< Isaiah 33 >

1 Woe to thee that layest waste, and thou [wast] not laid waste; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to lay waste, thou shalt be wasted; [and] when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
Ke malaʻia ʻa koe ʻoku ke fakamālohi, ka naʻe ʻikai fakamālohiʻi koe; ʻa koe ʻoku fai kākā, ka naʻe ʻikai ke kākaaʻi koe! ʻOka ke ka tuku hoʻo fakamālohi, ʻe toki fakamālohiʻi koe; pea ka ʻosi hoʻo fai kākā, ʻe toki kākaaʻi koe.
2 O LORD, be gracious to us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
‌ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate kimautolu; kuo mau tatali kiate koe: ke ke hoko ko homau mālohi ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, ʻio, ko homau fakamoʻui ʻi he kuonga ʻoe mamahi.
3 At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.
‌ʻI he longoaʻa ʻoe tokolahi naʻe hola ʻae kakai; ʻi hoʻo tuʻu hake ʻaʻau, naʻe veteki ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga.
4 And your spoil shall be gathered [like] the gathering of the caterpillar: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
Ka e tānaki hoʻomou koloa ʻoe vete ʻo hangē ko e tānaki ʻe he ʻunufe: ʻo hangē ko e fehōpoaki ʻoe ngaahi heʻe te ne lele kiate kinautolu.
5 The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
Kuo hiki hake ʻa Sihova; he kuo ʻafio ia ʻi ʻolunga: kuo ne fakafonu ʻa Saione ʻaki ʻae fakamaau mo e angatonu.
6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, [and] strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD [is] his treasure.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻae poto mo e ʻilo ko e mālohi ʻo ho kuonga, mo e mālohi ʻoe fakamoʻui: ko e manavahē kia Sihova ko ʻene koloa ia.
7 Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the embassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.
Vakai, ko ʻenau kau toʻa, ʻe tangi ʻituʻa: ʻe tangi mamahi ʻae kau faifekau ʻoe melino.
8 The highways lie waste, the way-faring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.
9 The earth mourneth [and] languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed [and] hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off [their fruits].
‌ʻOku mamahi ʻae fonua pea vaivai: kuo mā ʻa Lepanoni, kuo tā hifo ia: ʻoku tatau mo e potu vao ʻa Saloni; pea ʻoku fakangangana ʻae ngaahi fua ʻo Pesani mo Kameli.
10 Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “te u tuʻu hake ni: te u hiki hake ni au ki ʻolunga, pea ʻe hakeakiʻi ni au.
11 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, [as] fire, shall devour you.
Te mou tuituʻia ko e kafukafu, te mou fanauʻi ko e veve: ko hoʻomou mānava, ʻo hangē ko e afi, te ne fakaʻauha ʻakimoutolu.
12 And the people shall be [as] the burnings of lime: [as] thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
Pea ʻe tutu ʻae kakai ʻo hangē ko e vela ʻoe lahe: ʻo hangē ko e ʻakau talatala kuo tutuʻu ke vela ʻi he afi.
13 Ye [that are] far off, hear what I have done; and ye [that are] near, acknowledge my might.
Fanongo, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku mamaʻo, ki he meʻa kuo u fai; pea ʻilo mo kimoutolu ʻoku ofi, ki hoku mālohi.”
14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
‌ʻOku manavahē ʻae kau angahala ʻi Saione; kuo pukea ʻi he ilifia ʻae kau mālualoi. “Ko hai ʻiate kitautolu ʻe nofo ʻi he afi fakaʻauha? Ko hai ʻiate kitautolu ʻe nofo ʻi he vela taʻengata?”
15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
Ko ia ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi he māʻoniʻoni, mo lea totonu; ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki he koloa ʻoe fakamālohi, ʻoku tupeʻi hono nima mei he puke ʻae koloa ʻoku maʻu taʻetotonu, ʻoku tāpuni hono telinga mei he fanongo ki he toto, pea fakamohe hono mata ke ʻoua naʻa mamata ki he kovi;
16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defense [shall be] the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters [shall be] sure.
‌ʻE nofo ia ʻi he māʻolunga: ko hono potu ungaʻanga ko e ngaahi kolo maka māʻolunga: ʻe foaki kiate ia ʻae mā; pea te ne maʻu moʻoni ʻe ia ʻene vai.
17 Thy eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
‌ʻE mamata ho mata ki he tuli ʻi hono nāunau: ʻe sio ia ki he fonua ʻaia ʻoku mamaʻo atu.
18 Thy heart shall meditate terror. Where [is] the scribe? where [is] the receiver? where [is] he that counted the towers?
‌ʻE fakalaulauloto ʻa ho loto ki he ilifia. Kofaʻā ʻae tangata tohi? Kofaʻā ia ʻae tangata fakamamafa meʻa? Kofaʻā ia naʻe lau ʻae ngaahi fale māʻolunga?
19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, [that thou canst] not understand.
‌ʻE ʻikai te ke mamata ki he kakai ʻoku lili, ha kakai ʻoe lea ʻilongataʻa ʻoku ʻikai te ke faʻa ongoʻi; ʻo ha ʻelelo leʻo vale, ʻoku ʻikai te ke faʻa ʻilo.
20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thy eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle [that] shall not be taken down; not one of its stakes shall ever be removed, neither shall any of its cords be broken.
21 But there the glorious LORD [will be] to us a place of broad rivers [and] streams; in which shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass through it.
22 For the LORD [is] our judge, the LORD [is] our lawgiver, the LORD [is] our king; he will save us.
He ko Sihova ko hotau fakamaau, ko Sihova ko hotau fai fono, ko Sihova ko hotau tuʻi; te ne fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu.
23 Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.
Kuo tukuange hoʻo ngaahi maea; naʻe ʻikai te nau fakatuʻumaʻu honau fanā, naʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa fofola ʻae lā: ʻi he kuonga ko ia ʻe tufa ʻae koloa lahi, ʻe ʻave ʻe he ketu ʻae koloa ʻi he vete.
24 And the inhabitants shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein [shall be] forgiven [their] iniquity.
Pea ʻe ʻikai pehē ʻe kinautolu ʻoku nofo ai, “ʻOku ou mahaki:” ʻe fakamolemole ʻae hia ʻokinautolu ʻoku nofo ai.
