< Jeremiah 36 >
1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, [that] this word came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Le Yuda fia, Yehoyakim, Yosia ƒe vi ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe enelia me la, Yehowa ƒe nya sia va na Yeremia be,
2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write in it all the words that I have spoken to thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to thee, from the days of Josiah, even to this day.
“Tsɔ lãgbalẽ nàŋlɔ nu siwo katã megblɔ na wò tso Israel, Yuda kple dukɔ bubuwo ŋuti la ɖe edzi. Ŋlɔe tso gbe si gbe medze nuƒoƒo kpli wò le Yosia ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ɣeyiɣiwo me dzi va se ɖe fifia.
3 It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.
Ɖewohĩ ne Yudatɔwo ase gbegblẽ siwo katã meɖo be mahe va wo dzii la, wo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe atrɔ tso eƒe mɔ vɔ̃ dzi; ekema matsɔ woƒe nu vɔ̃ɖi wɔwɔwo kple nu vɔ̃ ake wo.”
4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken to him, upon a roll of a book.
5 And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I [am] confined, I cannot go into the house of the LORD:
Yeremia gblɔ na Baruk be, “Mele ga me eya ta nyemate ŋu ayi ɖe Yehowa ƒe gbedoxɔ me o.
6 Therefore go thou and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD'S house upon the day of fasting: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
Eya ta wò, yi ɖe Yehowa ƒe gbedoxɔ me le nutsitsidɔ ŋkeke aɖe dzi eye nàxlẽ Yehowa ƒe nya siwo megblɔ na wò nèŋlɔ la na wo. Xlẽe na Yudatɔ siwo katã tso woƒe du vovovowo me va.
7 It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great [is] the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.
Ɖewohĩ woabɔbɔ wo ɖokui kple kokoƒoƒo le Yehowa ŋkume eye woatrɔ tso woƒe mɔ vɔ̃wo dzi elabena dziku kple dɔmedzoe helĩhelĩ si Yehowa gblɔ ɖi tso ame siawo ŋuti la lolo ŋutɔ.”
8 And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.
Neria ƒe vi, Baruk wɔ nu siwo katã Nyagblɔɖila Yeremia gblɔ nɛ be wòawɔ.
9 And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, [that] they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem.
Le Yuda fia, Yehoyakim, Yosia ƒe vi, ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe atɔ̃lia ƒe ɣleti asiekɛlia me la, woɖe gbeƒã nutsitsidɔ le Yehowa ŋkume na Yerusalemtɔwo kple ame siwo katã tso Yuda ƒe duwo me va.
10 Then Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house, in the ears of all the people.
11 When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
12 Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and lo, all the princes sat there, [even] Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
eɖiɖi yi ɖe agbalẽŋlɔla ƒe xɔ si le fiasã me la me, afi si dumegãwo ƒo ta kpli ɖe aɖaŋu me le. Woawoe nye: nuŋlɔla, Elisama, Delaya; Semaya ƒe vi, Elnatan, Akbor ƒe vi; Gemaria, Safan ƒe vi; Zedekia, Hananiya ƒe vi kple dumegã bubuwo katã.
13 Then Michaiah declared to them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, to Baruch, saying, Take in thy hand the roll in which thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came to them.
dumegãwo katã dɔ Yehudi, Netania ƒe vi, Selemia ƒe vi, Kusi ƒe vi ɖo ɖe Baruk be woagblɔ nɛ be, “Tsɔ lãgbalẽ si me nèxlẽ nu le na dukɔ la, ne nàva.” Tete Neria ƒe vi, Baruk, yi wo gbɔ kple lãgbalẽ la.
15 And they said to him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read [it] in their ears.
Wogblɔ nɛ be, “Míeɖe kuku nɔ anyi, ne nàxlẽe na mí.” Tete Baruk xlẽe na wo.
16 Now it came to pass when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and another, and said to Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.
Esi wose nya siawo katã la, vɔvɔ̃ ɖo wo eye wode asi wo nɔewo ƒe ŋkume kpɔkpɔ me kple vɔvɔ̃ eye wogblɔ na Baruk be, “Ele be nàka nya siawo ta na fia la.”
17 And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?
Tete wobia Baruk be, “Gblɔe na mi, aleke nèwɔ ŋlɔ nu siawo? Yeremiae gblɔ wo na wòa?”
18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words to me with his mouth, and I wrote [them] with ink in the book.
Baruk ɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, eyae gblɔ nya siawo katã nam eye metsɔ nuŋlɔtsi ŋlɔe ɖe lãgbalẽ la dzi.”
19 Then said the princes to Baruch, Go, hide thyself, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye are.
Dumegãwo gblɔ na Baruk be, “Wò kple Yeremia, miyi miaɣla mia ɖokui. Migana ame aɖeke nanya afi si miele o.”
20 And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
Esi wotsɔ lãgbalẽ la da ɖe agbalẽŋlɔla Elisama ƒe xɔ me vɔ la, woyi ɖe fia la gbɔ le xɔxɔnu eye wogblɔ nya ɖe sia ɖe nɛ.
21 So the king sent Jehudi to bring the roll: and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama, the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes who stood beside the king.
22 Now the king sat in the winter-house in the ninth month: and [there was a fire] on the hearth burning before him.
Enye ɣleti asiekɛlia eye fia la nɔ anyi ɖe eƒe vuvɔŋɔlixɔ me eye wodo dzo ɖe ze me da ɖe eƒe akɔme.
23 And it came to pass, [that] when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the scribe's pen-knife, and cast [it] into the fire that [was] on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that [was] on the hearth.
Ne Yehudi xlẽ lãgbalẽ la fli etɔ̃ alo ene ko la, fia la tsɔa agbalẽŋlɔlawo ƒe hɛ lãnɛ ɖa hetsɔna ƒua gbe ɖe dzo si le ekɔme la me. Ewɔe alea va se ɖe esime wòtsɔ lãgbalẽ la katã de dzo me.
24 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, [neither] the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
Fia la kple eŋutime siwo katã se agbalẽ la me nyawo la meɖe vɔvɔ̃ aɖeke fia alo dze awu le wo ɖokuiwo ŋuti o.
25 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.
Togbɔ be Elnatan, Delaya kple Gemaria ƒoe ɖe fia la nu be megade lãgbalẽ la dzo me o hã la, edo toku wo.
26 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.
27 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim king of Judah hath burned.
“Tsɔ lãgbalẽ bubu, eye nàŋlɔ nya siwo katã nɔ gbãtɔ dzi la ɖe edzi, nya siwo ke Yuda fia Yehoyakim tɔ dzoe.
29 And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
Gawu la, gblɔ na Yuda fia Yehoyakim be, ‘Ale Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: Ètɔ dzo lãgbalẽ ma, hegblɔ be, “Nu ka ta nèŋlɔ ɖe edzi be Babilonia fia ava kokoko agblẽ anyigba sia eye wòatsrɔ̃ amegbetɔwo kple lãwo siaa ɖa le edzi?”
30 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
Eya ta ale Yehowa gblɔ ɖe Yuda fia Yehoyakim ŋutie nye si: Ame aɖeke masusɔ nɛ, si anɔ David ƒe fiazikpui dzi o, woatsɔ eƒe ŋutilã kukua aƒu gbe ɖe gota, eye ŋdɔkutsu aɖui le ŋkeke me eye ahũ aƒoe le zã me.
31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

32 Then Jeremiah took another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were besides added to them many like words.
