Job 14
1 Man [that is] born of a woman [is] of few days, and full of trouble.
Omul născut din femeie are zile puține și este plin de tulburare.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Răsare asemenea unei flori și este retezat; el fuge de asemenea ca o umbră și nu rămâne.
3 And dost thou open thy eyes upon such one, and bring me into judgment with thee?
Și îți deschizi ochii asupra unuia ca acesta și mă aduci în judecată cu tine?
4 Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? not one.
Cine poate aduce un lucru curat dintr-unul necurat? Niciunul.
5 Seeing his days [are] determined, the number of his months [is] with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Văzând că zilele îi sunt hotărâte, numărul lunilor sale sunt cu tine; tu i-ai rânduit hotarele lui ca el să nu le poată trece;
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.
Întoarce-te de la el, ca să se odihnească, până ce va împlini, ca un angajat, ziua sa.
7 For there is hope of a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender branch will not cease.
Căci este speranță pentru un pom, dacă este tăiat, că va răsări din nou și că ramura lui tânără nu va înceta.
8 Though its root shall become old in the earth, and its stock die in the ground;
Deși rădăcina lui îmbătrânește în pământ și trunchiul lui moare în pământ,
9 [Yet] through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
Totuși prin mirosul apei, el va înmuguri și va da lăstari ca o plantă.
10 But man dieth, and wasteth away: yes, man yieldeth his breath, and where [is] he?
Dar omul moare și se risipește; și omul își dă duhul și unde este el?
11 [As] the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:
Precum apele dispar din mare și potopul seacă și se usucă,
12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [shall be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
Astfel omul se culcă și nu se ridică, până când cerurile nu vor mai fi, ei nu se vor trezi, nici nu vor fi sculați din somnul lor.
13 O that thou wouldst hide me in the grave, that thou wouldst keep me secret, until thy wrath is past, that thou wouldst appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)
O, de m-ai ascunde în mormânt, de m-ai ține în taină, până îți va trece furia; de mi-ai rândui un timp cuvenit și să îți amintești de mine! (Sheol h7585)
14 If a man dieth, shall he live [again]? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change shall come.
Dacă un om moare, va trăi el din nou? Voi aștepta toate zilele timpului meu rânduit, până când vine schimbarea mea.
15 Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thy hands.
Tu vei chema și îți voi răspunde; vei avea dorință pentru lucrarea mâinilor tale.
16 For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?
Căci acum îmi numeri pașii; nu veghezi tu asupra păcatului meu?
17 My transgression [is] sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up my iniquity.
Fărădelegea mea este sigilată într-un sac și îmi coși nelegiuirea.
18 And surely the mountain falling cometh to naught, and the rock is removed out of its place.
Și, cu siguranță, muntele căzând ajunge de nimic și stânca este mutată din locul ei.
19 The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow [out] of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.
Apele tocesc pietrele; tu speli din țărâna pământului lucrurile care cresc și distrugi speranța omului.
20 Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.
Îl învingi pentru totdeauna și el trece; îi schimbi înfățișarea și îl trimiți departe.
21 His sons come to honor, and he knoweth [it] not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth [it] not of them.
Fiii lui ajung la onoare și el nu știe; sunt înjosiți, dar el nu pricepe aceasta.
22 But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
Dar carnea lui pe el va avea durere și sufletul său în el va jeli.
