< Jeremiah 8 >

1 At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:

2 And they shall spread them before the sun, and the moon, and all the host of heaven, whom they have loved, and whom they have served, and after whom they have walked, and whom they have sought, and whom they have worshiped: they shall not be gathered, nor be buried; they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth.
Ahnimanaw ni lungpataw teh thaw tawk pouh awh, a hnukkâbang pouh awh, a pacei awh teh a bawk awh e kanî hoi thapa hoi kalvan e âsinaw pueng hmalah a dan awh han.
3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, who remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
Kai ni ka pâlei e hmuen pueng koevah, hete tamikathout miphunnaw ni hringnae hlak duenae arawihnawn awh telah ransahu BAWIPA ni ati.
4 Moreover, thou shalt say to them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
BAWIPA ni hettelah a dei tie hah ahnimouh koe dei pouh, taminaw tâlaw awh navah bout thaw awh hoeh maw, lam a payon awh navah bout ban awh mahoeh maw.
5 Why [then] hath this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
Telah pawiteh, bangkongmaw hete taminaw ni hnuklah a kamlang awh, Bangkongmaw Jerusalem kho taminaw ni hnuklah meng a kamlang awh. Dumnae dawk a lungpen awh teh ban han ngai awh hoeh.
6 I hearkened and heard, [but] they spoke not aright: no man repented of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth to the battle.

7 Yes, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
Lathueng kamleng tavanaw ni patenghai a tue hah a panue awh teh, batuiling, bakhunaw, pingpitnaw, hoi tuicawmpainaw ni hai tho nahane a tue teh a panue awh. Hatei, ka taminaw ni teh BAWIPA e a kawnae hah panuek awh hoeh.
8 How do ye say, We [are] wise, and the law of the LORD [is] with us? Lo, certainly in vain he hath made [it]; the pen of the scribes [is] in vain.
Bangtelamaw, kaimouh teh ka lungang awh, BAWIPA e kâlawk kaimouh koe ao na ti thai awh vaw. cakathutkungnaw e cacung ni laithoe a tawm sak awh toe hei.
9 The wise [men] are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom [is] in them?
A lungkaangnaw yeirai a phu awh han. Puen awh vaiteh, man lah ao han. BAWIPA e lawk a pahnawt awh toe, bangpatet lungangnae maw a tawn awh.
10 Therefore will I give their wives to others, [and] their fields to them that shall inherit [them]: for every one from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even to the priest every one dealeth falsely.

11 For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when [there is] no peace.
Ka taminaw, ka canunaw e hmâ hah phouhoucalah a khet awh. Lungmawngnae kaawm hoeh e hah, lungmawngnae lungmawngnae atipouh awh.
12 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

13 I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: [there shall be] no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig-tree, and the leaf shall fade; and [the things that] I have given to them shall pass away from them.

14 Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fortified cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.

15 We looked for peace, but no good [came]; [and] for a time of health, and behold, trouble!
Lungmawngnae ngaihawi awh ei, ahawinae tho hoeh toe, tak damnae ngaihawi awh ei, runae seng doeh kaawm toe.
16 The snorting of his horses was heard from Dan: the whole land trembled at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones; for they have come, and have devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
Tarannaw e marangnaw kâha lawk teh, Dan hoi a thai awh toe. Marangtannaw e a cai lawk ni ram thung pueng pâyaw sak awh toe. Ram hoi a thung e kaawm hnopueng hoi khopui hoi khopui thung kaawm taminaw pueng pâyaw hanlah a tho awh toe.
17 For behold, I will send serpents, cockatrices, among you, which [will] not [be] charmed, and they shall bite you, saith the LORD.
Khenhaw! nangmouh koe, hrunthok, hrunthoe ka tha vaiteh, bangtelah hai ti thai lah kaawm hoeh e ni nangmouh teh koung na khue awh han, telah BAWIPA ni ati.
18 [When] I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart [is] faint in me.
Oe ka lungmathoenae heh api nang ne karoum sak han. Ka thung vah ka lung sut a pout.
19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a distant country: [Is] not the LORD in Zion? [is] not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, [and] with strange vanities?
Ram hlanae koe kaawm ka canu ka taminaw e a khuika lawk hah thai haw. Zion vah BAWIPA awm hoeh maw. Siangpahrang hai haw vah awm hoeh toung maw. Bangkong hetnaw ni sakhlawn e meikaphawknaw hoi miphunnaw e meikaphawknaw ni bangkongmaw ka lungkhuek sak awh.
20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
Canga tue a loum toe, kompawi tue a khup toe, maimouh teh rungngang lah awm awh hoeh rah.
21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.
Ka taminaw hoi ka canaw, patawnae hah ka hmawngkhai. Ka lungmathoe teh kângairunae ni khik na katek.
22 [Is there] no balm in Gilead: [is there] no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered.
Gilead vah hluk hane thingtapi awm hoeh maw. Haw vah tâsibawi awm hoeh maw. Bangkong ka taminaw ka canaw e a hmâ ahawi thai hoeh.
