< Jude 1 >

1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, [and] called:
Judas, a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those called, having been loved in God [the] Father, and having been kept in Jesus Christ,
2 Mercy to you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you!
3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you concerning the common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you, and exhort [you] that ye should earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered to the saints.
Beloved, using all diligence to write to you concerning our common salvation, I had necessity to write to you, exhorting [you] to fight for the faith once delivered to the holy ones,
4 For certain men have crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
for there came in certain men stealthily, having been written beforehand to this judgment long ago, impious, perverting the grace of our God to licentiousness, and denying our only Master and Lord—Jesus Christ.
5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Now I intend to remind you, you once having known all this, that Jesus, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, He secondly destroyed those not having believed;
6 And the angels who kept not their first state, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness to the judgment of the great day. (aïdios g126)
messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but left their proper dwelling, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness until [the] judgment of [the] great day, (aïdios g126)
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to impurity, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. (aiōnios g166)
as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these [messengers], having given themselves to whoredom, and having gone after other flesh, have been set before [as] an example, undergoing the justice of continuous fire. (aiōnios g166)
8 Likewise also these [filthy] dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
In like manner, nevertheless, those dreaming indeed defile the flesh, and they disregard lordship, and they speak evil of glorious [ones],
9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
yet Michael, the chief messenger, when disputing with the Devil, reasoning about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring against [him] a judgment of slander, but said, “The LORD rebuke you!”
10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
But these, indeed, whatever [things] they have not known, they speak evil of; and whatever [they know], like the irrational beasts, they understand naturally—in these they are corrupted;
11 Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and run greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
woe to them! Because they went on in the way of Cain, and they rushed to the deceit of Balaam for reward, and in the controversy of Korah they perished.
12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [they are] without water, carried about by winds; withered autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, plucked out by the roots;
These are stains at your love-feasts, feasting together with you without fear, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds, being carried away by winds; autumnal trees without fruit, having died twice, having been uprooted;
13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever. (aiōn g165)
wild waves of a sea, foaming up their own shameful [deeds]; stars going astray, for whom the gloom of the darkness throughout the age has been kept. (aiōn g165)
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied to these, saying, “Behold, the LORD has come with myriads of His holy ones,
15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convict all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have impiously committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the harsh [words] that impious sinners spoke against Him.”
16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words], having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
These are discontented grumblers, walking according to their own lusts; and their mouth speaks swollen words, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
but you, beloved, remember the sayings spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
18 That they told you there would be mockers in the last time, who would walk after their own ungodly lusts.
that they said to you, that in the last time there will be scoffers, following after their own lusts of impieties,
19 These are they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
these are those causing divisions, natural men, not having the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying by the Holy Spirit,
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ [resulting] in continuous life; (aiōnios g166)
22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
and, indeed, show mercy to those who are doubting,
23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
and rescue others by snatching [them] out of fire; but show mercy to others in fear, hating even the coat having been stained from the flesh.
24 Now to him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present [you] faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
And to Him who is able to guard you without stumbling, and to set [you] in the presence of His glory unblemished, in gladness,
25 To God the only wise, our Savior, [be] glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
to the only wise God our Savior, [is] glory and greatness, power and authority, both now and forever! Amen. (aiōn g165)
