Job 12
1 And Job answered and said,
E GIOBBE rispose, e disse:
2 No doubt but ye [are] the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
Sì, veramente voi [siete tutt]'un popolo, E la sapienza morrà con voi.
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I [am] not inferior to you: yes, who knoweth not such things as these?
Anch'io ho senno come voi; Io non sono da men di voi; Ed appo cui non [sono] cotali cose?
4 I am [as] one mocked by his neighbor, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright [man is] derided.
Io son quell'uomo ch'è schernito dal suo amico; [Ma un tale] invoca Iddio, ed egli gli risponderà; L'uomo giusto ed intiero è schernito.
5 He that is ready to slip with [his] feet [is as] a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
Colui che sta per isdrucciolare col piè, [E], per estimazione di chi è felice, un tizzone sprezzato.
6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth [abundantly].
I tabernacoli de' ladroni prosperano, E [v'è] ogni sicurtà per quelli che dispettano Iddio, Nelle cui mani egli fa cadere [ciò che desiderano].
7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
E in vero, domandane pur le bestie, ed esse tu [l]'insegneranno; E gli uccelli del cielo, ed essi te [lo] dichiareranno;
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare to thee.
Ovvero, ragiona[ne] con la terra, ed essa te [l]'insegnerà; I pesci del mare eziandio te [lo] racconteranno.
9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
Fra tutte queste [creature], Quale [è quella che] non sappia che la mano del Signore fa questo?
10 In whose hand [is] the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
Nella cui mano [è] l'anima d'ogni [uomo] vivente, E lo spirito d'ogni carne umana.
11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste its food?
L'orecchio non prova egli le parole, Come il palato assapora le vivande?
12 With the ancient [is] wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
Ne' vecchi [è] la sapienza, E nella grande età [è] la prudenza.
13 With him [is] wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
Appo lui [è] la sapienza e la forza; A lui [appartiene] il consiglio e l'intelligenza.
14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
Ecco, [se] egli ruina, [la cosa] non può esser riedificata; [Se] serra alcuno, non gli può essere aperto.
15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
Ecco, [se] egli rattiene le acque, elle si seccano; E [se] le lascia scorrere, rivoltano la terra sottosopra.
16 With him [is] strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver [are] his.
Appo lui [è] forza e ragione; A lui [appartiene] chi erra, e chi fa errare.
17 He leadeth counselors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
Egli ne mena i consiglieri spogliati, E fa impazzare i giudici.
18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
Egli scioglie il legame dei re, E stringe la cinghia sopra i lor [propri] lombi.
19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
Egli ne mena i rettori spogliati, E sovverte i possenti.
20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
Egli toglie la favella agli eloquenti, E leva il senno a' vecchi.
21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
Egli spande lo sprezzo sopra i nobili, E rallenta la cintura de' possenti.
22 He revealeth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth to light the shades of death.
Egli rivela le cose profonde, [traendole] fuor delle tenebre; E mette fuori alla luce l'ombra della morte.
23 He increaseth nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth nations, and straiteneth them [again].
Egli accresce le nazioni, ed [altesì] le distrugge; Egli sparge le genti, ed [altresì] le riduce insieme.
24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness [where there is] no way.
Egli toglie il senno a' capi de' popoli della terra, E li fa andar vagando per luoghi deserti, [ove] non [ha] via alcuna.
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like [a] drunken [man].
Vanno a tentone per le tenebre, senza luce alcuna: Ed egli li fa andare errando come un uomo ebbro.
