Joshua 22
1 Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh,
পরে যিহোশূয় রূবেণীয়দের, গাদীয়দের ও মনঃশির অর্ধ বংশকে ডেকে পাঠালেন
2 And said to them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:
ও তাদের বললেন, “সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি যেমন আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন, তোমরা সে সমস্তই পালন করেছ এবং আমি তোমাদের যে যে আদেশ দিয়েছিলাম, তোমরা সে সমস্তই মেনে চলেছ।
3 Ye have not left your brethren these many days to this day, but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.
আজ পর্যন্ত, এই দীর্ঘ সময়, তোমরা তোমাদের ইস্রায়েলী ভাইদের ছেড়ে দাওনি, কিন্তু তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের যে লক্ষ্য দিয়েছিলেন, তা তোমরা পূর্ণ করেছ।
4 And now the LORD your God hath given rest to your brethren, as he promised them: therefore now return ye, and go to your tents, [and] to the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the other side of Jordan.
এখন সদাপ্রভু, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, তাঁর প্রতিশ্রুতি অনুযায়ী তোমাদের ভাইদের বিশ্রাম দিয়েছেন। তোমরা তোমাদের স্বভূমিতে, যে দেশটি সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি তোমাদের দিয়েছিলেন, সেই জর্ডন নদীর ওপারে তোমাদের ঘরে ফিরে যাও।
5 But take diligent heed to perform the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave to him, and to serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul.
কিন্তু সদাপ্রভুর দাস মোশি তোমাদের যে বিধান দিয়েছেন, তা পালন করার ব্যাপারে তোমরা অত্যন্ত যত্নশীল হোয়ো: তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে তোমরা ভালোবাসবে, তাঁর দেখানো সমস্ত পথে জীবনযাপন করবে, তাঁর আজ্ঞাগুলি পালন করবে, তাঁকে দৃঢ়ভাবে আঁকড়ে ধরে থাকবে ও তোমাদের সম্পূর্ণ মন ও প্রাণ দিয়ে তাঁর সেবা করবে।”
6 So Joshua blessed them and sent them away; and they went to their tents.
পরে যিহোশূয় তাদের আশীর্বাদ করলেন ও তাদের বিদায় দিলেন, ও তারা তাদের ঘরে ফিরে গেল।
7 Now to the [one] half of the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given [possession] in Bashan: but to the [other] half of it gave Joshua among their brethren on this side of Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away also to their tents, then he blessed them,
(মনঃশির অর্ধ বংশকে মোশি বাশন দেশে জমি দিয়েছিলেন ও তাদের অপর অর্ধ বংশকে যিহোশূয় জর্ডন নদীর পশ্চিমদিকে তাদের ইস্রায়েলী ভাইদের সঙ্গে উত্তরাধিকার দিয়েছিলেন) যখন যিহোশূয় তাদের ঘরে ফেরত পাঠালেন, তিনি তাদের আশীর্বাদ করলেন।
8 And he spoke to them, saying, Return with much riches to your tents, and with very many cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with brass, and with iron, and with very much raiment: divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
তিনি তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা প্রচুর সম্পত্তি নিয়ে নিজেদের ঘরে ফিরে যাও—গৃহপালিত পশুর বড়ো বড়ো পাল, রুপো, সোনা, ব্রোঞ্জ ও লোহা এবং প্রচুর পরিমাণে পরিধেয় পোশাক নিয়ে যাও—ও তোমরা তোমাদের শত্রুদের কাছ থেকে যে সমস্ত জিনিসপত্র লুট করেছ, তা তোমাদের ইস্রায়েলী ভাইদের সঙ্গে ভাগ করে নিয়ো।”
9 And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which [is] in the land of Canaan, to go to the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, of which they were possessed, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
তাই রূবেণ ও গাদ গোষ্ঠী এবং মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠী কনানের শীলোতে ইস্রায়েলীদের ছেড়ে গিলিয়দে, তাদের স্বদেশে ফিরে গেল। এই স্থানটি তারা মোশির মাধ্যমে দেওয়া সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ অনুসারে লাভ করেছিল।
10 And when they came to the borders of Jordan, that [are] in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to the sight.
তারা যখন কনান দেশের জর্ডন নদীর কাছে গলিলোতে উপস্থিত হল, তখন রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর লোকেরা জর্ডন নদীতীরে এক জমকালো বেদি তৈরি করল।
11 And the children of Israel heard it said, Behold, the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
ইস্রায়েলীরা যখন শুনতে পেল যে, তারা কনানের সীমায়, ইস্রায়েলের অংশে, জর্ডন নদীর কাছে গলিলোতে সেই বেদি তৈরি করেছে,
12 And when the children of Israel heard [of it], the whole congregation of the children of Israel assembled at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
তখন ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত মণ্ডলী তাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য শীলোতে একত্রিত হল।
13 And the children of Israel sent to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
এই কারণে ইস্রায়েলীরা যাজক ইলিয়াসরের ছেলে পীনহসকে গিলিয়দে, রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর কাছে পাঠাল।
14 And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one [was] a head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
তাঁর সঙ্গে তারা ইস্রায়েলের প্রত্যেক গোষ্ঠী থেকে এক একজন করে দশজন প্রধান ব্যক্তিকে পাঠাল, যারা ইস্রায়েলী গোত্রগুলির নিজের নিজের বংশের মধ্যে প্রধান ছিলেন।
15 And they came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,
যখন তাঁরা রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর কাছে গিলিয়দে পৌঁছালেন, তাঁরা তাদের বললেন:
16 Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass [is] this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have built you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?
“সদাপ্রভুর সমস্ত মণ্ডলী একথা বলছে: ‘আপনারা কীভাবে ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সঙ্গে এমন বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করলেন? কীভাবে আপনারা সদাপ্রভু থেকে বিমুখ হয়ে, তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে এ ধরনের বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করে নিজেদের জন্য একটি বেদি নির্মাণ করেছেন?
17 [Is] the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD,
পিয়োরে করা পাপই কি আমাদের শিক্ষার জন্য যথেষ্ট নয়? আজ পর্যন্ত আমরা সেই পাপ থেকে নিজেদের শুচিশুদ্ধ করতে পারিনি, যদিও সদাপ্রভুর সমাজে এক মহামারি নেমে এসেছিল!
18 But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, [seeing] ye rebel to-day against the LORD, that to-morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.
আর এখন আপনারাও কি সদাপ্রভুর কাছ থেকে ফিরে যাচ্ছেন? “‘আজ যদি আপনারা সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করেন, আগামীকাল তিনি ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত সমাজের প্রতি ক্রুদ্ধ হবেন।
19 Not withstanding, if the land of your possession [is] unclean, [then] pass ye over to the land of the possession of the LORD, in which the LORD'S tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar besides the altar of the LORD our God.
আপনারা যে দেশ অধিকার করেছেন, তা যদি কলুষিত হয়, তবে সদাপ্রভুর ভূমিতে ফিরে আসুন, যেখানে সদাপ্রভুর সমাগম তাঁবু আছে ও আমাদের সঙ্গে সেই ভূমি ভাগ করে নিন। কিন্তু নিজেদের জন্য আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর বেদি ছাড়া অন্য একটি বেদি নির্মাণ করে আপনারা সদাপ্রভুর বা আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহী হবেন না।
20 Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fall on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.
বর্জিত বিষয়গুলি সম্পর্কে যখন সেরহের ছেলে আখন অবিশ্বস্ততার কাজ করেছিল, তখন কি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলী সমাজের উপরে সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ উপস্থিত হয়নি? তার পাপের জন্য কেবলমাত্র সেই নিহত হয়নি।’”
21 Then the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered, and said to the heads of the thousands of Israel,
তখন রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশির অর্ধ গোষ্ঠীর লোকেরা ইস্রায়েলী গোত্রগুলির প্রধানদের উত্তর দিল:
22 The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if [it is] in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD, (save us not this day, )
“সদাপ্রভু ঈশ্বর পরাক্রমী! সদাপ্রভু ঈশ্বর পরাক্রমী! তিনি জানেন! আর ইস্রায়েলও তা জানুক! এ যদি সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ বা অবাধ্যতা হয়, তবে আজ আপনারা আমাদের নিষ্কৃতি দেবেন না।
23 That we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD, or if to offer on it burnt-offering, or meat-offering, or if to offer peace-offerings on it, let the LORD himself require [it];
যদি আমরা নিজেদের নির্মিত বেদি সদাপ্রভু থেকে সরে যাওয়ার জন্য ও তার উপরে হোমবলি বা ভক্ষ্য-নৈবেদ্য কিংবা মঙ্গলার্থক বলি উৎসর্গ করার জন্য নির্মাণ করে থাকি, তবে সদাপ্রভু স্বয়ং আমাদের তার প্রতিফল দিন।
24 And if we have not [rather] done it for fear of [this] thing, saying, In time to come your children may speak to our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?
“না! আমরা ভয়ে এই কাজ করেছি, কারণ কোনোদিন হয়তো আপনাদের বংশধরেরা আমাদের বংশধরদের বলবে, ‘ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সঙ্গে তোমাদের কী সম্পর্ক?
25 For the LORD hath made Jordan a boundary between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD. So shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD.
সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের, অর্থাৎ রূবেণীয় ও গাদীয়দের এবং আমাদের মধ্যে জর্ডন নদীকে সীমানারূপে রেখেছেন! সদাপ্রভুর উপরে তোমাদের কোনও অধিকার নেই।’ তাই আপনাদের বংশধরেরা আমাদের বংশধরদের সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করতে বাধা দিতে পারে।
26 Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice:
“সেই কারণে আমরা বললাম, ‘এসো, আমরা তৈরি হই ও একটি বেদি নির্মাণ করি—কিন্তু তার উপরে হোমবলি বা অন্যান্য বলি উৎসর্গ করার জন্য নয়।’
27 But [that] it [may be] a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we may do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.
উল্টে, এটি বরং আপনাদের ও আমাদের ও পরবর্তী প্রজন্মপরম্পরার মধ্যে সাক্ষীস্বরূপ হবে, যেন আমরা তাঁর ধর্মধামে হোমবলি, অন্যান্য বলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলি নিয়ে সদাপ্রভুর আরাধনা করতে পারি। তবে ভাবীকালে আপনাদের বংশধরেরা আমাদের বংশধরদের বলতে পারবে না যে, ‘সদাপ্রভুর উপরে তোমাদের কোনও অধিকার নেই।’
28 Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they shall [so] say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt-offerings, nor for sacrifices; but [it is] a witness between us and you.
“আমরা আরও বললাম, ‘তারা যদি কখনও একথা আমাদের কিংবা আমাদের বংশধরদের কাছে বলে, আমরা উত্তর দেব: সদাপ্রভুর বেদির ওই ক্ষুদ্র সংস্করণ দেখো। এটি আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষেরা নির্মাণ করেছিলেন, হোমবলি বা অন্যান্য বলি উৎসর্গের জন্য নয়, কিন্তু তোমাদের ও আমাদের মধ্যে এক সাক্ষী হওয়ার জন্য।’
29 Far be it from us that we should rebel against the LORD, and turn this day from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt-offerings, for meat-offerings, or for sacrifices, besides the altar of the LORD our God that [is] before his tabernacle.
“সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে যে আমরা বিদ্রোহ করি, তাঁর কাছ থেকে বিমুখ হয়ে, আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর সমাগম তাঁবুর সামনে স্থিত বেদি ছাড়া, আমরা হোমবলি, শস্য-নৈবেদ্য ও অন্যান্য বলি উৎসর্গের জন্য যে অন্য বেদি নির্মাণ করি, তা আমাদের থেকে দূরে থাকুক।”
30 And when Phinehas the priest, and the princes of the congregation, and heads of the thousands of Israel who [were] with him, heard the words that the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the children of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.
যখন যাজক পীনহস ও সমাজের নেতৃবৃন্দ—ইস্রায়েলীদের গোষ্ঠীপতিরা—রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশি গোষ্ঠীর বক্তব্য শুনলেন, তাঁরা সন্তুষ্ট হলেন।
31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD [is] among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against the LORD: now ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the LORD.
আর ইলিয়াসরের ছেলে যাজক পীনহস, রূবেণ, গাদ ও মনঃশি গোষ্ঠীর লোকদের বললেন, “আজ আমরা বুঝতে পারলাম যে, সদাপ্রভু আমাদের সঙ্গে আছেন, কারণ এই ব্যাপারে আপনারা সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি অবিশ্বস্ততার কাজ করেননি। এখন সদাপ্রভুর হাত থেকে আপনারা ইস্রায়েলীদের উদ্ধার করলেন।”
32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, from the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
পরে ইলিয়াসরের ছেলে যাজক পীনহস ও ইস্রায়েলী নেতারা গিলিয়দে রূবেণীয় ও গাদীয়দের সঙ্গে সভা সেরে কনানে ফিরে গেলেন ও ইস্রায়েলীদের কাছে সেই সংবাদ দিলেন।
33 And the thing pleased the children of Israel; and the children of Israel blessed God, and did not intend to go up against them in battle, to destroy the land in which the children of Reuben and Gad dwelt.
তারা সেই সংবাদ শুনে আনন্দিত হল ও ঈশ্বরের প্রশংসা করল। রূবেণীয়েরা ও গাদীয়েরা যেখানে থাকে, তারা সেই দেশে গিয়ে আর তাদের ধ্বংস করার কথা বলল না।
34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar [Ed]: for it [shall be] a witness between us that the LORD [is] God.
আর রূবেণীয়েরা ও গাদীয়েরা সেই বেদির নাম দিল এদ, কারণ তারা বলল, “তাদের ও আমাদের মধ্যে এই বেদি সাক্ষী যে—সদাপ্রভুই ঈশ্বর।”
