Jeremiah 9
1 Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
Oh, que minha cabeça eram águas, e meus olhos uma fonte de lágrimas, que eu possa chorar dia e noite para a morte da filha do meu povo!
2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging-place of way-faring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they [are] all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
Oh que eu tinha no deserto um local de hospedagem para homens de passagem, que eu poderia deixar meu povo e vá embora deles! Pois todos eles são adúlteros, uma assembléia de homens traiçoeiros.
3 And they bend their tongues [like] their bow [for] lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.
“Eles dobram a língua, como seu arco, por falsidade. Eles se tornaram fortes na terra, mas não para a verdade; pois eles procedem do mal para o mal, e eles não me conhecem”, diz Yahweh.
4 Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.
“Todos têm cuidado com seu vizinho, e não confie em nenhum irmão; para cada irmão, substituirá totalmente, e todo vizinho andará por aí como um caluniador.
5 And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, [and] weary themselves to commit iniquity.
Os amigos se enganam uns aos outros, e não vai falar a verdade. Eles ensinaram sua língua a falar mentiras. Eles se cansam cometendo iniqüidade.
6 Thy habitation [is] in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.
Sua moradia está no meio do engano. Através do engano, eles se recusam a me conhecer”, diz Yahweh.
7 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?
Therefore diz Yahweh dos Exércitos, “Eis que os derreterei e os testarei”; como devo lidar com a filha do meu povo?
8 Their tongue [is as] an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: [one] speaketh peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.
A língua deles é uma flecha mortal. Fala engano. Fala-se pacificamente com a boca ao próximo, mas em seu coração, ele espera para emboscá-lo.
9 Shall I not visit them for these [things]? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Shouldn não os castigo por estas coisas?” diz Yahweh. “Minha alma não deveria ser vingada em uma nação como esta?
10 For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through [them]; neither can [men] hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast have fled; they are gone.
Vou chorar e lamentar pelas montanhas, e lamento pelos pastos do deserto, porque estão queimados, de modo que ninguém passa por eles; Os homens não conseguem ouvir a voz do gado. Tanto as aves do céu quanto os animais fugiram. Eles se foram.
11 And I will make Jerusalem heaps, [and] a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.
“Vou fazer montões de Jerusalém, uma morada de chacais. Vou fazer das cidades de Judá uma desolação, sem habitante”.
12 Who [is] the wise man that may understand this? and [who is he] to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth [and] is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
Quem é sábio o suficiente para entender isto? Quem é aquele a quem a boca de Iavé falou, para que ele possa declará-lo? Por que a terra pereceu e ardeu como um deserto, para que ninguém passe por ela?
13 And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
Yahweh diz: “Porque abandonaram minha lei que lhes apresentei, e não obedeceram a minha voz nem andaram nos meus caminhos,
14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:
mas andaram depois da teimosia de seu próprio coração e depois dos Baals, que seus pais lhes ensinaram”.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, [even] this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
Portanto Yahweh dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, diz: “Eis que os alimentarei, mesmo este povo, com absinto e lhes darei água envenenada para beber”.
16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.
Espalhá-los-ei também entre as nações, que nem eles nem seus pais conheceram. Mandarei a espada atrás deles, até que eu os tenha consumido”.
17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for skillful [women], that they may come:
Yahweh dos exércitos diz, “Considerem e chamem as mulheres de luto, para que elas possam vir”. Mande chamar as mulheres hábeis, para que elas possam vir.
18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
Let eles apressam e tomar uma lamentação por nós, que nossos olhos possam correr com lágrimas e nossas pálpebras jorram de água.
19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we laid waste! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast [us] out.
Pois uma voz de lamentação é ouvida de Zion, “Como estamos arruinados! Estamos muito confusos porque abandonamos a terra, porque eles derrubaram nossas casas”.
20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbor lamentation.
Mas ouçam a palavra de Javé, vocês mulheres. Deixe seu ouvido receber a palavra de sua boca. Ensine suas filhas a lamentar. Todos ensinam uma lamentação ao seu vizinho.
21 For death hath come up into our windows, [and] hath entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, [and] the young men from the streets.
Pois a morte veio à nossa janela. Entrou em nossos palácios para cortar as crianças de fora, e os jovens das ruas.
22 Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcasses of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvest-man, and none shall gather [them].
Fale: “Yahweh diz, “'Os cadáveres dos homens cairão como esterco em campo aberto, e como a mão-cheia após a colhedora. Ninguém os reunirá'”.
23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches:
Diz Yahweh, “Não deixe que o homem sábio se glorie em sua sabedoria. Não deixe que o poderoso homem se glorie em seu poder. Não deixe que o homem rico se glorie em suas riquezas.
24 But let him that glorieth, glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I [am] the LORD who exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these [things] I delight, saith the LORD.
Mas que seja aquele que se gloria nisso, que ele tem compreensão, e me conhece, que eu sou Yahweh que exerce amorosa bondade, justiça e retidão na terra, pois me deleito com estas coisas”, diz Yahweh.
25 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all [them who are] circumcised with the uncircumcised;
“Eis que os dias vêm”, diz Javé, “que castigarei todos aqueles que são circuncidados apenas em sua carne:
26 Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all [that are] in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all [these] nations [are] uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel [are] uncircumcised in the heart.
Egypt, Judah, Edom, os filhos de Amon, Moabe e todos os que têm os cantos dos cabelos cortados, que habitam no deserto, pois todas as nações são incircuncisadas, e toda a casa de Israel é incircuncisada no coração”.
