< John 5 >
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Lẹ́yìn nǹkan wọ̀nyí, àjọ àwọn Júù kan kò; Jesu sì gòkè lọ sí Jerusalẹmu.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep [market] a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, having five porches.
Adágún omi kan sì wà ní Jerusalẹmu, létí bodè àgùntàn, tí a ń pè ní Betisaida ní èdè Heberu, tí ó ní ẹnu-ọ̀nà márùn-ún.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent persons, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ odò yìí ni ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn abirùn ènìyàn máa ń gbé dùbúlẹ̀ sí, àwọn afọ́jú, arọ àti aláàrùn ẹ̀gbà.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and agitated the water: whoever then first after the stirring of the water stepped in, was cured of whatever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
Ọkùnrin kan wà níbẹ̀, ẹni tí ó tí wà ní àìlera fún ọdún méjìdínlógójì.
6 When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time [in that case], he saith to him, Wilt thou be healed?
Bí Jesu ti rí i ní ìdùbúlẹ̀, tí ó sì mọ̀ pé ó pẹ́ tí ó ti wà bẹ́ẹ̀, ó wí fún un pé, “Ìwọ fẹ́ kí a mú ọ láradá bí?”
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is agitated, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Abirùn náà dá a lóhùn wí pé, “Arákùnrin, èmi kò ní ẹni tí ìbá gbé mi sínú adágún, nígbà tí a bá ń rú omi náà, bí èmi bá ti ń bọ̀ wá, ẹlòmíràn a sọ̀kalẹ̀ sínú rẹ̀ síwájú mi.”
8 Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Jesu wí fún un pé, “Dìde, gbé àkéte rẹ, kí o sì máa rìn.”
9 And immediately the man was healed, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
Lọ́gán, a sì mú ọkùnrin náà láradá, ó sì gbé àkéte rẹ̀, ó sì ń rìn. Ọjọ́ náà sì jẹ́ ọjọ́ ìsinmi.
10 The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, it is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to carry [thy] bed.
Nítorí náà àwọn Júù wí fún ọkùnrin náà tí a mú láradá pé, “Ọjọ́ ìsinmi ni òní; kò tọ́ fún ọ láti gbé àkéte rẹ.”
11 He answered them, He that healed me, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
Ó sì dá wọn lóhùn wí pé, “Ẹni tí ó mú mi láradá, ni ó wí fún mi pé, ‘Gbé àkéte rẹ, kí o sì máa rìn.’”
12 Then they asked him, What man is that who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
Nígbà náà ni wọ́n bi í lérè wí pé, “Ọkùnrin wo ni ẹni tí ó wí fún ọ pé gbé àkéte rẹ, kí o sì máa rìn?”
13 And he that was healed knew not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in [that] place.
Ẹni tí a mú láradá náà kò sì mọ̀ ẹni tí ó jẹ́ nítorí Jesu ti kúrò níbẹ̀, àwọn ènìyàn púpọ̀ wà níbẹ̀.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art cured: sin no more, lest a worse thing come to thee.
Lẹ́yìn náà, Jesu rí i nínú tẹmpili ó sì wí fún un pé, “Wò ó, a mú ọ láradá: má ṣe dẹ́ṣẹ̀ mọ́, kí ohun tí ó burú ju èyí lọ má ba à bá ọ!”
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.
Ọkùnrin náà lọ, ó sì sọ fún àwọn Júù pé, Jesu ni ẹni tí ó mú òun láradá.
16 And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
Nítorí èyí ni àwọn Júù ṣe inúnibíni sí Jesu, wọ́n sì ń wá ọ̀nà láti pa á, nítorí tí o ń ṣe nǹkan wọ̀nyí ní ọjọ́ ìsinmi.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
Ṣùgbọ́n Jesu dá wọn lóhùn pé, “Baba mi ń ṣiṣẹ́ títí di ìsinsin yìí, èmi náà sì ń ṣiṣẹ́.”
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Nítorí èyí ni àwọn Júù túbọ̀ ń wá ọ̀nà láti pa á, kì í ṣe nítorí pé ó ba ọjọ́ ìsinmi jẹ́ nìkan ni, ṣùgbọ́n ó wí pẹ̀lú pé, Baba òun ni Ọlọ́run jẹ́, ó ń mú ara rẹ̀ bá Ọlọ́run dọ́gba.
19 Then answered Jesus, and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing by himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for whatever things he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Nígbà náà ni Jesu dáhùn, ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ọmọ kò lè ṣe ohunkóhun fún ara rẹ̀, bí kò ṣe ohun tí ó bá rí pé Baba ń ṣe, nítorí ohunkóhun tí baba bá ń ṣe, ìwọ̀nyí ni ọmọ náà sì ń ṣe pẹ̀lú.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Nítorí Baba fẹ́ràn ọmọ, ó sì ti fi ohun gbogbo tí ó ń ṣe hàn án, òun yóò sì fi iṣẹ́ tí ó tóbi jù wọ̀nyí lọ hàn án, kí ẹnu lè yà yín.
21 For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth [them]; even so the Son reviveth whom he will.
Nítorí pé, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba ti ń jí òkú dìde, tí ó sì ń sọ wọ́n di alààyè: bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọmọ ń sọ àwọn tí ó fẹ́ di alààyè pẹ̀lú.
22 For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son:
Nítorí pé Baba kì í ṣe ìdájọ́ ẹnikẹ́ni, ṣùgbọ́n ó ti fi gbogbo ìdájọ́ lé ọmọ lọ́wọ́,
23 That all [men] should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.
kí gbogbo ènìyàn lè máa fi ọlá fún ọmọ gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti ń fi ọlá fún Baba. Ẹnikẹ́ni tí kò bá fi ọlá fún ọmọ, kò fi ọlá fún Baba tí ó ran an.
24 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life. (aiōnios )
“Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, ẹnikẹ́ni tí ó bá gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi, tí ó bá sì gba ẹni tí ó rán mi gbọ́, ó ní ìyè tí kò nípẹ̀kun, òun kì yóò sì wá sí ìdájọ́; ṣùgbọ́n ó ti ré ikú kọjá bọ́ sí ìyè. (aiōnios )
25 Verily, verily, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Lóòótọ́, lóòótọ́ ni mo wí fún yín, wákàtí náà ń bọ̀, ó sì dé tán nísinsin yìí, nígbà tí àwọn òkú yóò gbọ́ ohùn Ọmọ Ọlọ́run, àwọn tí ó bá gbọ́ yóò sì yè.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Nítorí pé gẹ́gẹ́ bí Baba ti ní ìyè nínú ara rẹ̀; gẹ́gẹ́ bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ó sì fi fún ọmọ láti ní ìyè nínú ara rẹ̀;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
Ó sì fún un ní àṣẹ láti máa ṣe ìdájọ́ pẹ̀lú, nítorí tí òun jẹ́ Ọmọ Ènìyàn.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
“Kí èyí má ṣe yà yín lẹ́nu; nítorí pé wákàtí ń bọ̀, nínú èyí tí gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà ní ibojì yóò gbọ́ ohun rẹ̀.
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.
Wọn ó sì jáde wá; àwọn tí ó ṣe rere, sí àjíǹde ìyè; àwọn tí ó sì ṣe búburú sí àjíǹde ìdájọ́.
30 I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.
Èmi kò le ṣe ohun kan fún ara mi, bí mo ti ń gbọ́ ni, mo ń dájọ́, òdodo sì ni ìdájọ́ mi; nítorí èmi kò wá ìfẹ́ ti èmi fúnra mi, bí kò ṣe ìfẹ́ ti ẹni tí ó rán mi.
31 If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true.
“Bí èmi bá ń jẹ́rìí ara mi, ẹ̀rí mi kì í ṣe òtítọ́.
32 There is another that testifieth concerning me, and I know that the testimony which he beareth concerning me is true.
Ẹlòmíràn ni ẹni tí ń jẹ́rìí mi; èmi sì mọ̀ pé, òtítọ́ ni ẹ̀rí mi tí ó jẹ́.
33 Ye sent to John, and he testified to the truth.
“Ẹ̀yin ti ránṣẹ́ lọ sọ́dọ̀ Johanu, òun sì ti jẹ́rìí sí òtítọ́.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye may be saved.
Ṣùgbọ́n èmi kò gba ẹ̀rí lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn, nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni èmi ń sọ, kí ẹ̀yin lè là.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
Òun ni fìtílà tí ó ń jó, tí ó sì ń tànmọ́lẹ̀, ẹ̀yin sì fẹ́ fún sá à kan láti máa yọ̀ nínú ìmọ́lẹ̀ rẹ̀.
36 But I have greater testimony than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear testimony concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.
“Ṣùgbọ́n èmi ní ẹ̀rí tí ó pọ̀jù ti Johanu lọ. Nítorí iṣẹ́ tí Baba ti fi fún mi láti ṣe parí, iṣẹ́ náà pàápàá tí èmi ń ṣe náà ń jẹ́rìí mi pé, Baba ni ó rán mi.
37 And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath borne testimony concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
Àti Baba tìkára rẹ̀ tí ó rán mi ti jẹ́rìí mi. Ẹ̀yin kò gbọ́ ohùn rẹ̀ nígbà kan rí, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹ kò rí ìrísí rẹ̀.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
Ẹ kò sì ní ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ láti máa gbé inú yín, nítorí ẹni tí ó rán, òun ni ẹ̀yin kò gbàgbọ́.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (aiōnios )
Ẹ̀yin ń wá ìwé mímọ́ nítorí ẹ̀yin rò pé nínú wọn ni ẹ̀yin ní ìyè tí kò nípẹ̀kun. Wọ̀nyí sì ni àwọn tí ó ń jẹ́rìí mi. (aiōnios )
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.
Ẹ̀yin kò sì fẹ́ láti wá sọ́dọ̀ mi, kí ẹ̀yin ba à lè ní ìyè.
41 I receive not honor from men.
“Èmi kò gba ògo lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
Ṣùgbọ́n èmi mọ̀ pé, ẹ̀yin fúnra yín kò ní ìfẹ́ Ọlọ́run nínú yín.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Èmi wá ní orúkọ Baba mi, ẹ̀yin kò sì gbà mí; bí ẹlòmíràn bá wá ní orúkọ ara rẹ̀, òun ni ẹ̀yin yóò gbà.
44 How can ye believe, who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that [cometh] from God only?
Ẹ̀yin ó ti ṣe lè gbàgbọ́, ẹ̀yin tí ń gba ògo lọ́dọ̀ ara yín tí kò wá ògo tí ó ti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run nìkan wá?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] that accuseth you, [even] Moses, in whom ye trust.
“Ẹ má ṣe rò pé, èmi ó fi yín sùn lọ́dọ̀ Baba, ẹni tí ń fi yín sùn wà, àní Mose, ẹni tí ẹ̀yin gbẹ́kẹ̀lé.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote concerning me.
Nítorí pé ẹ̀yin ìbá gba Mose gbọ́, ẹ̀yin ìbá gbà mí gbọ́, nítorí ó kọ ìwé nípa tèmi.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
Ṣùgbọ́n bí ẹ̀yin kò bá gba ìwé rẹ̀ gbọ́, ẹ̀yin ó ti ṣe gbà ọ̀rọ̀ mi gbọ́?”
