Job 20

1 Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

পরে নামাথীয় সোফর উত্তর দিলেন:

2 Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for [this] I make haste.

“আমার বিক্ষুব্ধ চিন্তাভাবনা আমাকে উত্তর দিতে উত্তেজিত করছে যেহেতু আমি খুবই দুশ্চিন্তাগ্রস্ত হয়েছি।

3 I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

আমি এমন তিরস্কার শুনেছি যা আমাকে অসম্মানিত করেছে, ও আমার বুদ্ধি-বিবেচনা আমাকে উত্তর দিতে অনুপ্রাণিত করছে।

4 Knowest thou [not] this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

“তুমি নিশ্চয় জানো যে প্রাচীনকাল থেকে, পৃথিবীতে যখন মানবজাতিকে স্থাপন করা হয়েছিল তখন থেকেই কীভাবে,

5 That the triumphing of the wicked [is] short, and the joy of the hypocrite [but] for a moment?

দুষ্টদের হাসিখুশি ভাব ক্ষণস্থায়ী হয়ে আসছে, অধার্মিকদের আনন্দ শুধু এক মুহূর্তের জন্য স্থায়ী হয়ে আসছে।

6 Though his excellence shall mount up to the heavens, and his head reach to the clouds;

অধার্মিকের গর্ব যদিও আকাশমণ্ডল পর্যন্ত পৌঁছায় ও তার মাথা মেঘ স্পর্শ করে,

7 [Yet] he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they who have seen him shall say, Where [is] he?

তাও সে তার নিজের মলের মতো চিরতরে বিনষ্ট হবে; যারা তাকে চিনত, তারা বলবে, ‘সে কোথায় গেল?’

8 He shall fly away as a dream, and will not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

স্বপ্নের মতো সে অদৃশ্য হয়ে যাবে, আর কখনও তাকে খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে না, রাতের দর্শনের মতো তাকে সরিয়ে দেওয়া হবে।

9 The eye also [which] saw him shall [see him] no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

যে চোখ তাকে দেখেছিল তা আর তাকে দেখতে পাবে না; তার বাসস্থানও আর তার দিকে তাকাবে না।

10 His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.

তার সন্তানেরা দরিদ্রদের ক্ষতিপূরণ করবে; তার নিজের হাতই তার সম্পত্তি ফিরিয়ে দেবে।

11 His bones are full [of the sin] of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

তারুণ্যে ভরপুর যে প্রাণশক্তিতে তার অস্থি পরিপূর্ণ ছিল তা তারই সাথে ধুলোয় মিশে যাবে।

12 Though wickedness may be sweet in his mouth, [though] he may hide it under his tongue;

“দুষ্টতা যদিও তার মুখে মিষ্টি লাগে ও তা সে তার জিভের নিচে লুকিয়ে রাখে,

13 [Though] he may spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:

সে যদিও তা বাইরে বেরিয়ে যেতে দিতে চায় না ও তার মুখেই তা দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে রেখে দেয়,

14 [Yet] his food in his bowels is turned, [it is] the gall of asps within him.

তবুও তার খাদ্যদ্রব্য তার পেটে গিয়ে টকে যাবে; তার দেহের মধ্যে তা সাপের বিষে পরিণত হবে।

15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

সে যে ঐশ্বর্য কবলিত করেছিল তা সে থু থু করে ফেলবে; ঈশ্বর তার পেট থেকে সেসব বমি করিয়ে বের করবেন।

16 He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

সে সাপের বিষ চুষবে; বিষধর সাপের বিষদাঁত তাকে হত্যা করবে।

17 He shall not see the river, the floods, the brooks of honey and buttermilk.

সে জলপ্রবাহ উপভোগ করবে না, মধু ও ননী-প্রবাহিত নদীও উপভোগ করবে না।

18 That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow [it]: according to [his] substance [shall] the restitution [be], and he shall not rejoice [in it].

তার পরিশ্রমের ফল তাকে না খেয়ে ফিরিয়ে দিতে হবে; তার বেচাকেনার লাভ সে ভোগ করবে না।

19 Because he hath oppressed [and] hath forsaken the poor; [because] he hath violently taken away a house which he did not build.

যেহেতু সে দরিদ্রদের উপর অত্যাচার করে তাদের নিঃস্ব করে ছেড়েছে; সে সেই বাড়িগুলি দখল করেছে যেগুলি সে নির্মাণ করেনি।

20 Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.

“সে নিশ্চয় তার তীব্র আকাঙ্ক্ষার হাত থেকে রেহাই পাবে না; সে তার ধন দিয়ে নিজেকে বাঁচাতে পারবে না।

21 There shall none of his food be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.

গ্রাস করার জন্য তার কাছে আর কিছু অবশিষ্ট নেই; তার সমৃদ্ধি স্থায়ী হবে না।

22 In the fullness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.

তার প্রাচুর্যের মধ্যেই, চরম দুর্দশা তাকে ধরে ফেলবে; দুর্বিপাক সবলে তার উপরে এসে পড়বে।

23 [When] he is about to fill his belly, [God] shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain [it] upon him while he is eating.

তার পেট ভরে যাওয়ার পর, ঈশ্বর তাঁর জ্বলন্ত ক্রোধ তার উপর ঢেলে দেবেন ও তার উপর তাঁর আঘাত বর্ষণ করবেন।

24 He shall flee from the iron weapon, [and] the bow of steel shall strike him through.

যদিও সে লৌহাস্ত্র থেকে পালাবে, ব্রোঞ্জের ফলাযুক্ত তির তাকে বিদ্ধ করবে।

25 It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yes, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors [are] upon him.

সে তার পিঠ থেকে সেটি টেনে বের করবে, তার যকৃৎ থেকে সেই চক্‌মকে ফলাটি বের করবে। আতঙ্ক তার উপরে নেমে আসবে;

26 All darkness [shall be] hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.

তার ধনসম্পদের জন্য সর্বাত্মক অন্ধকার অপেক্ষা করে আছে। দাবানল তাকে গ্রাস করবে ও তার তাঁবুর অবশিষ্ট সবকিছু গিলে খাবে।

27 The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

আকাশমণ্ডল তার দোষ প্রকাশ করে দেবে; পৃথিবী তার বিরুদ্ধে উঠে দাঁড়াবে।

28 The increase of his house shall depart, [and his goods] shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

বন্যা এসে তার বাড়িঘর ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে যাবে, ঈশ্বরের ক্রোধের দিনে বেগে ধাবমান জলস্রোত নেমে আসবে।

29 This [is] the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed to him by God.

দুষ্ট লোকেদের এই হল ঈশ্বর-নিরূপিত পরিণতি, ঈশ্বর দ্বারা এই উত্তরাধিকারই তাদের জন্য নিরূপিত হয়ে আছে।”
