John 5
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews: and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Depois disto houve uma festa dos judeus, e subiu Jesus para Jerusalém.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep [market] a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, having five porches.
E há em Jerusalém à [porta] das ovelhas um tanque, que em hebraico se chama Betesda, que tem cinco entradas cobertas.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent persons, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
Nestes jazia grande multidão de enfermos, cegos, mancos, [e de corpo] ressecado«, aguardando o movimento da água.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and agitated the water: whoever then first after the stirring of the water stepped in, was cured of whatever disease he had.
Porque um anjo descia de vez em quando ao tanque, e agitava a água; e o primeiro que descia nele, depois do movimento da água, sarava de qualquer enfermidade que tivesse.»
5 And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
E estava ali um certo homem, que havia trinta e oito anos que estava enfermo.
6 When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been now a long time [in that case], he saith to him, Wilt thou be healed?
Vendo Jesus a este deitado, e sabendo, que já havia muito tempo que [ali] jazia, disse-lhe: Queres sarar?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is agitated, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Respondeu-lhe o enfermo: Senhor, não tenho homem algum para que, quando a água se agita, me ponha no tanque; e enquanto eu venho, outro desce antes de mim.
8 Jesus saith to him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
Disse-lhe Jesus: Levanta-te, toma teu leito, e anda.
9 And immediately the man was healed, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
E logo aquele homem sarou; e tomou seu leito, e andou. E era Sábado aquele dia.
10 The Jews therefore said to him that was cured, it is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to carry [thy] bed.
Disseram pois os judeus para aquele que fora curado: É Sábado, não te é lícito levar o leito.
11 He answered them, He that healed me, the same said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
Respondeu-lhes ele: Aquele que me curou, esse me disse: Toma teu leito, e anda.
12 Then they asked him, What man is that who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
Perguntaram-lhe pois: Quem é o homem que te disse: Toma teu leito e anda?
13 And he that was healed knew not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in [that] place.
E o que fora curado, não sabia quem [o] era, porque Jesus se havia retirado, porque naquele lugar havia uma [grande] multidão.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said to him, Behold, thou art cured: sin no more, lest a worse thing come to thee.
Depois Jesus achou-o no Templo, e disse-lhe: Eis que já estás são; não peques mais, para que não te suceda alguma coisa pior.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.
Aquele homem foi anunciar aos judeus que Jesus era o que o curara.
16 And therefore the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
E por isso os judeus perseguiam Jesus, porque ele fazia estas coisas no sábado.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
E Jesus lhes respondeu: Meu Pai até agora trabalha, e eu [também] trabalho.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Por isto ainda mais procuravam os Judeus matá-lo, porque não só quebrava o sábado, mas também dizia que Deus era seu próprio Pai, fazendo-se igual a Deus.
19 Then answered Jesus, and said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, The Son can do nothing by himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for whatever things he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Respondeu pois Jesus, e disse-lhes: Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que não pode o Filho fazer coisa alguma de si mesmo, a não ser aquilo que ele veja o Pai fazer; porque todas as coisas que ele faz, semelhantemente o Filho também as faz.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Porque o Pai ama ao Filho, e todas as coisas que faz lhe mostra; e maiores obras que estas lhe mostrará, para que vós vos maravilheis.
21 For as the Father raiseth the dead, and reviveth [them]; even so the Son reviveth whom he will.
Porque como o Pai aos mortos ressuscita e vivifica, assim também o Filho aos que quer vivifica.
22 For the Father judgeth no man; but hath committed all judgment to the Son:
Porque também o Pai a ninguém julga, mas todo o juízo deu ao Filho,
23 That all [men] should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honoreth not the Son, honoreth not the Father who hath sent him.
Para que todos honrem ao Filho, como honram ao Pai. Quem não honra ao Filho, não honra ao Pai que o enviou.
24 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but hath passed from death to life. (aiōnios g166)
Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que quem ouve minha palavra, e crê ao que me enviou, tem vida eterna, e não virá em condenação, mas passou da morte para a vida. (aiōnios g166)
25 Verily, verily, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Em verdade, em verdade vos digo, que a hora vem, e agora é, quando os mortos ouvirão a voz do Filho de Deus, e aos que ao ouvirem, viverão.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
Porque como o Pai tem vida em si mesmo, assim deu também ao Filho que tivesse vida em si mesmo.
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
E deu-lhe poder, para fazer juízo, porque é o Filho do homem.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
Não vos maravilheis disto; porque a hora vem, em que todos os que estão nos sepulcros ouvirão sua voz.
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.
E sairão os que fizeram bem, para a ressurreição de vida; e os que fizeram mal, à ressurreição de condenação.
30 I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me.
Não posso eu de mim mesmo fazer alguma coisa. Como ouço, [assim] julgo; e meu juízo é justo; porque não busco minha vontade, mas a vontade do Pai que me enviou.
31 If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not true.
Se eu testemunho de mim mesmo, meu testemunho não é verdadeiro.
32 There is another that testifieth concerning me, and I know that the testimony which he beareth concerning me is true.
Outro há que testemunha de mim, e sei que o testemunho, que testemunha de mim, é verdadeiro.
33 Ye sent to John, and he testified to the truth.
Vós enviastes [mensageiros] a João, e ele deu testemunho à verdade.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye may be saved.
Porém eu não recebo testemunho humano; mas digo isto para que sejais salvos.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
Ele era uma lâmpada ardente e brilhante; e vós quisestes por um pouco de tempo alegrar em sua luz.
36 But I have greater testimony than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear testimony concerning me, that the Father hath sent me.
Mas eu tenho maior testemunho que [o] de João; porque as obras que o Pai me deu que cumprisse, as mesmas obras que eu faço, testemunham de mim que o Pai me enviou.
37 And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath borne testimony concerning me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
E o Pai que me enviou, ele mesmo testemunhou de mim. Nunca ouvistes sua voz, nem vistes sua aparência.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
E não tendes sua palavra permanecendo em vós; porque ao que ele enviou, a esse vós não credes.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (aiōnios g166)
Investigai as Escrituras; porque vós pensais que nelas tendes a vida eterna, e elas são as que de mim testemunham. (aiōnios g166)
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.
E não quereis vir a mim, para que tenhais vida.
41 I receive not honor from men.
Não recebo honra humana.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
Mas eu bem vos conheço que não tendes o amor de Deus em vós mesmos.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
Eu vim em nome de meu Pai, e vós não me aceitais; se outro vier em seu próprio nome, a esse aceitareis.
44 How can ye believe, who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that [cometh] from God only?
Como podeis vós crer, [se] tomais honra uns dos outros, e não buscais a honra que [vem] somente de Deus?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is [one] that accuseth you, [even] Moses, in whom ye trust.
Não penseis que eu vos tenha de acusar para com o Pai; o que vos acusa é Moisés, em quem vós esperais.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote concerning me.
Porque se vós crêsseis em Moisés, [também] a mim me creríeis; porque de mim ele escreveu.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
Mas se não credes em seus escritos, como crereis em minhas palavras?
