1 My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Ka lâibungngei le sarnungei, mi tamtak minchupungei chu hong chang no roi. Nin riet anghan eini minchupungei hih chu midangngei nêkin ânngar uolin ei chungroi jêkin aom rang ani.

2 For in many things we all offend. If any man offendeth not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

Ei rêngin ei tho minchâi bang ngâi. Aniatachu mîn a chong tina han a minchâi tet nônchu, ama hah achukphar ania, a takpumpui khom a donsûi thei ani.

3 Behold, we put bits in the mouths of horses, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

Sakor hih chong ei min don theina rangin a bâia lakam ei min muomin chu ei jôtna titieng min se rangin atakpum ei mehei thei ngâi ani.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they are so great, and [are] driven by fierce winds, yet they are turned about with a very small helm, withersoever the governor willeth.

Aninônchu rukuong hih mindon ta u: alienpa aninâka chu phâivuo râtin a sêmminlêng khomin rukuongpu'n ameherna chînte leh meheiin a nuomna tiengtak a min se ngâi ani.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

Masikin melei khom hih: achînte khom nirese, neinun lienngei chungroia ânsongpam thei ani. Mindon ngân ta u, kho-angin mo meirisi chînte hin ram pumpui akâng thei ngâi hi!

6 And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire from hell. (Geenna g1067)

Melei hih mei angin ani. Ma hih rammuol dikloina sip, ei takpumngei sûnga mun a luoa, male ei pumpuia saloina aminzara. Meidîl renga juong akôma mei lehan ei ringnun pumpui hih mei chunga adar ngâi ani. (Geenna g1067)

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of animals in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed by mankind:

Miriemin iring parân dangngei murdi ram sângei, vângei, ânvâkngâingei le ngângei a vâimintep theia, a vâi ngâi zoi.

8 But the tongue can no man tame; [it is] an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Aniatachu melei chu tutên vâimintep thei tet ngâi mak ngei. Melei hih chu asaloi le donsûitheijât niloi, thitheina tûra sip ani.

9 With this we bless God, even the Father; and with this we curse men, who are made after the similitude of God.

Ei nin ma hih ei Pumapa le Pa kôm râisânchongrilnân ei manga, midang ngei Pathien anga sina ompu ngei khomâksâmna khomin ei mang sa ngâi ani.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Ma bâi renga nanâk han râisânchongrilna chongngei le khomâksâmna ngei ahong suok ngâi ani. Ka lâibungngei le sarnungei, ma anghan chu ani rang nimak!

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet [water] and bitter?

Tuinâr inkhat nanâk renga han tui thum le tui khâ hong suok ngâi mak.

12 Can the fig-tree, my brethren, bear olive-berries? or a vine, figs? so no fountain [can] yield both salt water and fresh.

Ka lâibungngei le sarnungei, theichang kunga olive inra thei ngâi mak; graperânga theichang inra thei ngâi mak, michi khura khom tui thum musuo thei ngâi mak ani.

13 Who [is] a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show by a good deportment his works with meekness of wisdom.

Nin lâia mi vâr le rietna dôn an om mo? Nuninnêm tak le vâr takin an sintho sa le an nunchan sân minlang rese ngei.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

Aniatachu nin mulungrîl sûnga narsanangei, mulungkhâ le ranghuolna nin dônnin chu nin vârna hah songin chongtak kalin nunsie tho no roi.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, demoniacal.

Ma anga vârna hah chu invân renga juong chum nimaka; rammuol ta, rathatienga niloiin ramkhori renga ani.

16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.

Innarsana le ranghuolna omna nâma chu bâiinkhamna le asaloi jât murdi khom aom ngâi ani.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Aniatachu chungtieng renga vârna chu motontaka ânthienga; inngêi a nuoma, a nunânnêma, chongpui a hoia, lungkhamna le sintho sa amarân asipa, zenuolna le asarothol dôn ngâi mak ani.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.

Satna hih inngêina mara, ma hih inngêina sinpu ngeiin chimungei an tuhna renga hong musuo ani.
