Isaiah 42
1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my elect, [in whom] my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
“He aquí mi siervo, a quien yo sostengo, mi elegido, en quien se deleita mi alma: He puesto mi Espíritu en él. Llevará la justicia a las naciones.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
No gritará, ni levantar la voz, ni hacer que se escuche en la calle.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment to truth.
No romperá una caña magullada. No apagará una mecha apenas encendida. Él hará justicia fielmente.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he hath set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
No fracasará ni se desanimará, hasta que haya establecido la justicia en la tierra, y las islas esperan su ley”.
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and expanded them; he that spread forth the earth, and that which it produceth; he that giveth breath to the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.
Dios Yahvé, el que creó los cielos y los extendió, el que extendió la tierra y lo que sale de ella, el que da aliento a su pueblo y espíritu a los que caminan en él, dice:
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thy hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
“Yo, Yahvé, te he llamado en justicia. Te llevaré de la mano. Te mantendré, y te haré un pacto para el pueblo, como luz para las naciones,
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, [and] them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.
para abrir los ojos ciegos, para sacar a los prisioneros del calabozo, y a los que se sientan en las tinieblas fuera de la cárcel.
8 I [am] the LORD: that [is] my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
“Yo soy Yahvé. Ese es mi nombre. No daré mi gloria a otro, ni mi alabanza a las imágenes grabadas.
9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.
He aquí que las cosas anteriores han sucedido y declaro cosas nuevas. Te las cuento antes de que surjan”.
10 Sing to the LORD a new song, [and] his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is in it; the isles, and their inhabitants.
Canten a Yahvé un cántico nuevo, y su alabanza desde el fin de la tierra, tú que bajas al mar, y todo lo que hay en ella, las islas y sus habitantes.
11 Let the wilderness and its cities lift up [their voice], the villages [that] Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
Que el desierto y sus ciudades alcen la voz, con los pueblos que habita Kedar. Que canten los habitantes de Sala. ¡Que griten desde la cima de las montañas!
12 Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare his praise in the isles.
Que den gloria a Yahvé, y declarar su alabanza en las islas.
13 The LORD will go forth as a mighty man, he will stir up jealousy like a man of war: he will cry, yes, roar; he will prevail against his enemies.
Yahvé saldrá como un hombre poderoso. Despertará el celo como un hombre de guerra. Lanzará un grito de guerra. Sí, gritará en voz alta. Triunfará sobre sus enemigos.
14 I have long time held my peace; I have been still, [and] restrained myself: [now] will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
“He estado mucho tiempo en silencio. Me he callado y me he contenido. Ahora gritaré como una mujer de parto. Jadearé y jadearé.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers [to be] islands, and I will dry up the pools.
Destruiré montañas y colinas, y secar todas sus hierbas. Haré que los ríos sean islas, y secará los estanques.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way [that] they knew not; I will lead them in paths [that] they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do for them, and not forsake them.
Llevaré a los ciegos por un camino que no conocen. Los guiaré por caminos que no conocen. Haré que las tinieblas se iluminen ante ellos, y los lugares torcidos se enderezan. Haré estas cosas, y no los abandonaré.
17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye [are] our gods.
“Los que confían en las imágenes grabadas, que cuentan imágenes fundidas, ‘Ustedes son nuestros dioses’. será devuelto. Se sentirán totalmente decepcionados.
18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.
“Oíd, sordos, y mira, eres ciego, para que puedas ver.
19 Who [is] blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger [that] I sent? who [is] blind as [he that is] perfect, and blind as the LORD'S servant?
¿Quién es ciego, sino mi siervo? ¿O quién es tan sordo como el mensajero que envío? Que es tan ciego como el que está en paz, y tan ciego como el siervo de Yahvé?
20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not.
Ves muchas cosas, pero no observas. Sus oídos están abiertos, pero no escucha.
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make [it] honorable.
A Yahvé le agradó, por su justicia, engrandecer la ley y hacerla honorable.
22 But this [is] a people robbed and pillaged; [they are] all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison-houses; they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
Pero este es un pueblo robado y saqueado. Todos ellos están atrapados en agujeros, y están escondidos en las cárceles. Se han convertido en cautivos, y nadie los entrega, y un saqueo, y nadie dice: “¡Respóndelos!
23 Who among you will give ear to this? [who] will hearken, and hear for the time to come?
¿Quién hay entre vosotros que preste atención a esto? ¿Quién escuchará y oirá en el futuro?
24 Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient to his law.
Que dio a Jacob como botín, e Israel a los ladrones? ¿No lo hizo Yahvé, aquel contra quien hemos pecado? Porque no quisieron seguir sus caminos, y desobedecieron su ley.
25 Therefore he hath poured upon him the fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on fire around, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid [it] not to heart.
Por eso derramó sobre él el ardor de su ira, y la fuerza de la batalla. Le prendió fuego a todo, pero no lo sabía. Le quemó, pero no se lo tomó a pecho”.
