Hosea 5
1 Hear ye this, O priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ye ear, O house of the king; for judgment [is] towards you, because ye have been a snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
祭司たちよ、これを聞け、イスラエルの家よ、心をとめよ、王の家よ、耳を傾けよ、さばきはあなたがたに臨む。あなたがたはミヅパにわなを設け、タボルの上に網を張ったからだ。
2 And the revolters are profound to make slaughter, though I [have been] a rebuker of them all.
彼らはシッテムの穴を深くしたが、わたしは彼らをことごとく懲らしめる。
3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou art guilty of lewdness, [and] Israel is defiled.
わたしはエフライムを知っている。イスラエルはわたしに隠れることがない。エフライムよ、あなたは今淫行をなし、イスラエルは汚された。
4 They will not frame their doings to turn to their God: for the spirit of lewdness [is] in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.
彼らのおこないは彼らを神に帰らせない。それは淫行の霊が彼らのうちにあって、主を知ることができないからだ。
5 And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.
イスラエルの誇はその顔に向かって証言している。エフライムはその不義によってつまずき、ユダもまた彼らと共につまずく。
6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find [him]; he hath withdrawn himself from them.
彼らは羊の群れ、牛の群れを携えて行って、主を求めても、主に会うことはない。主は彼らから離れ去られた。
7 They have dealt treacherously against the LORD: for they have begotten strange children: now shall a month devour them with their portions.
彼らは主にむかって貞操を守らず、ほかの者の子を産んだ。新月は彼らをその田畑と共に滅ぼす。
8 Blow ye the cornet in Gibeah, [and] the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud [at] Beth-aven, after thee, O Benjamin.
ギベアで角笛を吹き、ラマでラッパを鳴らし、ベテアベンで呼ばわり叫べ。ベニヤミンよ、おののけ。
9 Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
エフライムは刑罰の日に荒れすたれる。わたしはイスラエルの部族のうちに、必ず起るべき事を知らせる。
10 The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: [therefore] I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
ユダの君たちは境を移す者のようになった。わたしはわが怒りを水のように彼らの上に注ぐ。
11 Ephraim [is] oppressed [and] broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the commandment.
エフライムは甘んじて、むなしいものに従って歩んだゆえ、さばきを受けて、しえたげられ、打ちひしがれる。
12 Therefore [will] I [be] to Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
それゆえ、わたしはエフライムには、しみのように、ユダの家には腐れのようになる。
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah [saw] his wound, then Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet he could not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
エフライムはおのれの病を見、ユダはおのれの傷を見たとき、エフライムはアッスリヤに行き、大王に人をつかわした。しかし彼はあなたがたをいやすことができない。また、あなたがたの傷をなおすことができない。
14 For I [will be] to Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, [even] I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue [him].
わたしはエフライムに対しては、ししのようになり、ユダの家に対しては若きししのようになる。わたしは、わたしこそ、かき裂いて去り、かすめて行くが、だれも救う者はない。
15 I will go [and] return to my place, till they acknowledge their offense, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
わたしは彼らがその罪を認めて、わが顔をたずね求めるまで、わたしの所に帰っていよう。彼らは悩みによって、わたしを尋ね求めて言う、
