Joshua 14

1 And these [are the countries] which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed for inheritance to them.

Isto, pois, é o que os filhos de Israel tomaram por herança na terra de Canaã, o qual lhes repartiram Eleazar sacerdote, e Josué filho de Num, e os principais dos pais das tribos dos filhos de Israel.

2 By lot [was] their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and [for] the half-tribe.

Por sorte deu-se a eles sua herança, como o SENHOR o havia mandado por Moisés, que desse às nove tribos e à meia tribo.

3 For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and a half-tribe on the other side of Jordan: but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

Porque às duas tribos, e à meia tribo, lhes havia Moisés dado herança da outra parte do Jordão: mas aos levitas não deu herança entre eles.

4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part to the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell [in], with their suburbs for their cattle, and for their substance.

Porque os filhos de José foram duas tribos, Manassés e Efraim: e não deram parte aos levitas na terra, mas sim cidades em que morassem, com seus campos para seus gados e rebanhos.

5 As the LORD commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.

Da maneira que o SENHOR o havia mandado a Moisés, assim o fizeram os filhos de Israel na repartição da terra.

6 Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said to him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said to Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh-barnea.

E os filhos de Judá vieram a Josué em Gilgal; e Calebe, filho de Jefoné quenezeu, lhe disse: Tu sabes o que o SENHOR disse a Moisés, homem de Deus, em Cades-Barneia, tocante a mim e a ti.

7 Forty years old [was] I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land; and I brought him word again as it [was] in my heart.

Eu era de idade de quarenta anos, quando Moisés servo do SENHOR me enviou de Cades-Barneia a reconhecer a terra; e eu lhe mencionei o negócio como o tinha em meu coração:

8 Nevertheless, my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.

Mas meus irmãos, os que haviam subido comigo, minguaram o coração do povo; porém eu cumpri seguindo ao SENHOR meu Deus.

9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land on which thy feet have trodden shall be thy inheritance, and thy children's for ever; because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.

Então Moisés jurou, dizendo: Se a terra que pisou teu pé não for para ti, e para teus filhos em herança perpétua: porquanto cumpriste seguindo ao SENHOR meu Deus.

10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the LORD spoke this word to Moses, while [the children of] Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I [am] this day eighty five years old.

Agora bem, o SENHOR me fez viver, como ele disse, estes quarenta e cinco anos, desde o tempo que o SENHOR falou estas palavras a Moisés, quando Israel andava pelo deserto: e agora, eis que sou hoje dia de oitenta e cinco anos:

11 As yet I [am as] strong this day, as [I was] in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength [was] then, even so [is] my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.

Porém ainda hoje estou tão forte como o dia que Moisés me enviou: qual era então minha força, tal é agora, para a guerra, e para sair e para entrar.

12 Now therefore give me this mountain, of which the LORD spoke in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fortified: if the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.

Dá-me, pois, agora este monte, do qual falou o SENHOR aquele dia; porque tu ouviste naquele dia que os anaquins estão ali, e grandes e fortes cidades. Talvez o SENHOR seja comigo, e os expulsarei como o SENHOR disse.

13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

Josué então lhe abençoou, e deu a Calebe filho de Jefoné a Hebrom por herança.

14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite to this day; because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.

Portanto Hebrom foi de Calebe, filho de Jefoné quenezeu, em herança até hoje; porque cumpriu seguindo ao SENHOR Deus de Israel.

15 And the name of Hebron before [was] Kirjath-arba; [which Arba was] a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.

Mas Hebrom foi antes chamada Quiriate-Arba; foi Arba um homem grande entre os anaquins. E a terra teve repouso das guerras.
