Joshua 8
1 And the LORD said to Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:
௧அப்பொழுது யெகோவா யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: நீ பயப்படாமலும் கலங்காமலும் இரு; நீ யுத்த மக்கள் அனைவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு எழுந்து, ஆயீ பட்டணம்வரைக்கும் போ, இதோ, ஆயீயின் ராஜாவையும். அவனுடைய மக்களையும் அவனுடைய பட்டணத்தையும் அவனுடைய நாட்டையும் உன் கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்.
2 And thou shalt do to Ai and her king, as thou didst to Jericho and her king: only its spoil, and its cattle, shall ye take for a prey to yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.
௨நீ எரிகோவுக்கும் அதின் ராஜாவுக்கும் செய்ததுபோல, ஆயீக்கும் அதின் ராஜாவுக்கும் செய்யக்கடவாய்; அதில் கொள்ளையிட்டப் பொருட்களையும் மிருகஜீவன்களையும் உங்களுக்குக் கொள்ளையாக எடுத்துக்கொள்ளலாம், பட்டணத்திற்குப் பின்புறத்திலே இரகசியப்படையை வை என்றார்.
3 So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valor, and sent them away by night.
௩அப்பொழுது ஆயீயின் மீது படையெடுத்துப் போக, யோசுவாவும் எல்லா யுத்தமனிதர்களும் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டார்கள்; யோசுவா யுத்தவீரர்களான முப்பதாயிரம்பேரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து, இரவிலே அவர்களை அனுப்பி,
4 And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city, [even] behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:
௪அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் பட்டணத்தின் பின்புறத்திலே ஒளிந்திருக்கவேண்டும்; பட்டணத்தைவிட்டு வெகுதூரம் போகாமல், எல்லோரும் ஆயத்தமாக இருங்கள்.
5 And I, and all the people that [are] with me, will approach to the city: and it shall come to pass when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,
௫நானும் என்னோடு இருக்கிற எல்லா மக்களும் பட்டணத்திற்கு அருகில் நெருங்கி வருவோம்; அவர்கள் முன்புபோல எங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்பட்டு வரும்போது, அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாக நாங்கள் ஓடிப்போவோம்.
6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.
௬அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்; முன்பு போலவே நமக்கு முன்பாக தோற்று ஓடிப்போகிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லி, எங்களைத் துரத்தப் புறப்படுவார்கள்; நாங்களோ அவர்களைப் பட்டணத்தைவிட்டு வெளியே வரப்பண்ணும்வரைக்கும், அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக ஓடுவோம்.
7 Then ye shall rise from the ambush and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand,
௭அப்பொழுது நீங்கள் மறைவிலிருந்து எழும்பிவந்து, பட்டணத்தைப் பிடிக்கவேண்டும்; உங்களுடைய தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அதை உங்களுடைய கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்.
8 And it shall be when ye have taken the city, [that] ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.
௮நீங்கள் பட்டணத்தைப் பிடிக்கும்போது, அதைத் தீக்கொளுத்திப்போடுங்கள்; யெகோவாவுடைய சொற்படி செய்யுங்கள்; இதோ, நான் உங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,
9 Joshua therefore sent them forth; and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.
௯அவர்களை அனுப்பினான்; அவர்கள் போய், பெத்தேலுக்கும் ஆயீக்கும் நடுவே, ஆயீக்கு மேற்கில் ஒளிந்திருந்தார்கள்; யோசுவா அன்று இரவு மக்களுடன் தங்கினான்.
10 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.
௧0அதிகாலையில் யோசுவா எழுந்திருந்து, மக்களை எண்ணிப்பார்த்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பர்களோடு மக்களுக்கு முன்பே நடந்து, ஆயீயின் மேல் படையெடுத்தான்.
11 And all the people, [even the people] of war that [were] with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now [there was] a valley between them and Ai.
௧௧அவனோடு இருந்த யுத்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும் நடந்து, பட்டணத்திற்கு அருகே வந்துசேர்ந்து, ஆயீக்கு வடக்கே முகாமிட்டார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கும் ஆயீக்கும் நடுவே ஒரு பள்ளத்தாக்கு இருந்தது.
12 And he took about five thousand men; and set them to lie in ambush between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of the city.
௧௨அவன் ஏறக்குறைய ஐயாயிரம் பேரைப் பிரித்தெடுத்து, அவர்களை பெத்தேலுக்கும் ஆயீக்கும் நடுவே பட்டணத்திற்குமேலே இரகசியப்படையாக வைத்தான்.
13 And when they had set the people, [even] all the host that [was] on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.
௧௩பட்டணத்திற்கு வடக்கே இருந்த எல்லா சேனையையும் பட்டணத்திற்கு மேற்கே ஒளிந்திருக்கிறவர்களையும் ஒழுங்குசெய்தபின்பு, யோசுவா அன்று இரவு பள்ளத்தாக்கிற்குப் போயிருந்தான்.
14 And it came to pass when the king of Ai saw [it], that they hasted and rose early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain: but he knew not that [there were] liers in ambush against him behind the city.
௧௪ஆயீயின் ராஜா அதைக் கண்டபோது, அவனும் பட்டணத்தின் மனிதர்களாகிய அவனுடைய எல்லா மக்களும் துரிதப்பட்டு, அதிகாலையிலே குறித்த வேளையில் இஸ்ரவேலர்களுக்கு எதிரே யுத்தம்செய்ய சமவெளிக்கு நேராகப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; பட்டணத்திற்குப் பின்னாலே தன்னைத் தாக்குவதற்காக இரகசியப்படை வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறதை அவன் அறியாமலிருந்தான்.
15 And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.
௧௫யோசுவாவும் இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாக முறிந்து, வனாந்திரத்திற்குப் போகிற வழியே ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.
16 And all the people that [were] in Ai were called together to pursue them: and they pursued Joshua, and were drawn away from the city.
௧௬அப்பொழுது பட்டணத்திற்குள் இருந்த மக்கள் எல்லோரும் அவர்களைத் துரத்தும்படி கூப்பிட்டுக்கொண்டு யோசுவாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து பட்டணத்தை விட்டுப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்.
17 And there was not a man left in Ai, or Beth-el that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued Israel.
௧௭ஆயீயிலும் பெத்தேலிலும் இஸ்ரவேலர்களைப் பின்தொடராத மனிதன் இருந்ததில்லை; பட்டணத்தைத் திறந்துவைத்துவிட்டு, இஸ்ரவேலர்களைத் துரத்திக்கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
18 And the LORD said to Joshua, Stretch out the spear that [is] in thy hand towards Ai; for I will give it into thy hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that [he had] in his hand towards the city.
௧௮அப்பொழுது யெகோவா யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: உன் கையில் இருக்கிற ஈட்டியை ஆயீக்கு நேராக நீட்டு; பட்டணத்தை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்றார்; அப்படியே யோசுவா தன் கையில் இருந்த ஈட்டியைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு நேராக நீட்டினான்.
19 And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted, and set the city on fire.
௧௯அவன் தன் கையை நீட்டினவுடனே, ஒளிந்திருந்தவர்கள் வேகமாகத் தாங்கள் இருந்த இடத்திலிருந்து எழும்பி ஓடி, பட்டணத்திற்கு வந்து, அதைப் பிடித்து, தீவிரத்தோடு பட்டணத்தைத் தீக்கொளுத்தினார்கள்.
20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.
௨0ஆயீயின் மனிதர்கள் பின்நோக்கிப் பார்த்தபோது, இதோ, பட்டணத்தின் புகை ஆகாயத்தில் எழும்புகிறதைக் கண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அங்கும் இங்கும் ஓடிப்போகிறதற்கு அவர்களுக்கு இடம் இல்லாமல்போனது; வனாந்திரத்திற்கு ஓடின மக்கள் தங்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தவர்களை நோக்கித் திரும்பினார்கள்.
21 And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again and slew the men of Ai.
௨௧ஒளிந்திருந்தவர்கள் பட்டணத்தைப் பிடித்ததையும், பட்டணத்தின் புகை எழும்புகிறதையும், யோசுவாவும் இஸ்ரவேலர்களும் பார்த்தபோது, திரும்பிக்கொண்டு, ஆயீயின் மனிதர்களை முறியடித்தார்கள்.
22 And the other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape.
௨௨பட்டணத்திலிருந்தவர்களும் அவர்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்பட்டதினால், சிலர் இந்தப்பக்கத்திலும் சிலர் அந்தப்பக்கத்திலும் இருந்த இஸ்ரவேலர்களின் நடுவே அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள்; ஆகவே, அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் தப்பிப்போகாதபடிக்கு அவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டு,
23 And the king of Ai they took alive, and brought him to Joshua.
௨௩ஆயீயின் ராஜாவை உயிரோடு பிடித்து, யோசுவாவிடம் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
24 And it came to pass when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness in which they chased them, and when they had all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned to Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.
௨௪இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் வனாந்திரவெளியிலே தங்களைத் துரத்தின ஆயீயின் குடிகளையெல்லாம் வெட்டித் தீர்ந்தபோதும், அவர்கள் அனைவரும் அழியும்வரை பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் விழுந்து இறந்தபோதும், இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும் ஆயீக்குத் திரும்பி, அதைப் பட்டயக்கருக்கினால் அழித்தார்கள்.
25 And [so] it was, [that] all that fell that day, both of men and women, [were] twelve thousand, [even] all the men of Ai.
௨௫அந்த நாளிலே ஆணும் பெண்ணுமாக ஆயீயின் மனிதர்கள் எல்லோரும் 12,000 பேர் மரித்தார்கள்.
26 For Joshua drew not his hand back with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.
௨௬ஆயீயின் குடிகளையெல்லாம் அழித்துத் தீரும்வரைக்கும், யோசுவா ஈட்டியை நீட்டிக்கொண்டிருந்த தன் கையை மடக்கவில்லை.
27 Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for a prey to themselves, according to the word of the LORD which he commanded Joshua.
௨௭யெகோவா யோசுவாவிற்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட வார்த்தையின்படி, மிருகஜீவனையும் அந்தப் பட்டணத்தில் கொள்ளையிட்டவைகளையும் மட்டும் இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.
28 And Joshua burnt Ai, and made it a heap for ever, [even] a desolation to this day.
௨௮யோசுவா ஆயீயைச் சுட்டெரித்து, அதை இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறபடி என்றைக்கும் பாழாய்க்கிடக்கும் மண்மேடாக்கி,
29 And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening: and as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcass down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise upon it a great heap of stones, [that remaineth] to this day.
௨௯ஆயீயின் ராஜாவை ஒரு மரத்திலே தூக்கி, மாலைநேரம்வரைக்கும் அதிலே தொங்கவிட்டான்; சூரியன் மறைந்தபின்பு யோசுவா அவனுடைய உடலை மரத்தைவிட்டு இறக்கச் சொன்னான்; அதைப் பட்டணத்தின் வாசலில் போட்டு, இந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிற பெரிய கற்குவியலை அதின்மேல் குவித்தார்கள்.
30 Then Joshua built an altar to the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal,
௩0அப்பொழுது யோசுவா: யெகோவாவின் ஊழியக்காரனாகிய மோசே இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியும், மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாண புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியும், ஏபால் மலையில் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு இரும்பு ஆயுதம் படாத முழுக்கற்களால் ஒரு பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டினான்.
31 As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lifted up [any] iron: and they offered upon it burnt-offerings to the LORD, and sacrificed peace-offerings.
௩௧அதின்மேல் யெகோவாவுக்கு சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, சமாதானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தினார்கள்.
32 And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
௩௨இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு முன்பாக மோசே எழுதியிருந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை அவன் அங்கே கற்களில் எழுதினான்.
33 And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side of the ark, and on that side, before the priests the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.
௩௩இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களை ஆசீர்வதிப்பதற்காக யெகோவாவின் தாசனாகிய மோசே முதலில் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தபடியே, இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் எல்லோரும், அவர்களுடைய மூப்பர்களும், அதிகாரிகளும், நியாயாதிபதிகளும், அந்நியர்களும், இஸ்ரவேலில் பிறந்தவர்களும் யெகோவாவுடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைச் சுமக்கிற லேவியர்களான ஆசாரியர்களுக்கு முன்பாக, பெட்டிக்கு இருபுறத்திலும், பாதிப்பேர் கெரிசீம் மலைக்கு எதிர்புறமாகவும், பாதிப்பேர் ஏபால் மலைக்கு எதிர்புறமாகவும் நின்றார்கள்.
34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.
௩௪அதற்குப்பின்பு அவன் நியாயப்பிரமாண புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் சொல்லிய ஆசீர்வாதமும் சாபமுமாகிய எல்லா வார்த்தைகளையும் வாசித்தான்.
35 There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.
௩௫மோசே கட்டளையிட்ட எல்லாவற்றிலும் யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேலின் முழுச்சபைக்கும், பெண்களுக்கும், பிள்ளைகளுக்கும், அவர்களுக்குள் வாழ்ந்த அந்நியர்களுக்கும் முன்பாக, ஒரு வார்த்தையையும் விடாமல் வாசித்தான்.
