James 3
1 My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
เห มม ภฺราตร: , ศิกฺษไกรสฺมาภิ รฺคุรุตรทณฺโฑ ลปฺสฺยต อิติ ชฺญาตฺวา ยูยมฺ อเนเก ศิกฺษกา มา ภวตฯ
2 For in many things we all offend. If any man offendeth not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
ยต: สรฺเวฺว วยํ พหุวิษเยษุ สฺขลาม: , ย: กศฺจิทฺ วาเกฺย น สฺขลติ ส สิทฺธปุรุษ: กฺฤตฺสฺนํ วศีกรฺตฺตุํ สมรฺถศฺจาสฺติฯ
3 Behold, we put bits in the mouths of horses, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
ปศฺยต วยมฺ อศฺวานฺ วศีกรฺตฺตุํ เตษำ วกฺเตฺรษุ ขลีนานฺ นิธาย เตษำ กฺฤตฺสฺนํ ศรีรมฺ อนุวรฺตฺตยาม: ฯ
4 Behold also the ships, which though they are so great, and [are] driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small helm, withersoever the governor willeth.
ปศฺยต เย โปตา อตีว พฺฤหทาการา: ปฺรจณฺฑวาไตศฺจ จาลิตาเสฺต'ปิ กรฺณธารสฺย มโน'ภิมตาทฺ อติกฺษุเทฺรณ กรฺเณน วาญฺฉิตํ สฺถานํ ปฺรตฺยนุวรฺตฺตนฺเตฯ
5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
ตทฺวทฺ รสนาปิ กฺษุทฺรตรางฺคํ สนฺตี ทรฺปวากฺยานิ ภาษเตฯ ปศฺย กีทฺฤงฺมหารณฺยํ ทหฺยเต 'เลฺปน วหฺนินาฯ
6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire from hell. (Geenna g1067)
รสนาปิ ภเวทฺ วหฺนิรธรฺมฺมรูปปิษฺฏเปฯ อสฺมทงฺเคษุ รสนา ตาทฺฤศํ สนฺติษฺฐติ สา กฺฤตฺสฺนํ เทหํ กลงฺกยติ สฺฤษฺฏิรถสฺย จกฺรํ ปฺรชฺวลยติ นรกานเลน ชฺวลติ จฯ (Geenna g1067)
7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of animals in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:
ปศุปกฺษฺยุโรคชลจราณำ สรฺเวฺวษำ สฺวภาโว ทมยิตุํ ศกฺยเต มานุษิกสฺวภาเวน ทมยาญฺจเกฺร จฯ
8 But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
กินฺตุ มานวานำ เกนาปิ ชิหฺวา ทมยิตุํ น ศกฺยเต สา น นิวารฺยฺยมฺ อนิษฺฏํ หลาหลวิเษณ ปูรฺณา จฯ
9 With this we bless God, even the Father; and with this we curse men, who are made after the similitude of God.
ตยา วยํ ปิตรมฺ อีศฺวรํ ธนฺยํ วทาม: , ตยา เจศฺวรสฺย สาทฺฤเศฺย สฺฤษฺฏานฺ มานวานฺ ศปาม: ฯ
10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
เอกสฺมาทฺ วทนาทฺ ธนฺยวาทศาเปา นิรฺคจฺฉต: ฯ เห มม ภฺราตร: , เอตาทฺฤศํ น กรฺตฺตวฺยํฯ
11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet [water] and bitter?
ปฺรสฺรวณ: กิมฺ เอกสฺมาตฺ ฉิทฺราตฺ มิษฺฏํ ติกฺตญฺจ โตยํ นิรฺคมยติ?
12 Can the fig-tree, my brethren, bear olive-berries? or a vine, figs? so no fountain [can] yield both salt water and fresh.
เห มม ภฺราตร: , อุฑุมฺพรตรุ: กึ ชิตผลานิ ทฺรากฺษาลตา วา กิมฺ อุฑุมฺพรผลานิ ผลิตุํ ศกฺโนติ? ตทฺวทฺ เอก: ปฺรสฺรวโณ ลวณมิษฺเฏ โตเย นิรฺคมยิตุํ น ศกฺโนติฯ
13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show by a good deportment his works with meekness of wisdom.
ยุษฺมากํ มเธฺย ชฺญานี สุโพธศฺจ ก อาเสฺต? ตสฺย กรฺมฺมาณิ ชฺญานมูลกมฺฤทุตายุกฺตานีติ สทาจาราตฺ ส ปฺรมาณยตุฯ
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
กินฺตุ ยุษฺมทนฺต: กรณมเธฺย ยทิ ติกฺเตรฺษฺยา วิวาเทจฺฉา จ วิทฺยเต ตรฺหิ สตฺยมตสฺย วิรุทฺธํ น ศฺลาฆธฺวํ นจานฺฤตํ กถยตฯ
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, demoniacal.
ตาทฺฤศํ ชฺญานมฺ อูรฺทฺธฺวาทฺ อาคตํ นหิ กินฺตุ ปารฺถิวํ ศรีริ เภาติกญฺจฯ
16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.
ยโต เหโตรีรฺษฺยา วิวาเทจฺฉา จ ยตฺร เวเทฺยเต ตไตฺรว กลห: สรฺวฺวํ ทุษฺกฺฤตญฺจ วิทฺยเตฯ
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
กินฺตูรฺทฺธฺวาทฺ อาคตํ ยตฺ ชฺญานํ ตตฺ ปฺรถมํ ศุจิ ตต: ปรํ ศานฺตํ กฺษานฺตมฺ อาศุสนฺเธยํ ทยาทิสตฺผไล: ปริปูรฺณมฺ อสนฺทิคฺธํ นิษฺกปฏญฺจ ภวติฯ
18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.
ศานฺตฺยาจาริภิ: ศานฺตฺยา ธรฺมฺมผลํ โรปฺยเตฯ
