Job 20
1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
| آنگاه صوفر نعماتی پاسخ داد: |
2 Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.
| ای ایوب، بیش از این نمی‌توانم حرفهای تو را تحمل کنم و مجبورم جوابت را بدهم. |
3 I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
| توهین‌هایت را تحمل کرده‌ام اما الان مجبورم پاسخ تو را بدهم. |
4 Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
| مگر نمی‌دانی که از دوران قدیم که انسان بر زمین قرار داده شد خوشبختی شریران همیشه زودگذر بوده است؟ |
5 That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?
6 Though his excellence shall mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds;
| اگرچه مرد بدکار سرافراز گردد و شوکتش سر به فلک کشد، |
7 [Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they who have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?
| ولی به‌زودی مثل فضله به دور انداخته شده، نابود خواهد گردید و کسانی که او را می‌شناختند حیران شده، خواهند گفت که او چه شد؟ |
8 He shall fly away as a dream, and will not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
| او همچون یک رؤیا محو خواهد شد. |
9 The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
| دیگر هرگز نه دوستانش او را خواهند دید و نه خانواده‌اش. |
10 His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
| فرزندانش از فقیران گدایی خواهند کرد و با زحمت و مشقت قرضهای پدرشان را خواهند پرداخت. |
11 His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
| هنوز به پیری نرسیده، خواهد مرد و استخوانهایش در خاک خواهد پوسید. |
12 Though wickedness may be sweet in his mouth, [though] he may hide it under his tongue;
| او از طعم شرارت لذت می‌برد و آن را در دهان خود نگه داشته، مزه‌مزه می‌کند. |
13 [Though] he may spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14 [Yet] his food in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.
| اما آنچه که خورده است در معده‌اش ترش می‌شود، و در شکمش به زهرِ مار تبدیل می‌گردد. |
15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
| ثروتی را که بلعیده، قی خواهد کرد؛ خدا آن را از شکمش بیرون خواهد کشید. |
16 He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.
| آنچه خورده است مانند زهر مار تلخ شده، طعم مرگ خواهد داشت. |
17 He shall not see the river, the floods, the brooks of honey and buttermilk.
| او دیگر از نهرهای روغن زیتون، شیر و عسل لذت نخواهد برد. |
18 That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it]: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [in it].
| زحماتش برای او ثمری نخواهد داشت و ثروتش باعث خوشی او نخواهد شد. |
19 Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.
| زیرا به فقرا ظلم کرده، آنها را از خانه و زندگیشان محروم ساخته است. |
20 Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
| از آنچه با حرص و طمع به چنگ آورده است هرگز ارضا نخواهد شد، |
21 There shall none of his food be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
| و از آنچه با دزدی اندوخته است لذت نخواهد برد و کامیابی او دوام نخواهد داشت. |
22 In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
| وقتی به اوج کامیابی برسد بدبختی دامنگیر او خواهد شد. |
23 [When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.
| هنگامی که او می‌خورد و شکم خود را پر می‌کند، خدا خشم خود را بر او نازل خواهد کرد. |
24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.
| در حالی که می‌کوشد از شمشیر آهنین فرار کند، تیری از کمانی مفرغین رها شده، در بدن او فرو خواهد رفت. |
25 It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yes, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.
| هنگامی که تیر را از بدنش بیرون می‌کشد نوک براق آن جگرش را پاره خواهد کرد و وحشت مرگ بر او چیره خواهد شد. |
26 All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
| دارایی او نابود خواهد شد و آتشی ناگهانی به اموالش خواهد افتاد و آنچه را که برایش باقی مانده است خواهد بلعید. |
27 The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
| آسمانها گناهان او را آشکار خواهند ساخت و زمین علیه او شهادت خواهد داد. |
28 The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
| مال و ثروتش در اثر خشم خدا نابود خواهد گردید. |
29 This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.
| این است سرنوشتی که خدای قادر مطلق برای بدکاران تعیین کرده است. |
