Genesis 23
1 And Sarah was a hundred and twenty-seven years old: [these were] the years of the life of Sarah.
೧ಸಾರಳು ನೂರಿಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ವರ್ಷ ಬದುಕಿದಳು. ಇದು ಅವಳ ಒಟ್ಟು ಜೀವಮಾನ ಕಾಲದ ವರ್ಷಗಳು.
2 And Sarah died in Kirjath-arba; the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan: And Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
೨ಸಾರಳು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನೆಂಬ ಕಿರ್ಯತರ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತಳು. ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಬಂದು ಆಕೆಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡಿ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಸುರಿಸಿದನು.
3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spoke to the sons of Heth, saying,
೩ಆಮೇಲೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಶವದ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎದ್ದು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ,
4 I [am] a stranger and a sojourner with you; give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
೪“ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಪರದೇಶದವನೂ, ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಈಗ ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ಸಮಾಧಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಡಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡನು.
5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying to him,
೫ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ,
6 Hear us, my lord; thou [art] a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchers bury thy dead: none of us will withhold from thee his sepulcher, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
೬“ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು. ನೀನು ನಮಗೆ ಮಹಾ ಪ್ರಭುವಾಗಿದ್ದೀಯಷ್ಟೆ. ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿರುವ ನಿನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ದೇಹವನ್ನು ನಮಗಿರುವ ಸಮಾಧಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಶೇಷ್ಠವಾದದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡಬಹುದು. ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಇಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಸ್ಮಶಾನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲು
7 And Abraham stood up and bowed himself to the people of the land, to the children of Heth.
೭ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎದ್ದು, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆ ದೇಶದವರಿಗೆ ತಲೆಬಾಗಿ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದನು.
8 And he communed with them, saying, If it is your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight, hear me, and entreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
೮ಅವನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಪುನಃ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡುವುದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನನಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆ ಇದೆ. ನೀವು ಚೋಹರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಸಂಗಡ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ,
9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which [is] in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me, for a possession of a burying-place among you.
೯ಅವನ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲ ಗವಿಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡಿಸಿ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅವನು ನನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಈ ಸಮಾಧಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳ ನಿಮ್ಮೆದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೆ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದನು.
10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth. And Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, of all that entered the gates of his city, saying,
೧೦ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ನಡುವೆ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದನು. ಹೀಗಿರಲಾಗಿ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆ ಊರಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ,
11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I to thee, and the cave that [is] in it, I give it to thee; in the presence of the sons of my people I give it to thee: bury thy dead.
೧೧“ಹಾಗಲ್ಲ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು. ಆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ದಾನವಾಗಿ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ಮರಣಹೊಂದಿದ ನಿನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು”
12 And Abraham bowed himself before the people of the land.
೧೨ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಆ ದೇಶದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ
13 And he spoke to Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou [wilt give it], I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field: take [it] of me, and I will bury my dead there.
೧೩ಎಫ್ರೋನನಿಗೆ, “ಕೊಡಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿದ್ದರೆ ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನಾನು ಅರಿಕೆಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕೇಳು; ಆ ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಕ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನನ್ನಿಂದ ಕ್ರಯ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಪತ್ನಿಗೆ ಸಮಾಧಿ ಮಾಡುವೆನು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying to him,
೧೪ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ,
15 My lord, hearken to me: the land [is worth] four hundred shekels of silver; what [is] that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
೧೫“ಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನನ್ನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಲಾಲಿಸು; ನಾನೂರು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳ ಬೆಲೆಬಾಳುವ ಭೂಮಿಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೂ ನನಗೂ ವಾದವೇತಕ್ಕೆ? ಸಮಾಧಿಮಾಡಬಹುದು” ಎಂದನು.
16 And Abraham hearkened to Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current [money] with the merchant.
೧೬ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿದನು. ಎಫ್ರೋನನು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದ ನಾನೂರು ನಾಣ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ವರ್ತಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಲ್ಲುವ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯಿಂದ ತೂಕ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
17 And the field of Ephron, which [was] in Machpelah, which [was] before Mamre, the field and the cave which [was] in it, and all the trees that [were] in the field, that [were] in all the borders round about, were made sure
೧೭ಹೀಗೆ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಎಫ್ರೋನನ ಭೂಮಿಯು, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಗವಿಯು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅದರ ಸುತ್ತಣ ಅಂಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದ ಮರಗಳ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ,
18 To Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that entered the gate of his city.
೧೮ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಭೂಮಿಯೆಂದು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆ ಊರಿನವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ತೀರ್ಮಾನವಾಯಿತು.
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre: the same [is] Hebron in the land of Canaan.
೧೯ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾದ ಸಾರಳ ಶವವನ್ನು ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಬ್ರೋನೆಂಬ ಮಮ್ರೆಗೆ ಎದುರಾಗಿರುವ ಮಕ್ಪೇಲದ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟನು.
20 And the field, and the cave that [is] in it were made sure to Abraham for a possession of a burying-place, by the sons of Heth.
೨೦ಹಿತ್ತಿಯರು ಆ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗವಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸ್ವಂತವಾದ ಸ್ಮಶಾನ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ದೃಢಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
