Job 35
1 Elihu spoke moreover, and said,
Και επανέλαβεν ο Ελιού και είπε·
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, [that] thou saidst, My righteousness [is] more than God's?
Στοχάζεσαι ότι είναι ορθόν τούτο, το οποίον είπας, Είμαι δικαιότερος του Θεού;
3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be to thee? [and], What profit shall I have, [if I be cleansed] from my sin?
Διότι είπας, Τις ωφέλεια θέλει είσθαι εις σε; Τι κέρδος θέλω λάβει εκ τούτου μάλλον παρά εκ της αμαρτίας μου;
4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
Εγώ θέλω αποκριθή προς σε και προς τους φίλους σου μετά σου.
5 Look to the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds [which] are higher than thou.
Ανάβλεψον εις τους ουρανούς και ιδέ· και θεώρησον τα νέφη, πόσον υψηλότερά σου είναι.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or [if] thy transgressions are multiplied, what doest thou to him?
Εάν αμαρτάνης, τι πράττεις κατ' αυτού; ή αν αι παραβάσεις σου πολλαπλασιασθώσι, τι κατορθόνεις κατ' αυτού;
7 If thou art righteous, what givest thou to him? or what receiveth he from thy hand?
Εάν ήσαι δίκαιος, τι θέλεις δώσει εις αυτόν; ή τι θέλει λάβει εκ της χειρός σου;
8 Thy wickedness [may hurt] a man as thou [art]: and thy righteousness [may profit] the son of man.
Η ασέβειά σου δύναται να βλάψη άνθρωπον ως σέ· και η δικαιοσύνη σου δύναται να ωφελήση υιόν ανθρώπου.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make [the oppressed] to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
Εκ του πλήθους των καταθλιβόντων καταβοώσι· κραυγάζουσιν ένεκεν του βραχίονος των ισχυρών·
10 But none saith, Where [is] God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
Αλλ' ουδείς λέγει, που είναι ο Θεός ο Ποιητής μου, όστις δίδει άσματα εις την νύκτα,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
Όστις συνετίζει ημάς υπέρ τα κτήνη της γης, και σοφίζει ημάς υπέρ τα πετεινά του ουρανού;
12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Εκεί βοώσι διά την υπερηφανίαν των πονηρών, δεν θέλει όμως αποκριθή.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Ο Θεός βεβαίως δεν θέλει εισακούσει της ματαιολογίας, ουδέ θέλει επιβλέψει ο Παντοδύναμος εις αυτήν·
14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, [yet] judgment [is] before him; therefore trust thou in him.
πόσον ολιγώτερον όταν συ λέγης, ότι δεν θέλεις ιδεί αυτόν· η κρίσις όμως είναι ενώπιον αυτού· όθεν έχε το θάρρος σου επ' αυτόν.
15 But now, because [it is] not [so], he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth [it] not in great extremity:
Αλλά τώρα, επειδή δεν επεσκέφθη εν τω θυμώ αυτού και δεν παρετήρησε μετά μεγάλης αυστηρότητος,
16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
διά τούτο ο Ιώβ ανοίγει το στόμα αυτού ματαίως· επισωρεύει λόγους εν αγνωσία.
