Job 35
1 Elihu spoke moreover, and said,
Elihú je poleg tega spregovoril in rekel:
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, [that] thou saidst, My righteousness [is] more than God's?
»Mar misliš, da je to pravilno, da govoriš: ›Moja pravičnost je večja kakor Božja?‹
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be to thee? [and], What profit shall I have, [if I be cleansed] from my sin?
Kajti praviš: ›Kakšna prednost ti bo to?‹ in ›Kakšno korist bom imel, če bom očiščen pred svojim grehom?‹
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
Odgovoril ti bom in tvojim družabnikom s teboj.
5 Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds [which] are higher than thou.
Poglej v nebo in glej. Ogleduj oblake, ki so višje kakor ti.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or [if] thy transgressions are multiplied, what doest thou to him?
Če grešiš, kaj delaš zoper njega? Ali če so tvoji prestopki pomnoženi, kaj mu delaš?
7 If thou art righteous, what givest thou to him? or what receiveth he from thy hand?
Če si pravičen, kaj mu daješ? Ali kaj on prejema iz tvoje roke?
8 Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou [art]: and thy righteousness [may profit] the son of man.
Tvoja zlobnost lahko prizadene človeka, kakor si ti in tvoja pravičnost lahko koristi človeškemu sinu.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make [the oppressed] to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
Zaradi množice zatiranj povzročajo zatiranim, da kričijo. Vpijejo zaradi lakta mogočnega.
10 But none saith, Where [is] God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
Toda nihče ne pravi: ›Kje je Bog, moj stvarnik, ki daje pesmi ponoči,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
ki nas uči več kakor zemeljske živali in nas dela modrejše kakor perjad neba?‹
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Tam vpijejo, toda nihče ne daje odgovora zaradi ponosa zlobnežev.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Bog zagotovo ne bo slišal prazne reči niti se Vsemogočni na to ne bo oziral.
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, [yet] judgment [is] before him; therefore trust thou in him.
Čeprav praviš, da ga ne boš videl, je vendar sodba pred njim, zato zaupaj vanj.
15 But now, because [it is] not [so], he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth [it] not in great extremity:
Toda sedaj, ker to ni tako, je obiskal v svoji jezi, vendar on tega v veliki skrajnosti ne pozna.
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Job zato svoja usta zaman odpira. Besede množi brez spoznanja.«
