Ezekiel 38

1 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Et la parole de l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:

2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

Fils de l'homme, tourne ton visage du côté de Gog, au pays de Magog, prince de Rosch, Mésech et Thubal, et prophétise contre lui

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I [am] against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: J'en veux à toi, Gog, prince de Rosch, Mésech et Thubal.

4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thy army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts [of armor], [even] a great company [with] bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

Je te détournerai, et mettrai un anneau à tes mâchoires, et t'emmènerai, toi et toute ton armée, chevaux et cavaliers, tous vêtus magnifiquement, foule immense portant le pavois et le bouclier, tous maniant l'épée;

5 Persia, Cush, and Phut with them; all of them with shield and helmet:

Perses, Éthiopiens et Libyens, avec eux, ayant tous le bouclier et le casque;

6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: [and] many people with thee.

Gomer et tous ses bataillons, la maison de Thogarma venue du fond du nord avec tous ses bataillons, tout autant de peuples qui t'accompagnent.

7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled to thee, and be thou a guard to them.

Tiens-toi prêt et t'équipe, toi et toutes les troupes qui sont attroupées autour de toi, et sois leur général!

8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land [that is] brought back from the sword, [and is] gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall all dwell in safety.

Pendant un longtemps tu seras désiré; mais dans la suite des années tu viendras dans le pays, soustrait à l'épée, où ses habitants auront été rassemblés du milieu de peuples nombreux, sur les montagnes d'Israël longtemps désertes, dans le pays où les habitants auront été ramenés du milieu des peuples et dans lequel ils habiteront tous en sécurité.

9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

Et tu arriveras, tu fondras comme un ouragan, pareil à une nuée, pour couvrir le pays, toi et tous tes bataillons, et les peuples nombreux qui sont avec toi.

10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, [that] at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:

Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Dans ce temps-là, des pensées s'élèveront dans ton cœur, et tu formeras de funestes projets

11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

et tu diras: J'envahirai le pays ouvert, je fondrai sur ces hommes paisibles, vivant tous dans la sécurité, habitant sans murailles, et n'ayant ni verrous ni portes,

12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thy hand upon the desolate places [that are now] inhabited, and upon the people [that are] gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

pour enlever du butin, et emporter des dépouilles, pour porter ta main sur des ruines de nouveau habitées, sur un peuple recueilli du milieu des peuples, qui s'est remis au soin des troupeaux et au négoce, et habite les hauteurs du pays.

13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all its young lions, shall say to thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Séba et Dedan et les marchands de Tarsis, et tous leurs hommes puissants te diront: « Est-ce pour enlever du butin que tu arrives? pour emporter des dépouilles que tu as réuni tes troupes? pour prendre de l'argent et de l'or, des troupeaux et des biens, pour faire un grand butin? »

14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know [it]?

Aussi prophétise, fils de l'homme, et dis à Gog: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici, en ce jour-là, tandis que mon peuple d'Israël vivra en sécurité, tu l'auras vu,

15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

et tu viendras de ta demeure, du fond du nord, toi et beaucoup de peuples avec toi, tous montés sur des chevaux, troupe nombreuse, armée immense,

16 And thou shalt come against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

et tu t'avanceras contre mon peuple d'Israël comme une nuée pour couvrir le pays. Dans la suite des temps il arrivera que je t'amènerai contre mon pays, afin que les nations me reconnaissent quand je donnerai sur toi une preuve de ma sainteté sous leurs yeux, ô Gog!

17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; [Art] thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days [many] years, that I would bring thee against them?

Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Est-ce toi dont j'ai parlé aux jours d'autrefois par mes serviteurs, les prophètes d'Israël, qui dans ces temps ont prophétisé pendant des années que je t'amènerai contre eux?

18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, [that] my fury shall come up in my face.

Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, au jour que Gog fondra sur la terre d'Israël, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, que la colère me montera dans les narines.

19 For in my jealousy [and] in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel.

Et je le dis avec indignation et une ardente colère; dans ce jour il y aura un grand tremblement dans le pays d'Israël:

20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping animals that creep upon the earth, and all the men that [are] upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be overturned, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

à ma présence trembleront les poissons de la mer, et les oiseaux des Cieux, et les bêtes des champs, et tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre, et tous les hommes qui seront dans le pays; et les montagnes s'ébouleront, et les pics des rochers s'écrouleront, et toutes les murailles s'écrouleront jusqu'en terre;

21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

et contre lui sur toutes mes montagnes j'appellerai l'épée, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel; ils croiseront l'épée l'un contre l'autre,

22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that [are] with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

et j'exécuterai mes jugements sur lui par la peste et le carnage; et d'une pluie d'inondation et des pierres de la grêle, de feu et de soufre, je le couvrirai, lui et tous ses bataillons, et les peuples nombreux qui seront avec lui.

23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.

Et ainsi je manifesterai ma majesté et ma sainteté, et me révélerai aux yeux de beaucoup de nations, afin qu'elles sachent que je suis l'Éternel.
