Isaiah 38

1 In those days was Hezekiah sick with a mortal disease. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

അക്കാലത്ത് ഹിസ്കിയാവ് രോഗംബാധിച്ച്, മരണാസന്നനായിത്തീർന്നു. ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്ന് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: നീ മരിച്ചുപോകും; രക്ഷപ്പെടുകയില്ല. അതിനാൽ നിന്റെ കുടുംബകാര്യങ്ങളെല്ലാം ക്രമീകരിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക.”

2 Then Hezekiah turned his face towards the wall, and prayed to the LORD,

ഹിസ്കിയാവ് ഭിത്തിയിലേക്കു മുഖംതിരിച്ച് യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു:

3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done [that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

“യഹോവേ, ദയ തോന്നണമേ, അടിയൻ എപ്രകാരം തിരുമുമ്പിൽ വിശ്വസ്തതയോടും ഏകാഗ്രഹൃദയത്തോടുംകൂടെ ജീവിച്ചെന്നും അവിടത്തെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ നന്മയായുള്ളതു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചെന്നും ഓർക്കണമേ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് ഹിസ്കിയാവ് പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.

4 Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying,

അപ്പോൾ യെശയ്യാവിന് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടുണ്ടായി:

5 Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add to thy days fifteen years.

“നീ പോയി ഹിസ്കിയാവിനോടു പറയുക: ‘നിന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പ്രാർഥന കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; നിന്റെ കണ്ണുനീർ കണ്ടുമിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിനോടു പതിനഞ്ചുവർഷം കൂട്ടും.

6 And I will deliver thee and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria: and I will defend this city.

ഞാൻ നിന്നെയും ഈ നഗരത്തെയും അശ്ശൂർരാജാവിന്റെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കും. ഈ നഗരത്തെ ഞാൻ സംരക്ഷിക്കും.

7 And this [shall be] a sign to thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;

“‘താൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ കാര്യം യഹോവ ചെയ്യും എന്നുള്ളതിന്, ഇതു യഹോവയിൽനിന്നു നിനക്കുള്ള ഒരു ചിഹ്നമായിരിക്കും:

8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which hath gone down on the sun-dial of Ahaz ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it had gone down.

ആഹാസിന്റെ സൂര്യഘടികാരത്തിൽ ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിട്ടുള്ള നിഴലിനെ പത്തുചുവടു പിറകോട്ടു തിരിച്ചുവരാൻ ഞാൻ ഇടയാക്കും.’” അങ്ങനെ ഘടികാരത്തിൽ സൂര്യൻ ഇറങ്ങിപ്പോയിരുന്ന നിഴൽ പത്തു പടി പിറകോട്ടുപോയി.

9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and had recovered from his sickness:

തന്റെ രോഗത്തിനും രോഗശാന്തിക്കുംശേഷം യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ഹിസ്കിയാവ് എഴുതിയത്:

10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol h7585)

“എന്റെ ആയുസ്സിന്റെ മധ്യാഹ്നസമയത്ത് ഞാൻ പാതാളകവാടത്തിലേക്കു പ്രവേശിക്കേണ്ടിവരുമോ എന്റെ ശിഷ്ടായുസ്സ് എന്നിൽനിന്നും കവർന്നെടുക്കപ്പെടുമോ,” എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു. (Sheol h7585)

11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, [even] the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

“ഭൂമിയിൽ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യാഹാം യാഹിനെ ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും കാണുകയില്ല; ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഹജീവിയുടെമേൽ ദൃഷ്ടിവെക്കുകയില്ല, ഭൂവാസികളോടൊപ്പം ഞാൻ ആയിരിക്കുകയുമില്ല,” എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

12 My age hath departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day [even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.

“ഒരു ആട്ടിടയന്റെ കൂടാരംപോലെ എന്റെ വാസസ്ഥലം എന്നിൽനിന്ന് പിഴുതുമാറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഒരു നെയ്ത്തുകാരനെപ്പോലെ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ജീവനെ ചുരുട്ടിവെക്കുന്നു, അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ തറിയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നപോലെ മുറിച്ചുമാറ്റുന്നു; രാപകൽ എന്നെ പ്രഹരിച്ച് അവിടന്ന് എനിക്ക് അന്തം വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

13 I reckoned till morning, [that], as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day [even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.

വെളുക്കുംവരെ ഞാൻ ക്ഷമയോടെ കാത്തിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ അവിടന്ന് ഒരു സിംഹമെന്നപോലെ എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളെയെല്ലാം തകർക്കുന്നു; രാപകൽ എന്നെ പ്രഹരിച്ച് അവിടന്ന് എനിക്ക് അന്തം വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

14 Like a crane [or] a swallow, so I chattered: I mourned as a dove: my eyes fail [with looking] upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.

ഒരു മീവൽപ്പക്ഷിയെപ്പോലെയോ കൊക്കിനെപ്പോലെയോ ഞാൻ ചിലച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു, ഒരു പ്രാവിനെപ്പോലെ ഞാൻ കുറുകിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. എന്റെ കണ്ണ് ഉയരത്തിലേക്ക് നോക്കി വളരെ തളർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു, കർത്താവേ, ഞാൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്നെ സഹായിക്കാൻ വരണമേ!”

15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken to me, and himself hath done [it]: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.

എന്നാൽ ഇനി ഞാൻ എന്താണു പറയേണ്ടത്? അവിടന്ന് എന്നോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു, അവിടന്നുതന്നെ അതു ചെയ്തുമിരിക്കുന്നു. ഞാൻ അനുഭവിച്ച ഈ കഠിനവേദന നിമിത്തം എന്റെ ജീവിതകാലംമുഴുവനും ഞാൻ താഴ്മയോടെ ജീവിക്കും.

16 O LORD, by these [things men] live, and in all these [things is] the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

കർത്താവേ, ഇവയാൽ മനുഷ്യർ ജീവിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ ആത്മാവും ഇവയിൽ ജീവൻ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നു. അങ്ങ് എന്റെ ആരോഗ്യം തിരികെത്തന്നു; ഇനി ഞാൻ ജീവിക്കട്ടെ.

17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul [delivered it] from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

തീർച്ചയായും ഞാൻ ഇത്രവലിയ വേദന അനുഭവിച്ചത് എന്റെ നന്മയ്ക്കായിത്തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു. അവിടത്തെ സ്നേഹം വിനാശഗർത്തത്തിൽനിന്ന് എന്റെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങ് എന്റെ സർവപാപങ്ങളും അവിടത്തെ പിറകിൽ എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

18 For the grave cannot praise thee, death can [not] celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. (Sheol h7585)

പാതാളത്തിന് അങ്ങയെ സ്തുതിക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല, മരണത്തിന് അങ്ങയുടെ സ്തുതി പാടുന്നതിനും; കുഴിയിലേക്കിറങ്ങുന്നവർക്ക് അങ്ങയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തതയിൽ ആശവെക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ല. (Sheol h7585)

19 The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I [do] this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

ജീവനുള്ളവർ, ജീവനുള്ളവർമാത്രമാണ് ഇന്നു ഞാൻ ചെയ്യുംപോലെ അങ്ങയെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നത്; മാതാപിതാക്കൾ അങ്ങയുടെ വിശ്വസ്തതയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോട് അറിയിക്കുന്നു.

20 The LORD [was ready] to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

യഹോവ എന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കും, ഞങ്ങളുടെ ആയുഷ്കാലം മുഴുവനും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ തന്ത്രികൾ മീട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് ഗാനം ആലപിക്കും.

21 For Isaiah had said, Let them take a lump of figs, and lay [it] for a plaster upon the boil, and he will recover.

“അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു സൗഖ്യം വരേണ്ടതിന്, ലേപനൗഷധമായി അത്തിപ്പഴംകൊണ്ട് ഒരു കുഴമ്പുണ്ടാക്കി പരുവിന്മേൽ പുരട്ടണം,” എന്നു യെശയ്യാവ് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

22 Hezekiah also had said, What [is] the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?

“ഞാൻ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ പോകും എന്നതിനുള്ള ചിഹ്നം എന്തായിരിക്കും?” എന്നു ഹിസ്കിയാവ് ചോദിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
