Job 22
1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
পরে তৈমনীয় ইলীফস উত্তর দিলেন:
2 Can a man be profitable to God, as he that is wise may be profitable to himself?
“কোনও মানুষ কি ঈশ্বরের পক্ষে লাভজনক হবে? একজন জ্ঞানবানও কি তাঁর উপকার করতে পারবে?
3 [Is it] any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or [is it] gain [to him], that thou makest thy ways perfect?
তুমি ধার্মিক হলেও তা সর্বশক্তিমানকে কী আনন্দ দেবে? তোমার আচরণ অনিন্দনীয় হলেও তাতে তাঁর কী লাভ?
4 Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
“তোমার ভক্তি দেখেই কি তিনি তোমাকে তিরস্কার করেন ও তোমার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ আনেন?
5 [Is] not thy wickedness great? and thy iniquities infinite?
তোমার দুষ্টতা কি অত্যধিক নয়? তোমার পাপগুলিও কি অপার নয়?
6 For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for naught, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
অকারণে তুমি তোমার আত্মীয়দের কাছ থেকে জামানত চেয়েছ; তুমি লোকদের পরনের পোশাক কেড়ে নিয়েছ, তাদের উলঙ্গ করে ছেড়েছ।
7 Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withheld bread from the hungry.
তুমি ক্লান্ত মানুষকে জল দাওনি ও ক্ষুধার্ত মানুষকে খাদ্য দিতে অসম্মত হয়েছ,
8 But [as for] the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honorable man dwelt in it.
যদিও তুমি এক ক্ষমতাপরায়ণ লোক, দেশের অধিকারী ছিলে— এমন এক সম্মানিত লোক ছিলে, যে সেখানেই বসবাস করত।
9 Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
আর তুমি বিধবাদের খালি হাতে বিদায় করতে, ও পিতৃহীনদের শক্তি চূর্ণ করতে।
10 Therefore snares [are] around thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
সেইজন্যই তোমার চারপাশে ফাঁদ পাতা আছে, আকস্মিক বিপদ তোমাকে আতঙ্কিত করে,
11 Or darkness, [that] thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
এত অন্ধকার হয়েছে যে তুমি দেখতে পাচ্ছ না, ও জলের বন্যা তোমাকে ঢেকে ফেলেছে।
12 [Is] not God in the hight of heaven? and behold the hight of the stars, how high they are!
“ঈশ্বর কি স্বর্গের উচ্চতায় বিরাজমান নন? আর দেখো অতি উচ্চে অবস্থিত তারাগুলি কত উঁচু!
13 And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
তবুও তুমি বলো, ‘ঈশ্বর কী-ই বা জানেন? এ ধরনের অন্ধকার দিয়ে তিনি কি বিচার করেন?
14 Thick clouds [are] a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
ঘন মেঘ তাঁকে আড়াল করে রাখে, তাই তিনি আমাদের দেখতে পান না যেহেতু তিনি খিলানযুক্ত আকাশমণ্ডলে বিচরণ করেন।’
15 Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
তুমি কি সেই পুরানো পথই ধরবে যে পথে দুষ্টেরা পা ফেলেছিল?
16 Who were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood!
তাদের তো অকালেই উঠিয়ে নেওয়া হয়েছিল, তাদের ভিত্তিমূল বন্যায় ভেসে গিয়েছে।
17 Who said to God, depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them!
তারা ঈশ্বরকে বলেছিল, ‘আমাদের ছেড়ে দাও! সর্বশক্তিমান আমাদের কী করবেন?’
18 Yet he filled their houses with good [things]: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
অথচ তিনিই তাদের বাড়িঘর ভালো ভালো জিনিসপত্রে ভরিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন, তাই আমি দুষ্টদের পরিকল্পনা থেকে দূরে সরে দাঁড়াই।
19 The righteous see [it], and are glad: and the innocent deride them.
ধার্মিকেরা তাদের বিনাশ দেখে ও আনন্দ করে; নির্দোষেরা তাদের বিদ্রুপ করে বলে,
20 Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
‘আমাদের শত্রুরা নিশ্চয় ধ্বংস হয়েছে, ও আগুন তাদের ধনসম্পদ গ্রাস করেছে।’
21 Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: by this good shall come to thee.
“ঈশ্বরের হাতে নিজেকে সমর্পণ করো ও শান্তি পাও; এভাবেই তুমি সমৃদ্ধিলাভ করবে।
22 Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart.
তাঁর মুখ থেকে শিক্ষাগ্রহণ করো ও তোমার হৃদয়ে তাঁর বাক্য সঞ্চয় করে রাখো।
23 If thou shalt return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
তুমি যদি সর্বশক্তিমানের দিকে ফেরো, তবে তুমি পুনঃস্থাপিত হবে: তুমি যদি তোমার তাঁবু থেকে দুষ্টতা দূর করো
24 Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the [gold] of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
ও তোমার সোনার তাল ধুলোতে রাখো, তোমার ওফীরের সোনা গিরিখাতের পাষাণ-পাথরের মধ্যে রাখো,
25 Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defense and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
তবে সর্বশক্তিমানই তোমার সোনা হবেন, তোমার জন্য অসাধারণ রুপো হবেন।
26 For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face to God.
তখন নিশ্চয় তুমি সর্বশক্তিমানে আনন্দ খুঁজে পাবে ও তোমার মুখ ঈশ্বরের দিকে তুলে ধরবে।
27 Thou shalt make thy prayer to him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
তুমি তাঁর কাছে প্রার্থনা করবে, এবং তিনি তোমার প্রার্থনা শুনবেন, ও তুমি তোমার মানতগুলি পূরণ করবে।
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established to thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
তুমি যে সিদ্ধান্ত নেবে তাই সফল হবে, ও তোমার পথগুলি আলোয় উজ্জ্বল হবে।
29 When [men] are cast down, then thou shalt say, [There is] exaltation; and he shall save the humble person.
মানুষকে যখন অবনত করা হয় ও তুমি বলো, ‘ওদের তুলে ধরো!’ তখন তিনি হতোদ্যমকে উদ্ধার করবেন।
30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thy hands.
যে নির্দোষ নয় তিনি তাকেও উদ্ধার করবেন, তোমার হাতের পরিচ্ছন্নতায় সে উদ্ধার পাবে।”
