Ecclesiastes 8
1 Who [is] as the wise [man]? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
Kinsa ba ang ingon sa manggialamong tawo? Ug kinsa ang nasayud sa hubad sa usa ka butang? Ang kaalam sa tawo nagapasidlak sa iyang nawong, ug ang kaisug sa iyang nawong nabalhin.
2 I [counsel thee] to keep the king's commandment, and [that] in regard of the oath of God.
Gitambagan ko ikaw: Bantayi ang sugo sa hari, ug kana sa pagtagad sa panumpa sa Dios.
3 Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatever pleaseth him.
Dili ka magdalidali sa paggula gikan sa iyang atubangan; ayaw pagpatuyang sa butang nga dautan: kay siya nagahimo sumala sa tanan nga nakapahimuot kaniya.
4 Where the word of a king [is], [there is] power: and who may say to him, what doest thou?
Kay ang pulong sa hari adunay gahum: ug kinsa ang moingon kaniya: Unsa ba ang imong ginabuhat?
5 He who keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
Bisan kinsa nga magatuman sa sugo dili makaila sa dautang butang: ug ang kasingkasing sa tawo nga manggialamon makasabut sa panahon ug sa hukom:
6 Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man [is] great upon him.
Kay sa tagsatagsa ka tuyo adunay usa ka panahon ug hukom; tungod kay ang kasakit sa tawo daku man kaniya.
7 For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?
Kay siya wala masayud niadtong mahitabo; kay kinsa ba ang makasugilon kaniya kong maunsa kini unya?
8 [There is] no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither [hath he] power in the day of death: and [there is] no discharge in [that] war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
Walay tawo nga may gahum sa espiritu aron sa pagpugong sa espiritu; ni may gahum siya sa pagbuot sa adlaw sa kamatayon: ug walay pagsibug sa gubat; ni ang kadautan magaluwas niadtong naanad niini.
9 All this have I seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: [there is] a time in which one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
Kining tanan nakita ko, ug gikugihan sa akong kasingkasing ang tanan nga buhat nga ginahimo ilalum sa adlaw: adunay panahon nga ang tawo adunay gahum labaw sa usa alang sa iyang kadautan.
10 And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this [is] also vanity.
Busa nakita ko ang tawong dautan nga gilubong, ug sila nangadto sa lubnganan; ug kadtong nakagbuhat sa matul-id mingpahawa sa dapit nga balaan, ug hingkalimtan didto sa ciudad: kini usab kakawangan man.
11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Tungod kay ang hukom batok sa buhat nga dautan wala man tumana sa dihadiha, busa ang kasingkasing sa mga anak nga lalake sa mga tawo nangahas aron sa pagbuhat ug dautan.
12 Though a sinner doeth evil a hundred times, and his [days] are prolonged, yet surely I know that it will be well with them that fear God, who fear before him:
Bisan pa ang makasasala nagbuhat ug dautan sa makagatus, ug nagapalugway sa iyang mga adlaw, apan sa pagkatinuod ako nasayud nga maayo kana kanila nga nahadlok sa Dios, nga nahadlok sa iyang atubangan:
13 But it will not be well with the wicked, neither will he prolong [his] days, [which are] as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
Apan dili mahitabo nga maayo kana sa dautan, ni pagapalugwayan niya ang iyang mga adlaw, nga ingon sa usa ka anino; tungod kay siya dili mahadlok sa atubangan sa Dios.
14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there are just [men], to whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked [men], to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also [is] vanity.
Adunay kakawangan nga ginahimo sa ibabaw sa yuta, nga adunay matarung nga mga tawo nga kanila mahinabo sumala sa buhat sa dautan; usab, adunay dautan nga mga tawo nga mahinabo kanila sumala sa buhat sa matarung: ako miingon nga kini usab kakawangan man.
15 Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labor the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
Unya ginadayeg ko ang pagkalipay, tungod kay ang tawo wala nay labing maayo nga butang ilalum sa adlaw, kay sa pagkaon, ug sa paginum, ug sa pagkalipay: tungod kay kini mopabilin kaniya sa iyang buhat sa tanang mga adlaw sa iyang kinabuhi nga gihatag sa Dios kaniya ilalum sa adlaw.
16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also [there is that] neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes: )
Sa diha nga gipakugihan ko sa akong kasingkasing ang pag-ila sa kaalam, ug sa pagtan-aw sa pagtigayon nga ginahimo sa ibabaw sa yuta, (kay ania usab kini siya dili makakaplag ug pagkatulog sa adlaw ni sa gabii),
17 Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man may labor to seek [it] out, yet he shall not find [it]; yes further; though a wise [man] thinketh to know [it], yet shall he not be able to find [it].
Nan natan-aw ko ang tanan nga buhat sa Dios, nga sa tawo dili matukib ang buhat nga nahimo ilalum sa adlaw: tungod kay bisan unsaon sa tawo ang pagsusi niini, apan dili siya makatugkad niini; oo, labut pa, bisan ang tawo nga manggialamon magahunahuna sa pagtugkad niini, apan dili gayud siya makahimo sa pagtugkad niini.
