James 5
1 Come now, [ye] rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon [you].
ധനികരേ, നിങ്ങൾക്കു വരാനിരിക്കുന്ന വിപത്തുകൾനിമിത്തം അലമുറയിട്ടുകരയുക.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
നിങ്ങളുടെ സമ്പത്ത് ജീർണിച്ചും വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ പുഴുവരിച്ചും പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have amassed treasure for the last days.
നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്വർണവും വെള്ളിയും ക്ലാവു പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ആ ക്ലാവ്, നിങ്ങൾക്കു വിരോധമായി സാക്ഷ്യം പറയുകയും തീപോലെ നിങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരത്തെ കാർന്നുതിന്നുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഈ അന്ത്യനാളുകളിൽപോലും നിങ്ങൾ സമ്പത്ത് സമാഹരിക്കുന്നു.
4 Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which is by you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
ഇതാ, നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലങ്ങൾ കൊയ്തവരുടെ കൂലി നിങ്ങൾ പിടിച്ചുവെച്ചതു നിങ്ങൾക്കെതിരേ നിലവിളിക്കുന്നു. കൊയ്ത്തുകാരുടെ നിലവിളി സർവശക്തനായ കർത്താവിന്റെ കാതുകളിൽ എത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
നിങ്ങൾ ഭൂമിയിൽ സുഖലോലുപരായി ആഡംബരജീവിതം നയിച്ചു. കശാപ്പുദിവസത്തിനായി എന്നപോലെ നിങ്ങൾ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ കൊഴുപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
6 Ye have condemned [and] killed the just; [and] he doth not resist you.
നിങ്ങളോട് എതിർക്കാതിരിക്കുന്ന നിരപരാധിയെ നിങ്ങൾ കുറ്റം വിധിക്കുകയും കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്തു.
7 Be patient, therefore, brethren, to the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receiveth the early and the latter rain.
സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, കർത്താവിന്റെ പുനരാഗമനംവരെ ദീർഘക്ഷമയോടെ ഇരിക്കുക. ഭൂമി നൽകുന്ന മെച്ചമായ വിളവിനായി മുൻമഴയും പിൻമഴയും പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് എത്ര ക്ഷമയോടെയാണ് ഒരു കർഷകൻ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്!
8 Be ye also patient; establish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
നിങ്ങളും ക്ഷമയോടെ കാത്തിരിക്കുക; കർത്താവിന്റെ വരവു സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാൽ നിങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിരചിത്തരാകുക.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങൾ വിധിക്കപ്പെടാതെ ഇരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്, ആരും പരസ്പരം ദുരാരോപണം ഉന്നയിക്കരുത്. ഇതാ, ന്യായാധിപൻ വാതിൽക്കൽ ആയിരിക്കുന്നു!
10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, കർത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ സംസാരിച്ച പ്രവാചകരെ സഹനത്തിനും ദീർഘക്ഷമയ്ക്കും മാതൃകയായി സ്വീകരിക്കുക.
11 Behold, we count them happy who endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
കഷ്ടത സഹിഷ്ണുതയോടെ അഭിമുഖീകരിച്ചവരെ നാം അനുഗൃഹീതരായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നു. ഇയ്യോബിന്റെ സഹിഷ്ണുതയെക്കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ കേൾക്കുകയും കർത്താവു വരുത്തിയ ശുഭാന്ത്യം കാണുകയുംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു. കർത്താവ് ദയാപൂർണനും കരുണാമയനും ആകുന്നു.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea, be yea: and [your] nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
സർവോപരി, എന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, സ്വർഗത്തെക്കൊണ്ടോ ഭൂമിയെക്കൊണ്ടോ മറ്റ് എന്തിനെയെങ്കിലുംകൊണ്ടോ നിങ്ങൾ ശപഥംചെയ്യരുത്. നിങ്ങൾ “അതേ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ “അതേ” എന്നും, “അല്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ “അല്ല” എന്നും ആയിരിക്കട്ടെ. അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം നിങ്ങൾ ശിക്ഷാർഹരാകും.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing psalms.
നിങ്ങളിൽ കഷ്ടത സഹിക്കുന്നയാൾ പ്രാർഥിക്കട്ടെ. ആനന്ദം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നയാൾ സ്തോത്രഗാനം ആലപിക്കട്ടെ.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാൾ രോഗിയാണെങ്കിൽ സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരെ വിളിക്കുക. അവർ കർത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ എണ്ണ പുരട്ടി അയാൾക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാർഥിക്കട്ടെ.
15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he hath committed sins, they will be forgiven him.
വിശ്വാസത്തോടെയുള്ള പ്രാർഥന രോഗിയെ സൗഖ്യമാക്കും. കർത്താവ് അയാളെ എഴുന്നേൽപ്പിക്കും; അയാൾ പാപംചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ കർത്താവ് ക്ഷമിക്കും.
16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much.
ഇപ്രകാരം സൗഖ്യം ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന് പരസ്പരം പാപങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റുപറഞ്ഞ് ഓരോരുത്തർക്കുംവേണ്ടി മറ്റുള്ളവർ പ്രാർഥിക്കണം. നീതിമാന്റെ പ്രാർഥന വളരെ ശക്തവും ഫലപ്രദവുമാണ്.
17 Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
ഏലിയാവും നമ്മെപ്പോലെതന്നെ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ആയിരുന്നു. മഴ പെയ്യാതിരിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹം ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ പ്രാർഥിച്ചപ്പോൾ ദേശത്തു മൂന്നര വർഷത്തേക്കു മഴ പെയ്തില്ല.
18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.
അദ്ദേഹം വീണ്ടും പ്രാർഥിച്ചപ്പോൾ ആകാശം മഴ നൽകുകയും ഭൂമി അതിന്റെ വിളവ് ഉൽപ്പാദിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
19 Brethren, if any one of you should err from the truth, and one should convert him;
എന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാൾ സത്യംവിട്ടുഴലുകയും അയാളെ ആരെങ്കിലും തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയുംചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ
20 Let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will hide a multitude of sins.
ഇതറിയുക: പാപിയെ തെറ്റിൽനിന്നു പിന്തിരിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആൾ അയാളെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു രക്ഷിക്കും; അയാളുടെ അസംഖ്യമായ പാപങ്ങൾ മറയ്ക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യും.
