Joshua 8
1 And the LORD said to Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:
Miingon si Yahweh kang Josue, “Ayaw kahadlok ug ayaw kaluya. Dad-a uban kanimo ang tanang katawhan nga mangugubat. Tungas ngadto sa Ai. Tan-awa, gihatag ko na sa imong kamot ang hari sa Ai, ang iyang katawhan, ang iyang siyudad, ug ang iyang yuta.
2 And thou shalt do to Ai and her king, as thou didst to Jericho and her king: only its spoil, and its cattle, shall ye take for a prey to yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.
Buhaton mo ngadto sa Ai ug sa iyang hari ingon sa imong gibuhat sa Jerico ug sa iyang hari, gawas lamang kung kuhaon ninyo ang mga inilog nga mga butang ug ang mga baka alang sa inyong kaugalingon. Banhigi ang luyo sa siyudad.”
3 So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valor, and sent them away by night.
Busa mibangon si Josue ug gidala ang tanang mga kalalakin-an nga manggugubat tungas sa Ai. Unya mipili si Josue ug 30, 000 ka kalalakin-an—kusgan, maisog nga kalalakin-an—ug gipalakaw sila sa kagabhion.
4 And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city, [even] behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:
Gimandoan niya sila, “Tan-awa, mohupo kamo sa banhiganan batok sa siyudad, sa likod niini. Ayaw kaayo pagpalayo gikan sa siyudad, apan pagmainandamon kamong tanan.
5 And I, and all the people that [are] with me, will approach to the city: and it shall come to pass when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,
Ako ug ang tanang kalalakin-an nga uban kanako magpaduol sa siyudad. Ug sa dihang manggula sila aron pagsulong kanamo, managan kami palayo gikan kanila sama kaniadto.
6 (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.
Gukdon nila kami hangtod nga madala namo sila palayo sa siyudad. Moingon sila, 'Nanagan sila gikan kanato sama sa ilang gibuhat sa unang higayon.' Busa managan kami gikan kanila
7 Then ye shall rise from the ambush and seize upon the city: for the LORD your God will deliver it into your hand,
Unya manggula kamo gikan sa inyong dapit nga gitagoan, ug ilogon ninyo ang siyudad. Si Yahweh nga inyong Dios ang mohatag niini sa inyong kamot.
8 And it shall be when ye have taken the city, [that] ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the LORD shall ye do. See, I have commanded you.
Sa dihang mailog na ninyo ang siyudad, sunogon ninyo kini. Buhaton ninyo kini sa dihang tumanon ninyo ang mando nga gihatag sa pulong ni Yahweh. Tan-awa, gimandoan ko kamo.”
9 Joshua therefore sent them forth; and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.
Gipalakaw sila ni Josue, ug miadto sila sa dapit nga banhiganan, ug mitago sila taliwala sa Betel ug sa Ai didto sa kasadpang bahin sa Ai. Apan natulog si Josue nianang gabhiona uban sa katawhan.
10 And Joshua rose early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.
Busa sayo sa kabuntagon mibangon si Josue ug giandam ang iyang kasundalohan, si Josue ug ang mga kadagkoan sa Israel, ug gisulong nila ang katawhan sa Ai.
11 And all the people, [even the people] of war that [were] with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now [there was] a valley between them and Ai.
Nanungas ang tanang manggugubat nga uban kaniya ug mipaduol sa siyudad. Mipaduol sila sa siyudad ug nagkampo sa amihanan nga bahin sa Ai. Karon adunay walog taliwala kanila ug sa Ai.
12 And he took about five thousand men; and set them to lie in ambush between Beth-el and Ai, on the west side of the city.
Gidala niya ang kalalakin-an nga mikabat ug 5000 ug giandam sila sa pagbanhig ngadto sa kasadpan nga bahin sa siyudad taliwala sa Betel ug Ai.
13 And when they had set the people, [even] all the host that [was] on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley.
Gipahiluna nila ang tanang kasundalohan, ang kadaghanan sa kasundalohan atua sa amihanan nga bahin sa siyudad, ug ang tigbantay sa likod atua sa kasadpan nga bahin sa siyudad. Nagpahulay si Josue nianang gabhiona didto sa walog.
14 And it came to pass when the king of Ai saw [it], that they hasted and rose early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain: but he knew not that [there were] liers in ambush against him behind the city.
Nahitabo kini sa pagkakita sa hari sa Ai niini, siya ug ang iyang kasundalohan misayo pagbangon ug nagdalidali aron sa pagsulong sa Israel sa dapit nga nag-atubang ngadto sa walog sa Suba sa Jordan. Wala siya masayod nga ang banhig naghulat aron sa pagsulong gikan sa likod sa siyudad.
15 And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness.
Gitugotan ni Josue ug sa tibuok Israel nga mabuntog ang ilang kaugalingon sa ilang atubangan, ug mikalagiw sila ngadto sa kamingawan.
16 And all the people that [were] in Ai were called together to pursue them: and they pursued Joshua, and were drawn away from the city.
Gipatawag ang tanang katawhan nga atua sa siyudad aron sa paggukod kanila, ug misunod sila kang Josue ug nagpahilayo na sila sa siyudad.
17 And there was not a man left in Ai, or Beth-el that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued Israel.
Walay bisan usa ka lalaki nga nahibilin sa Ai ug sa Betel nga wala migukod sa Israel. Gitalikdan nila ang siyudad ug gibiyaan kini nga abli samtang migukod sila sa Israel.
18 And the LORD said to Joshua, Stretch out the spear that [is] in thy hand towards Ai; for I will give it into thy hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that [he had] in his hand towards the city.
Miingon si Yahweh kang Josue, “Itumong ang imong bangkaw nga anaa sa imong kamot ngadto sa Ai, kay akong ihatag ang Ai diha sa imong kamot.” Gipataas niya ang bangkaw nga anaa sa iyang kamot ngadto sa siyudad.
19 And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted, and set the city on fire.
Ang kasundalohan nga nanago sa banhiganan nanggula dayon sa ilang dapit samtang giisa niya ang iyang kamot. Nanagan sila ug misulod sa siyudad ug giilog kini. Gisunog dayon nila ang siyudad.
20 And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers.
Ang kalalakin-an sa Ai mibalik ug milingi. Nakita nila ang aso nga naggikan sa siyudad nga miutbo ngadto sa kawanangan, ug dili na sila maka-ikyas niini nga dalan o niana. Kay ang kasundalohan sa Israelita nga mikalagiw ngadto sa kamingawan mibalik karon aron sa pag-atubang niadtong migukod kanila.
21 And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again and slew the men of Ai.
Sa dihang nakita ni Josue ug sa tibuok Israel ang banhig nga miilog sa siyudad uban sa miutbo nga aso, mibalik sila ug gipangpatay nila ang kalalakin-an sa Ai.
22 And the other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape.
Ug ang ubang kasundalohan sa Israel, kadtong misulod didto sa siyudad, migula aron sa pagsulong kanila. Busa ang kalalakin-an sa Ai nadakpan taliwala sa kasundalohan sa Israel, ang pipila dinhi nga bahin ug ang pipila didto sa pikas bahin. Gisulong sa Israel ang kalalakin-an sa Ai; walay usa kanila nga naluwas o nakaikyas.
23 And the king of Ai they took alive, and brought him to Joshua.
Gibilin nila ang hari sa Ai, nga gidakop nila nga buhi, ug gidala nila siya ngadto kang Josue.
24 And it came to pass when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness in which they chased them, and when they had all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned to Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.
Nahitabo kini sa dihang nahuman na ug patay sa Israel ang tanang nagpuyo sa Ai didto sa uma nga duol sa kamingawan diin sila gigukod, ug sa dihang silang tanan, hangtod sa kinaulahian, nangahagba pinaagi sa sulab sa espada, ang tibuok Israel mibalik sa Ai. Gisulong nila kini pinaagi sa sulab sa espada.
25 And [so] it was, [that] all that fell that day, both of men and women, [were] twelve thousand, [even] all the men of Ai.
Ang tanan nga nahagba nianang adlawa, lalaki ug babaye, mga 12, 000, ang tanang katawhan sa Ai.
26 For Joshua drew not his hand back with which he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.
Wala gipaubos ni Josue ang iyang kamot nga diin iyang giisa samtang naggunit sa iyang bangkaw, hangtod nga nahingpit niya ug laglag ang tanang katawhan sa Ai.
27 Only the cattle and the spoil of that city Israel took for a prey to themselves, according to the word of the LORD which he commanded Joshua.
Gikuha lamang sa Israel ang binuhi nga mga mananap ug ang inilog nga mga butang nga gikan sa siyudad alang sa ilang kaugalingon, sama sa gimando ni Yahweh kang Josue.
28 And Joshua burnt Ai, and made it a heap for ever, [even] a desolation to this day.
Gisunog ni Josue ang Ai ug gihimo kining tinapok sa pagkalaglag hangtod sa kahangtoran. Biniyaan kini nga dapit hangtod niining adlawa.
29 And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until evening: and as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcass down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise upon it a great heap of stones, [that remaineth] to this day.
Gibitay niya ang Hari sa Ai didto sa kahoy hangtod sa pagkakilomkilom. Sa pagsalop sa adlaw, nagmando si Josue ug gikuha nila ang lawas sa hari nga gikan sa kahoy ug giitsa kini sa mga ganghaan sa siyudad. Gitabonan nila didto ug daghang tapok sa bato ang ibabaw niini. Kana nga tapok sa bato nagpabilin didto hangtod niining adlawa.
30 Then Joshua built an altar to the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal,
Unya nagtukod ug halaran si Josue alang kang Yahweh, ang Dios sa Israel, didto sa Bukid sa Ebal,
31 As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lifted up [any] iron: and they offered upon it burnt-offerings to the LORD, and sacrificed peace-offerings.
Sumala sa gimando ni Moises nga sulugoon ni Yahweh ngadto sa katawhan sa Israel, ingon nga nahisulat kini sa libro sa balaod ni Moises: “Ang halaran gikan sa wala giputol nga mga bato, nga wala pa gigamitan ug puthaw nga himan.” Ug naghalad siya sa ibabaw niining mga halad sinunog ngadto kang Yahweh, ug naghalad sila ug halad sa kalinaw.
32 And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
Ug didto sa presensya sa katawhan sa Israel, misulat siya sa mga bato ug usa ka kopya sa balaod ni Moises.
33 And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side of the ark, and on that side, before the priests the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.
Ang tibuok Israel, ang ilang mga kadagkoan, mga opisyales, ug ang ilang mga maghuhukom mibarog sa matag kilid sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan sa atubangan sa mga pari ug mga Levita nga nagdala sa sagradong sudlanan sa kasabotan ni Yahweh—ang langyaw ingon man usab ang natawo nga lumad—mibarog ang katunga kanila sa atubangan sa Bukid sa Geresim ug ang laing katunga mibarog sa atubangan sa Bukid sa Ebal. Gipanalanginan nila ang katawhan sa Israel, sumala sa gimando ni Moises nga sulugoon ni Yahweh ngadto kanila sukad pa sa sinugdanan.
34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.
Pagkahuman, gibasa ni Josue ang tanang pulong sa balaod, ang mga panalangin ug ang mga tunglo, ingon nga nahisulat kini sa libro sa balaod.
35 There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.
Walay usa ka pulong nga gikan sa tanang gimando ni Moises nga wala nabasa ni Josue sa atubangan sa panagtigom sa Israel, lakip na ang mga kababayen-an, gagmay nga kabataan, ug ang mga langyaw nga nagpuyo taliwala kanila.
