు ఆ రాత్రి అక్కడ గడపడానికి ఇష్టపడలేదు. అతడు లేచి ప్రయాణమయ్యాడు. ప్రయాణం సాగించి యెబూసు (అంటే యెరూషలేము) దగ్గరికి వచ్చాడు. అతని ఉంపుడుగత్తెతో పాటు అతనితో కూడా జీను కట్టిన రెండు గాడిదలూ ఉన్నాయి.
11 [And] when they [were] by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said to his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in to this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.
౧౧వారు యెబూసును సమీపించినప్పుడు పూర్తిగా సాయంత్రం అయింది. అతని సేవకుడు అతనితో “మనం ఈ యెబూసీయుల ఊర్లోకి వెళ్దాం. దీనిలో ఈ రాత్రి గడుపుదాం” అన్నాడు.
12 And his master said to him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that [is] not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.
౧౨కానీ అతని యజమానుడు “ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పట్టణాల్లోనే మనం బస చేద్దాం. ఇతరుల పట్టణాల్లో మనం ప్రవేశించం. మనం గిబియా వరకూ వెళ్దాం” అన్నాడు.
13 And he said to his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.
౧౩తరువాత ఆ లేవీయుడు తన సేవకుడితో “నువ్వు రా, మనం రామాకు గానీ గిబియాకి గానీ వెళ్లి రాత్రికి అక్కడే గడుపుదాం.” అన్నాడు.
14 And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them [when they were] by Gibeah, which [belongeth] to Benjamin.
౧౪అలా వాళ్ళు ముందుకు ప్రయాణమయ్యారు. చివరకూ బెన్యామీను గోత్రానికి చెందిన గిబియాకు వచ్చారు. అప్పటికి చీకటి పడింది.
15 And they turned aside thither, to go in [and] to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat down in a street of the city: for [there was] no man that took them into his house to lodge.
౧౫కాబట్టి గిబియాలో ఆ రాత్రి గడపడానికి ఆ ఊరిలో ప్రవేశించారు. వారిని ఎవరూ తమ ఇంటికి ఆహ్వానించలేదు. కాబట్టి వారు ఆ ఊరి మధ్యలో ఉన్న ఒక స్థలం లో కూర్చున్నారు.
16 And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at evening, who [was] also of mount Ephraim; and he dwelt in Gibeah: but the men of the place [were] Benjaminites.
౧౬అక్కడి మనుష్యులు బెన్యామీనీయులు. సాయంత్రం ఒక వృద్ధుడు పొలంలో తన పని ముగించుకుని వచ్చాడు. అతడు ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల కొండ ప్రాంతం నుండి వచ్చి గిబియాలో నివసిస్తున్నాడు.
17 And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a way-faring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
౧౭ఆ వృద్ధుడు తల ఎత్తి ఆ ఊరి మధ్యలో ప్రయాణమవుతూ కూర్చుని ఉన్న ఆ వ్యక్తిని చూశాడు. “నువ్వు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్తున్నావు? ఎక్కడినుండి వస్తున్నావు?” అని అడిగాడు.
18 And he said to him, We [are] passing from Beth-lehem-Judah towards the side of mount Ephraim; from thence [am] I: and I went to Beth-lehem-judah, but I [am now] going to the house of the LORD; and there [is] no man that receiveth me into [his] house.
౧౮అందుకతడు “మేము యూదా ప్రాంతంలోని బేత్లెహేము నుండి ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల కొండ ప్రాంతం అవతల ఉన్న ఒక మారుమూల ప్రాంతానికి వెళ్తున్నాం. మా సొంత ఊరు అదే. యూదా ప్రాంతం లోని బేత్లెహేముకు వెళ్ళి వస్తున్నాము. ఇప్పుడు యెహోవా మందిరానికి వెళ్తున్నాను. అయితే ఇక్కడ మాకెవరూ ఆతిథ్యం ఇవ్వలేదు
19 Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man [which is] with thy servants: [there is] no want of any thing:
౧౯మా గాడిదలకు గడ్డీ, దాణా ఉన్నాయి. నాకూ, మీ సేవకురాలైన ఈమెకూ, మీ సేవకులతో సమానుడైన ఈ యువకుడికీ ఆహారం, ద్రాక్షారసం ఉన్నాయి. ఆ విషయంలో మాకు ఎలాంటి ఇబ్బందీ లేదు.” అన్నాడు.
20 And the old man said, Peace [be] with thee; however, [let] all thy wants [lie] upon me; only lodge not in the street.
౨౦ఆ వృద్ధుడు “మీకు అంతా క్షేమం కలుగుతుంది. మీకు ఏదైనా తక్కువ అయితే వాటి సంగతి నేను చూసుకుంటాను
21 So he brought him into his house, and gave provender to the asses: and they washed their feet and ate and drank.
౨౧అయితే రాత్రి ఇలా వీధిలో గడపకూడదు” అన్నాడు. అలా చెప్పి అతణ్ణి తన ఇంటికి ఆహ్వానించి తీసుకు వెళ్ళాడు. అతని గాడిదల కోసం మేత సిద్ధం చేశాడు. వాళ్ళు కాళ్ళు కడుక్కుని భోజనం చేశారు.
22 [Now] as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house on all sides, [and] beat at the door, and spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thy house, that we may know him.
౨౨వాళ్ళు ఆ విధంగా ఆనందిస్తూ ఉండగా ఆ ఊరిలో ఉన్న కొందరు దుర్మార్గులు ఆ ఇంటిని చుట్టుముట్టి తలుపు కొట్టారు. ఆ ఇంటి యజమాని అయిన ఆ వృద్దునితో మాట్లాడారు. “నీ ఇంటికి వచ్చిన వ్యక్తిని బయటకు తీసుకు రా. అతణ్ణి మేము తెల్సుకోవాలి” అన్నారు.
23 And the man, the master of the house, went out to them, and said to them, Nay, my brethren, [nay], I pray you, do not [so] wickedly; seeing that this man is come into my house, do not this folly.
౨౩ఆ వృద్ధుడు బయటకు వెళ్ళి వాళ్ళతో మాట్లాడాడు “సోదరులారా, వద్దు. దయచేసి అలాంటి దుర్మార్గపు పని చేయకండి. ఈ వ్యక్తి నా ఇంట్లో అతిథిగా ఉన్నాడు. ఈ నీచమైన పని చేయకండి.
24 Behold, [here] is my daughter, a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good to you: but to this man do not so vile a thing.
౨౪చూడండి, నా కూతురు కన్య. ఆమే, ఆ వ్యక్తి ఉంపుడుగత్తే ఉన్నారు. వాళ్ళను నేను బయటకు తీసుకుని వస్తాను. వాళ్ళను మీ ఇష్టం వచ్చినట్లు చెరుపుకోండి. కాని ఈ వ్యక్తి విషయంలో అలాంటి దుర్మార్గపు పని చేయకండి” అన్నాడు.
25 But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth to them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
౨౫కాని వాళ్ళు అతని మాట వినలేదు. దాంతో ఆ వ్యక్తి తన ఉంపుడుగత్తెను బయట ఉన్న వాళ్ళ దగ్గరికి తీసుకు వెళ్ళాడు. వాళ్ళు ఆమెను పట్టుకుని రాత్రంతా మానభంగం చేస్తూ, లైంగికంగా హింసిస్తూ ఉన్నారు. తెల్లవారుతుండగా ఆమెను విడిచి వెళ్ళారు.
26 Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her lord [was], till it was light.
౨౬ఉదయాన్నే ఆమె తన భర్త ఉన్న ఆ వృద్దుడి ఇంటికి వచ్చి గుమ్మం దగ్గర పడిపోయింది. ఆమె పూర్తిగా వెలుతురు వచ్చేవరకూ అలానే ఉంది.
27 And her lord rose in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and behold, the woman his concubine had fallen down [at] the door of the house, and her hands [were] upon the threshhold.
౨౭ఉదయం ఆమె భర్త ప్రయాణమై వెళ్ళడానికి తలుపులు తీశాడు. అతని ఉంపుడుగత్తె ఆ ఇంటి గుమ్మం దగ్గర గడప మీద చేతులు చాపి పడి ఉంది.
28 And he said to her, Rise, and let us be going. But none answered. Then the man took her upon an ass, and the man rose, and went to his place.
౨౮ఆ లేవీయుడు “లే వెళ్దాం” అన్నాడు. కానీ ఆమె జవాబివ్వలేదు. ఆమెను గాడిదపై వేసుకుని ఆ వ్యక్తి తన ఇంటికి ప్రయాణం సాగించాడు.
29 And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his concubine, and divided her, with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the borders of Israel.
౨౯అతడు తన యింటికి వచ్చాక ఒక కత్తి తీసుకుని తన ఉంపుడుగత్తె శరీరంలో ఏ భాగానికి ఆ భాగం మొత్తం పన్నెండు ముక్కలుగా కోశాడు. ఆ పన్నెండు ముక్కలను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు నివసించే ప్రాంతాలన్నిటికీ పంపాడు.
30 And it was so, that all that saw it, said, There hath been no such deed done nor seen from the day that the children of Israel came from the land of Egypt to this day: consider of it, take advice, and speak [your minds].
౩౦దాన్ని చూసిన వారంతా “ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఐగుప్తులో నుండి బయటకు వచ్చిన రోజు నుండి ఇప్పటి వరకూ ఇలాంటిది జరగడం మనం చూడలేదు, వినలేదు. దీని గురించి ఆలోచించండి! ఏం చేయాలో చెప్పండి” అంటూ ఒకరితో ఒకరు చెప్పుకున్నారు.
