Joshua 21
1 Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;
Les chefs de famille des Lévites s'approchèrent du prêtre Éléazar, de Josué, fils de Noun, et des chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d'Israël.
2 And they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for our cattle.
Ils leur parlèrent à Silo, dans le pays de Canaan, en disant: « L'Éternel a ordonné par Moïse de nous donner des villes pour y habiter, avec leurs pâturages pour notre bétail. »
3 And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
Les enfants d'Israël donnèrent aux Lévites, sur leur héritage, selon le commandement de l'Éternel, ces villes et leurs pâturages.
4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, [who were] of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
Le sort sortit pour les familles des Kehathites. Les fils du prêtre Aaron, qui faisaient partie des Lévites, eurent par tirage au sort treize villes de la tribu de Juda, de la tribu des Siméonites et de la tribu de Benjamin.
5 And the rest of the children of Kohath [had] by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
Les autres fils de Kehath eurent dix villes par le sort, appartenant aux familles de la tribu d'Ephraïm, de la tribu de Dan et de la demi-tribu de Manassé.
6 And the children of Gershon [had] by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
Les fils de Guershon eurent treize villes par le sort, des familles de la tribu d'Issacar, de la tribu d'Aser, de la tribu de Nephtali et de la demi-tribu de Manassé, en Basan.
7 The children of Merari by their families [had] out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
Les fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, eurent douze villes de la tribu de Ruben, de la tribu de Gad et de la tribu de Zabulon.
8 And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
Les enfants d'Israël donnèrent ces villes et leurs pâturages par tirage au sort aux Lévites, comme l'Yahvé l'avait ordonné par Moïse.
9 And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are [here] mentioned by name,
Ils donnèrent de la tribu des fils de Juda et de la tribu des fils de Siméon les villes mentionnées par leur nom.
10 Which the children of Aaron, [being] of the families of the Kohathites, [who were] of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.
Elles étaient destinées aux fils d'Aaron, des familles des Kehathites, qui étaient des fils de Lévi, car c'était le premier lot.
11 And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak (which [city is] Hebron) in the hill -[country] of Judah, with its suburbs round it.
Ils leur donnèrent Kiriath Arba, du nom du père d'Anak (appelée aussi Hébron), dans la montagne de Juda, avec les pâturages qui l'entourent.
12 But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
Mais ils donnèrent les champs de la ville et de ses villages à Caleb, fils de Jephunné, pour sa possession.
13 Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest, Hebron with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with its suburbs,
Aux fils du sacrificateur Aaron, ils donnèrent Hébron et ses pâturages, la ville de refuge du meurtrier, Libna et ses pâturages,
14 And Jattir with its suburbs, and Eshtemoa with its suburbs,
Jattir et ses pâturages, Eshtemoa et ses pâturages,
15 And Holon with its suburbs, and Debir with its suburbs,
Holon et ses pâturages, Debir et ses pâturages,
16 And Ain with its suburbs, and Juttah with its suburbs, [and] Beth-shemesh with its suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.
Ain et ses pâturages, Juttah et ses pâturages, Beth Shemesh et ses pâturages: neuf villes de ces deux tribus.
17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,

18 Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs; four cities.

19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, [were] thirteen cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des fils d'Aaron, les sacrificateurs, étaient au nombre de treize, avec leurs pâturages.
20 And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites who remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
Les familles des fils de Kehath, les Lévites, le reste des fils de Kehath, eurent les villes de leur lot sur la tribu d'Éphraïm.
21 For they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in mount Ephraim, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with its suburbs,
On leur donna Sichem et ses pâturages, dans la montagne d'Éphraïm, ville de refuge pour l'homme meurtrier, Guézer et ses pâturages,
22 And Kibzaim with its suburbs, and Beth-horon with its suburbs; four cities.
Kibzaïm et ses pâturages, et Beth Horon et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,
De la tribu de Dan, Elteke et ses pâturages, Gibbethon et ses pâturages,
24 Ajalon with its suburbs, Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; four cities.
Aijalon et ses pâturages, Gath Rimmon et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
25 And out of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Taanach with its suburbs, and Gath-rimmon with its suburbs; two cities.
De la demi-tribu de Manassé, Taanac et ses pâturages, et Gath Rimmon et ses pâturages: deux villes.
26 All the cities [were] ten with their suburbs, for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.
Toutes les villes des familles du reste des fils de Kehath furent au nombre de dix, avec leurs pâturages.
27 And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the [other] half-tribe of Manasseh [they gave] Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer, and Beesh-terah with its suburbs; two cities.
On donna aux fils de Guerschon, des familles de Lévites, de la demi-tribu de Manassé, Golan en Basan et ses pâturages, la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Be Eshterah et ses pâturages: deux villes.
28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with its suburbs, Dabareh with its suburbs,
De la tribu d'Issacar: Kishion et ses pâturages, Daberath et ses pâturages,
29 Jarmuth with its suburbs, En-gannim with its suburbs; four cities.
Jarmuth et ses pâturages, En Gannim et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,

31 Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs; four cities.
Helkath et ses pâturages, et Rehob et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammoth-dor with its suburbs, and Kartan with its suburbs; three cities.
De la tribu de Nephtali, Kedesh en Galilée et ses pâturages, la ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, Hammothdor et ses pâturages, et Kartan et ses pâturages: trois villes.
33 All the cities of the Gershonites, according to their families, [were] thirteen cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des Guershonites, selon leurs familles, étaient au nombre de treize, avec leurs pâturages.
34 And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with its suburbs, and Kartah with its suburbs,
Pour les familles des fils de Merari, le reste des Lévites, de la tribu de Zabulon: Jokneam et ses pâturages, Karta et ses pâturages,
35 Dimnah with its suburbs, Nahalal with its suburbs; four cities.
Dimnah et ses pâturages, et Nahalal et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with its suburbs, and Jahazah with its suburbs,
Pour la tribu de Ruben: Betser et ses pâturages, Jahaz et ses pâturages,
37 Kedemoth with its suburbs, and Mephaath with its suburbs; four cities.
Kedemoth et ses pâturages, et Mephaath et ses pâturages: quatre villes.
38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs [to be] a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with its suburbs,
De la tribu de Gad, Ramoth en Galaad et ses pâturages, la ville de refuge du meurtrier, Mahanaïm et ses pâturages,
39 Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all.
Hesbon et ses pâturages, Jazer et ses pâturages: quatre villes en tout.
40 So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were [by] their lot twelve cities.
Telles furent les villes des fils de Merari, selon leurs familles, le reste des familles des Lévites. Leur lot était de douze villes.
41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel [were] forty and eight cities with their suburbs.
Toutes les villes des Lévites parmi les possessions des enfants d'Israël étaient au nombre de quarante-huit, avec leurs pâturages.
42 These cities were every one with their suburbs around them. Thus [were] all these cities.
Chacune de ces villes était entourée de ses pâturages. Il en était ainsi pour toutes ces villes.
43 And the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers: and they possessed it, and dwelt in it.
Yahvé donna à Israël tout le pays qu'il avait juré de donner à leurs pères. Ils le possédèrent et l'habitèrent.
44 And the LORD gave them rest on all sides, according to all that he swore to their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.
Yahvé leur donna du repos tout autour, selon tout ce qu'il avait juré à leurs pères. Pas un homme de tous leurs ennemis ne se tint devant eux. L'Éternel livra tous leurs ennemis entre leurs mains.
45 There failed not aught of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.
Rien ne manqua de ce que Yahvé avait dit de bon à la maison d'Israël. Tout s'accomplit.
