Hosea 12
1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily multiplieth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Éphraïm a poursuivi un vent funeste qui a fait durer tout le jour l'ardente chaleur; il a multiplié les vanités et les folies; il a fait alliance avec les Assyriens; il a vendu de l'huile en Égypte.
2 The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
Et le Seigneur entrera en jugement avec Juda, afin de punir Jacob; et Il le rétribuera selon ses voies et ses œuvres.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:
Dans les entrailles de sa mère, il supplanta son frère, et, de ses travaux, il fut fort contre Dieu.
4 Yes, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him [in] Beth-el, and there he spoke with us;
Il fut fort avec un ange, et il prévalut; et ils pleurèrent, et ils Me prièrent, ils Me trouvèrent en la maison d'On; et là il leur fut parlé.
5 Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD [is] his memorial.
Et le Seigneur Dieu Tout-Puissant sera le mémorial de Jacob.
6 Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
Et toi, Éphraïm, tu te convertiras à ton Dieu; garde donc Sa miséricorde et Sa justice, et approche-toi toujours de ton Dieu.
7 [He is] a merchant, the balances of deceit [are] in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
Chanaan tient dans sa main une balance d'iniquité; il a aimé à opprimer avec violence.
8 And Ephraim said, Yet I have become rich, I have found for myself substance: [in] all my labors they shall find no iniquity in me that [were] sin.
Et Éphraïm a dit: Cependant je me suis enrichi, je me suis acquis le repos. Mais aucun de ses labeurs ne lui sera compté, à cause des injustices qu'il a commises.
9 And I [that am] the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
Moi, le Seigneur ton Dieu, Je t'ai fait sortir de l'Égypte; Je te ferai encore camper sous des tentes, comme dans les jours de fête.
10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes by the ministry of the prophets.
J'ai parlé aux prophètes, et J'ai multiplié les visions, et J'ai parlé par la bouche des prophètes.
11 [Is there] iniquity [in] Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yes, their altars [are] as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Si Galaad n'est plus, c'est qu'il y avait en Galaad des princes menteurs faisant des sacrifices, et leurs autels sont comme des amas de pierres dans un champ.
12 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept [sheep].
Et Jacob se retira en Syrie, et Israël servit pour une femme, et pour une femme il garda les troupeaux.
13 And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Et par Son prophète le Seigneur conduisit Israël hors de la terre d'Égypte, et c'est encore par Son prophète qu'Il le sauva.
14 Ephraim provoked [him] to anger most bitterly: therefore will he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach will his Lord return to him.
Et Éphraïm le provoqua et souleva Sa colère; mais le sang versé par Éphraïm retombera sur sa tête, et le Seigneur le rétribuera selon Son opprobre.
