< Jeremiah 14 >
1 The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth.
Esiae nye Yehowa ƒe nya na Yeremia tso kuɖiɖi ŋuti.
2 Judah mourneth, and her gates languish; they are black to the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
“Yuda le nu xam, eƒe duwo le fukpekpe me, wole avi fam le anyigba la ta eye Yerusalem ƒe ɣli le dzi dem.
3 And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: they came to the pits, [and] found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads.
Bubumewo dɔa woƒe dɔlawo ɖe tsikuƒe; woyina ɖe vudowo to, gake womekpɔa tsi le wo me o. Wotrɔna gbɔna kple ze ƒuƒluwo, ŋu kpea wo, wobua mɔkpɔkpɔ eye wotsɔa nu tsyɔa ta.
4 Because the ground is chapt, for there was no rain on the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
Anyigba la katã wo gblogblogblo, elabena tsi mele dzadzam ɖe edzi o; agbledelawo ƒe mo tsi dãa, eye wotsyɔ nu ta.
5 Yes, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook [it], because there was no grass.
Fɔmizi le gbe me gɔ̃ hã gblẽa via ɖi elabena gbe mumu meli o.
6 And the wild asses stood in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes failed, because [there was] no grass.
Gbetedziwo tsia tsitre ɖe to ƒuƒluwo dzi henɔa ya nom abe amegaxiwo ene. Woƒe ŋkuwo dzi tsyɔna elabena gbeɖuƒe aɖeke megali o.”
7 O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou [it] for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
O Yehowa, togbɔ be míaƒe nu vɔ̃wo le ɖase ɖim tso mía ŋuti hã la, wɔ nane le wò ŋkɔ la ta, elabena míaƒe megbedede sɔ gbɔ, eye míewɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋutiwò.
8 O the hope of Israel, his Savior in time of trouble, why shouldst thou be as a stranger in the land, and as a way-faring man [that] turneth aside to tarry for a night?
O Israel ƒe Mɔkpɔkpɔ, eƒe Ɖela le xaxawo me; nu ka ta nèle abe amedzro ene le anyigba dzi, eye abe mɔzɔla si va anyi tsi ge ŋkeke ɖeka ko ene?
9 Why shouldst thou be as a man astonished, as a mighty man [that] cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, [art] in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Aleke nèle abe ame si nane wɔ nuku na alo kalẽtɔ si ƒe ŋusẽ vɔ, eye mate ŋu axɔ na ame o la ene? O Yehowa, èle mía dome, eye wò ŋkɔ le mía ŋu eya ta mègagblẽ mi ɖi o!
10 Thus saith the LORD to this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not restrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins.
Ale Yehowa gblɔ tso dukɔ sia ŋutie nye esi: “Wolɔ̃a tsaglalãtsatsa vivivo; woƒe afɔwo menɔa teƒe ɖeka o, eya ta Yehowa mexɔ wo o. Azɔ la, àɖo ŋku woƒe nu tovowo wɔwɔ dzi, eye woahe to na wo le woƒe nu vɔ̃wo ta.”
11 Then said the LORD to me, Pray not for this people for [their] good.
Tete Yehowa gblɔ nam be, “Mègado gbe ɖa be eme nanyo na dukɔ sia o.
12 When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt-offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence.
Nenye be wotsi nu dɔ hã la, nyemaɖo to woƒe ɣlidodo o. Nenye be wotsɔ numevɔsa kple nuɖuvɔsawo vɛ hã la, nyemaxɔ wo o, ke boŋ matsrɔ̃ wo kple yi, dɔwuame kple dɔvɔ̃.”
13 Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, the prophets say to them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
Ke megblɔ be, “O Aƒetɔ Yehowa, Nyagblɔɖilawo le gbɔgblɔm na wo be, ‘Miakpɔ yi loo alo dɔwuame o. Le nyateƒe me, mana miakpɔ ŋutifafa mavɔ le teƒe sia.’”
14 Then the LORD said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I have not sent them, neither have I commanded them, neither spoken to them: they prophesy to you a false vision and divination, and a thing of naught, and the deceit of their heart.
Yehowa gblɔ nam be, “Nyagblɔɖilawo le aʋatsonyawo gblɔm le nye ŋkɔ me. Nyemedɔ wo alo ɖo wo alo ƒo nu na wo o. Wole alakpaŋutega, afakaka, trɔ̃subɔsubɔ kple beble siwo woƒe susuwo gblɔ na wo la gblɔm.
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that prophesy in my name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
Eya ta ale Yehowa gblɔ le nyagblɔɖila siwo le nya gblɔm ɖi le nye ŋkɔ me la ŋu. Nyemedɔ wo o, gake wole gbɔgblɔm be, ‘Yi alo dɔwuame atsrɔ̃ wo
16 And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the famine, and the sword; and they shall have none to bury them, them, their wives, nor their sons, nor their daughters: for I will pour their wickedness upon them.
eye ame siwo wole nya gblɔm ɖi na la, woatsɔ wo akaka ɖe Yerusalem ƒe ablɔwo dzi le yi kple dɔwuame ta. Ame aɖeke manɔ anyi si aɖi woawo ŋutɔwo alo wo srɔ̃nyɔnuwo, wo viŋutsuwo kple wo vinyɔnuwo o. Matrɔ dzɔgbevɔ̃e si dze na wo la, akɔ ɖe wo dzi.’
17 Therefore thou shalt say this word to them; Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous blow.
“Gblɔ nya sia na wo be, “‘Na be aɖatsi nasi tso nye ŋkuwo me zã kple keli madzudzɔmadzudzɔe elabena vinyenyɔnu si menya ŋutsu o, ame si nye dukɔ la, xɔ abi vevie le esi wogbãe ta.
18 If I go forth into the field, then behold the slain with the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold them that are sick with famine! yes, both the prophet and the priest go about into a land that they know not.
19 Hast thou utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul loathed Zion? Why hast thou smitten us, and [there is] no healing for us? we looked for peace, and [there is] no good; and for the time of healing, and behold trouble!
“Ɖe nègbe Yuda gbidiia? Ɖe wò dzi megaku ɖe Zion ŋu oa? Nu ka ta nède abi mía ŋuti ale gbegbe be míate ŋu akpɔ dɔyɔyɔ o? Míekpɔ mɔ na ŋutifafa gake nu nyui aɖeke meva na mí o. Míekpɔ mɔ na dɔyɔyɔ, ke ŋɔdzi boŋue li.
20 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, [and] the iniquity of our fathers; for we have sinned against thee.
O Yehowa, míedze si míaƒe nu tovowo wɔwɔ kple mía fofowo ƒe nu vɔ̃wo. Vavãe míewɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋutiwò.
21 Do not abhor [us], for thy name's sake; do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
22 Are there [any] among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? [art] not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these [things].
Ɖe dukɔwo ƒe legba maɖinuwo dometɔ aɖe na tsi dza kpɔa? Lilikpowo ŋutɔe dzaa tsia? Ao, O Yehowa, míaƒe Mawu, wòe wɔnɛ. Eya ta míaƒe mɔkpɔkpɔ le dziwò, elabena wòe wɔa esiawo katã.”
