Isaiah 46
1 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your loads [were] heavy; [they were] a burden to the weary [beast].
Bel a été rompu; Nabo a été brisé; leurs simulacres ont été mis sur des bêtes et sur des animaux de service; ces fardeaux que vous portiez allaient par leur grand poids jusqu’à vous lasser.
2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves have gone into captivity.
Ils ont péri et ont été brisés tous ensemble; ils n’ont pu sauver celui qui les portait, et ils iront eux-mêmes en captivité.
3 Hearken to me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne [by me] from the birth, which are carried from the womb:
Ecoutez-moi, maison de Jacob, et vous tous, restes de la maison d’Israël, qui êtes portés dans mon sein, qui êtes renfermés dans mes entrailles.
4 And [even] to [your] old age I [am] he; and [even] to hoary hairs will I carry [you]: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver [you].
Moi-même je vous porterai jusqu’à la vieillesse, jusqu’aux cheveux blancs; c’est moi qui vous ai faits, et c’est moi qui vous soutiendrai; c’est moi qui vous porterai, et vous sauverai.
5 To whom will ye liken me, and make [me] equal, and compare me, that we may be like?
À qui m’avez-vous assimilé, égalé, comparé et rendu semblable?
6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, [and] hire a goldsmith; and he maketh it a god: they fall down, yes, they worship.
Vous qui tirez de l’or de la bourse, et pesez de l’argent dans la balance; louant un orfèvre afin qu’il fasse un Dieu; et on se prosterne et on adore.
7 They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yes, [one] shall cry to him, yet he cannot answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
Ils le chargent sur les épaules pour le porter, et pour le placer en son lieu; il y demeurera et ne sera pas ôté de son lieu; mais lorsqu’on criera vers lui, il n’entendra pas; de la tribulation il ne les sauvera pas.
8 Remember this, and show yourselves men: bring [it] again to mind, O ye transgressors.
Souvenez-vous de cela et soyez confondus; rentrez dans votre cœur, prévaricateurs.
9 Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; I [am] God, and [there is] none like me,
Rappelez-vous le siècle passé; parce que moi je suis Dieu, et qu’il n’y a plus d’autre Dieu, et qu’il n’y a pas semblable à moi;
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times [the things] that are not [yet] done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Annonçant dès l’origine la fin des temps, et dès le commencement les choses qui ne sont pas encore faites, disant: Ma résolution sera inébranlable, et toute ma volonté s’exécutera;
11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yes, I have spoken [it], I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed [it], I will also perform it.
J’appelle de l’orient un oiseau, et d’une terre lointaine l’homme de ma volonté; et je l’ai dit, et je l’accomplirai; j’ai formé ce dessein et je l’exécuterai.
12 Hearken to me, ye stout-hearted, that [are] far from righteousness:
Ecoutez-moi, vous au cœur dur, qui êtes éloignés de la justice.
13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not delay: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
J’ai rapproché le temps de ma justice, il ne sera pas différé, et mon salut ne tardera pas. J’établirai dans Sion le salut, et dans Israël ma gloire.
