Isaiah 21
1 The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; [so] it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
Povara deşertului mării. Precum trec vârtejurile de vânt din sud, la fel vine din deşert, dintr-o ţară înfricoşătoare.
2 A grievous vision is declared to me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler plundereth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all her sighing have I made to cease.
O viziune apăsătoare îmi este arătată; cel perfid se poartă cu perfidie şi prădătorul pradă. Urcă-te, Elame, asediază tu Medio! Am făcut să înceteze tot suspinul lor.
3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing [of it]; I was dismayed at the seeing [of it].
De aceea coapsele mele sunt umplute cu durere; junghiuri m-au apucat, ca junghiurile unei femei care [suferă] durerile naşterii; am fost încovoiat la auzirea ei; am fost descurajat la vederea ei.
4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear to me.
Inima mea a tânjit, groaza m-a înspăimântat; el mi-a prefăcut în frică noaptea plăcerii mele.
5 Prepare the table, watch in the watch-tower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, [and] anoint the shield.
Pregătiţi masa, vegheaţi în turnul de veghere, mâncaţi, beţi; ridicaţi-vă, prinţilor, şi ungeţi scutul.
6 For thus hath the LORD said to me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
Fiindcă astfel mi-a spus Domnul: Du-te, pune un paznic, să vestească ce vede.
7 And he saw a chariot [with] a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, [and] a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
Iar el a văzut un car cu doi călăreţi, un car cu măgari [şi] un car cu cămile; şi le-a dat bine ascultare, cu multă atenţie;
8 And he cried, a lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watch-tower in the day time, and I am set in my ward whole nights.
Şi a strigat: Un leu, Domnul meu, stau continuu în turnul de veghere în timpul zilei şi sunt pus în postul meu nopţi întregi;
9 And behold, here cometh a chariot of men, [with] a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken to the ground.
Şi, iată, se apropie un car cu bărbaţi, cu doi călăreţi. Iar el a răspuns şi a zis: Babilonul a căzut, a căzut; şi toate chipurile cioplite ale dumnezeilor lui le-a zdrobit la pământ.
10 O my threshing, and the corn of my floor; that which I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared to you.
Treieratul meu şi grânele ariei mele, ceea ce am auzit de la DOMNUL oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, v-am vestit!
11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
Povara lui Duma. Mă cheamă din Seir: Paznicule, cât din noapte? Paznicule, cât din noapte?
12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will inquire, inquire ye: return, come.
Paznicul a spus: Dimineaţa vine şi de asemenea noaptea; dacă veţi cerceta, cercetaţi; întoarceţi-vă, veniţi.
13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye traveling companies of Dedanim.
Povara asupra Arabiei. În pădurea Arabiei veţi poposi, voi, caravane din Dedanim.
14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they met with their bread him that fled.
Locuitorii ţării Tema au adus apă celui însetat, l-au întâmpinat cu pâinea lor pe cel care fugea.
15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
Căci ei au fugit de săbii, de sabia scoasă şi de arcul încordat şi de apăsarea războiului.
16 For thus hath the LORD said to me, Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
Fiindcă astfel mi-a spus Domnul: Mai puţin de un an, conform anilor unui angajat, şi toată gloria Chedarului se va sfârşi;
17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken [it].
Şi rămăşiţa numărului de arcaşi, războinici ai copiilor Chedarului, va fi micşorată, căci DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel a vorbit.
