Jeremiah 11

1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

യഹോവയിൽനിന്ന് യിരെമ്യാവിനുണ്ടായ അരുളപ്പാട്:

2 Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;

“നീ ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ കേട്ട് യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളോടും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളോടും അത് അറിയിക്കുക.

3 And say thou to them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed [be] the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,

അവരോട് ഇപ്രകാരം പറയുക, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ അനുസരിക്കാത്ത മനുഷ്യൻ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ടവൻ.

4 Which I commanded your fathers in the day [that] I brought them forth from the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

ഇരുമ്പുചൂളയായ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാളിൽ ഇവയെ ഞാൻ അവരോടറിയിച്ചു. ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു കൽപ്പിക്കുന്ന പ്രകാരത്തിലെല്ലാം നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ വചനം കേട്ട് അനുസരിക്കുക; എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ജനവും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ദൈവവുമായിരിക്കും,’ എന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

5 That I may perform the oath which I have sworn to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as [it is] this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.

‘ഇന്നു നിങ്ങൾ അവകാശമാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്നതായ ദേശം അവർക്കു നൽകുമെന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ശപഥം നിറവേറ്റുന്നതിനുതന്നെ.’” അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ “ആമേൻ, യഹോവേ,” എന്ന് ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

6 Then the LORD said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.

അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “നീ ഈ വചനങ്ങളെല്ലാം യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളിലും ജെറുശലേമിന്റെ വീഥികളിലും വിളിച്ചുപറയുക, ‘ഈ ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾ നിങ്ങൾ കേട്ട് അനുസരിക്കുക.

7 For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day [that] I brought them out of the land of Egypt, [even] to this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.

നിങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെ ഈജിപ്റ്റുദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നാൾമുതൽ ഇന്നുവരെയും “എന്റെ വചനം അനുസരിക്കുക,” എന്ന് അവർക്ക് വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും മുന്നറിയിപ്പു നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

8 Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded [them] to do; but they did [them] not.

എന്നിട്ടും അവർ എന്നെ അനുസരിക്കുകയും എനിക്കു ചെവിതരികയും ചെയ്യാതെ ഓരോരുത്തനും തങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയത്തിലെ ആഗ്രഹമനുസരിച്ചു നടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ ഞാൻ അവരോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള ഉടമ്പടിയുടെ നിബന്ധനകൾപോലെ ഞാൻ അവരോടു ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ടും അവർ അവയെ പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല.’”

9 And the LORD said to me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

യഹോവ പിന്നെയും എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്: “യെഹൂദാജനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളുടെ മധ്യത്തിലും ഒരു ഗൂഢാലോചന ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നു.

10 They have turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, who refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

എന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ നിരസിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂർവികരുടെ പാപങ്ങളിലേക്ക് അവർ വീണ്ടും കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അന്യദേവതകളെ സേവിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവരുടെ അടുക്കലേക്ക് അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. യെഹൂദാഗൃഹവും ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹവും അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ ചെയ്തിരുന്ന ഉടമ്പടി ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

11 Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry to me, I will not hearken to them.

അതിനാൽ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘ഇതാ അവർക്കു രക്ഷപ്പെടാൻ കഴിയാത്ത ഒരു അനർഥം ഞാൻ അവർക്കു വരുത്തും; അവർ എന്നെ നോക്കി നിലവിളിച്ചാലും ഞാൻ അവരുടെ നിലവിളി കേൾക്കുകയില്ല.

12 Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry to the gods to which they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.

അപ്പോൾ യെഹൂദാനഗരങ്ങളും ജെറുശലേംനിവാസികളും അവർ ധൂപം കാട്ടുന്ന ദേവതകളുടെ അടുക്കൽപോയി അവരോടു നിലവിളിക്കും; എങ്കിലും അവരുടെ കഷ്ടതയിൽ ദേവതകൾ അവരെ രക്ഷിക്കുകയില്ല.

13 For [according to] the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and [according to] the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to [that] shameful thing, [even] altars to burn incense to Baal.

അല്ലയോ, യെഹൂദയേ, നിന്റെ പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തോളംതന്നെ നിനക്കു ദേവതകളുണ്ട്. ജെറുശലേമിലെ വീഥികളുടെ എണ്ണത്തോളം ബാൽ എന്ന മ്ലേച്ഛദേവനു ധൂപം കാട്ടാൻ ബലിപീഠങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.’

14 Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear [them] in the time when they cry to me for their trouble.

“അതിനാൽ നീ ജനത്തിനുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥിക്കരുത്; അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥനയുടെ ഒരു നിലവിളി ഉയർത്തരുത്. തങ്ങളുടെ അനർഥം നിമിത്തം അവർ എന്നോടു നിലവിളിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവരുടെ നിലവിളി ഞാൻ കേൾക്കുകയില്ല.

15 What hath my beloved to do in my house, [seeing] she hath wrought lewdness with many; and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

“പലരോടുംചേർന്ന് നിരവധി ദുഷ്കർമങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യുന്നവളായ എന്റെ കാന്തയ്ക്ക് എന്റെ ആലയത്തിൽ എന്തുകാര്യമാണുള്ളത്? വിശുദ്ധമാംസത്തിനു നിന്റെ ശിക്ഷ ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ? ദുഷ്ടതയിൽ വ്യാപൃതയാകുമ്പോൾ നീ സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു.”

16 The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, [and] of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.

ആകർഷകമായ ഫലങ്ങൾനിറഞ്ഞ സൗന്ദര്യത്തോടെ തഴച്ചുവളരുന്ന ഒലിവുവൃക്ഷം എന്ന് യഹോവ നിനക്കു പേരു വിളിച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ കൊടുംകാറ്റിന്റെ ഗർജനത്തോടെ അവിടന്ന് അതിനു തീവെക്കും അതിന്റെ ശാഖകൾ ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോകും.

17 For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense to Baal.

ഇസ്രായേൽഗൃഹവും യെഹൂദാഗൃഹവും ബാലിനു ധൂപംകാട്ടി ദുഷ്കർമം ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് എന്നിലെ ക്രോധമുണർത്തിയതിനാൽ നിന്നെ നട്ടവനായ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ നിനക്ക് അനർഥം വിധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

18 And the LORD hath given me knowledge [of it], and I know [it]: then thou showedst me their doings.

യഹോവ അവരുടെ ഗൂഢാലോചനയെക്കുറിച്ച് എനിക്ക് അറിവു തന്നു, അങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ അത് അറിഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ അവരുടെ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ അങ്ങ് എനിക്കു കാണിച്ചുതന്നു.

19 But I [was] like a lamb [or] an ox [that] is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, [saying], Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.

എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ കൊലയ്ക്കായി കൊണ്ടുവരപ്പെട്ട സൗമ്യതയുള്ള ഒരു കുഞ്ഞാടുപോലെ ആയിരുന്നു, “നമുക്കു വൃക്ഷത്തെ ഫലത്തോടുകൂടെ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയാം; അവന്റെ പേര് ഇനി ആരും ഓർക്കരുത്, ജീവനുള്ളവരുടെ ദേശത്തുനിന്ന് നമുക്കവനെ ഛേദിച്ചുകളയാം,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവർ എനിക്കെതിരേ ഗൂഢാലോചന നടത്തിയത് ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.

20 But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for to thee have I revealed my cause.

എന്നാൽ, നീതിയോടെ വിധിക്കുകയും ഹൃദയവിചാരങ്ങളെ അറിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവേ, അങ്ങ് അവരോടു ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രതികാരം ഞാൻ കാണട്ടെ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ വ്യവഹാരം അങ്ങയോടല്ലോ ബോധിപ്പിച്ചത്.

21 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:

അതിനാൽ “ഞങ്ങളുടെ കൈകളാൽ നീ മരിക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന് യഹോവയുടെ നാമത്തിൽ പ്രവചിക്കരുത്,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ജീവൻ അപഹരിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന അനാഥോത്തുജനതയെക്കുറിച്ച് യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു—

22 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

“ഞാൻ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കും. അവരുടെ യുവാക്കൾ വാളിനാൽ വീഴും, അവരുടെ പുത്രന്മാരും പുത്രിമാരും ക്ഷാമത്താൽ മരിക്കും.

23 And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, [even] the year of their visitation.

ഞാൻ അവരെ ശിക്ഷിക്കുന്ന വർഷത്തിൽ, അനാഥോത്തിലെ ജനങ്ങൾക്കു ഞാൻ വിനാശം വരുത്തുകയാൽ, അവരിൽ ആരുംതന്നെ ശേഷിക്കുകയില്ല,” എന്നു സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.
