Ecclesiastes 2
1 I said in my heart, Come now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and behold, this also [is] vanity.
௧நான் என்னுடைய உள்ளத்திலே சொல்லிக்கொண்டது என்னவென்றால்: வா, இப்பொழுது உன்னைச் சந்தோஷத்தினாலே சோதித்துப்பார்ப்பேன், இன்பத்தை அனுபவி என்றேன்; இதோ, இதுவும் மாயையாக இருந்தது.
2 I said of laughter, [It is] mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?
௨சிரிப்பைக்குறித்து, அது பைத்தியம் என்றும், சந்தோஷத்தைக்குறித்து, அது என்ன செய்யும்? என்றும் சொன்னேன்.
3 I sought in my heart, to give myself to wine, yet acquainting my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what [was] that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life.
௩வானத்தின்கீழ் மனுமக்கள் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாட்களெல்லாம் பெற்று அனுபவிக்கத்தக்கது இன்னதென்று அறியும்வரை, என்னுடைய இருதயத்தை ஞானத்தால் தேற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போதே, நான் என்னுடைய உடலை மதுபானத்தால் சீராட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கவும், மதியீனத்தைப் பற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்கவும் என்னுடைய உள்ளத்தில் வகைதேடினேன்.
4 I made me great works; I built me houses; I planted me vineyards:
௪நான் பெரிய வேலைகளைச் செய்தேன்; எனக்காக வீடுகளைக் கட்டினேன், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களை உண்டாக்கினேன்.
5 I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all [kind of] fruits:
௫எனக்காகத் தோட்டங்களையும் சிங்காரவனங்களையும் உண்டாக்கி, அவைகளில் எல்லாவகைக் கனிமரங்களையும் உண்டாக்கினேன்.
6 I made me pools of water, to water with them the wood that bringeth forth trees:
௬மரங்கள் பயிராகும் தோப்பிற்கு நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சுவதற்குக் குளங்களை உண்டாக்கினேன்.
7 I procured [me] servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:
௭வேலைக்காரர்களையும் வேலைக்காரிகளையும் சம்பாதித்தேன்; வீட்டிலும் வேலைக்காரர்கள் பிறந்தார்கள்; எனக்குமுன்பு எருசலேமிலிருந்த எல்லோரையும்விட ஆடுமாடு முதலான திரண்ட சொத்துகள் எனக்கு இருந்தது.
8 I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings, and of the provinces: I procured me men-singers and women-singers, and the delights of the sons of men, [as] musical instruments, and of all sorts.
௮வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும், ராஜபொக்கிஷங்களையும் மாகாணங்களிலுள்ள பொருள்களையும் சேகரித்தேன்; சங்கீதக்காரர்களையும் சங்கீதக்காரிகளையும், மனுமக்களுக்கு இன்பமான பலவித சம்பாதித்தேன்.
9 So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me.
௯எனக்குமுன்பு எருசலேமிலிருந்த எல்லோரையும்விட நான் பெரியவனும் செல்வம் நிறைந்தவனுமானேன்; என்னுடைய ஞானமும் என்னோடுகூட இருந்தது.
10 And whatever my eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my portion of all my labor.
௧0என்னுடைய கண்கள் விரும்பிய ஒன்றையும் நான் அவைகளுக்குத் தடை செய்யவில்லை; என்னுடைய இருதயத்திற்கு ஒரு சந்தோஷத்தையும் நான் வேண்டாமென்று விலக்கவில்லை; நான் செய்த முயற்சிகளிலெல்லாம் என்னுடைய மனம் மகிழ்ச்சிகொண்டிருந்தது; இதுவே என்னுடைய பிரயாசங்கள் எல்லாவற்றினாலும் எனக்கு வந்த பலன்.
11 Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and behold, all [was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and [there was] no profit under the sun.
௧௧என்னுடைய கைகள் செய்த எல்லா வேலைகளையும், நான் பட்ட எல்லாப் பிரயாசத்தையும் கண்ணோக்கிப் பார்த்தேன்; இதோ, எல்லாம் மாயையும், மனதிற்கு கலக்கமாகவும் இருந்தது; சூரியனுக்குக் கீழே பலன் ஒன்றுமில்லை.
12 And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what [can] the man [do] that cometh after the king? [even] that which hath been already done.
௧௨பின்பு நான், ஞானமானது என்ன என்றும், பைத்தியமும் மதியீனமும் என்ன என்றும் பார்த்து அறியும்படி திரும்பினேன்; ராஜாவுக்குப் பின்வரும் மனிதன் என்ன செய்யமுடியும்? செய்ததையே செய்வான்.
13 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.
௧௩இருளைவிட வெளிச்சம் எவ்வளவு உத்தமமோ, அவ்வளவாக மதியீனத்தைவிட ஞானம் உத்தமமென்று கண்டேன்.
14 The wise man's eyes [are] in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all.
௧௪ஞானியின் கண்கள் அவனுடைய முகத்திலே இருக்கிறது; மூடனோ இருளிலே நடக்கிறான்; ஆகிலும் அவர்களெல்லோருக்கும் ஒரே விதமாக நடக்கிறது என்று கண்டேன்.
15 Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also [is] vanity.
௧௫மூடனுக்கு நடக்கிறதுபோல எனக்கும் நடக்கிறதே; அப்படியிருக்க நான் அதிக ஞானமடைந்ததினால் பயனென்ன என்று சிந்தித்தேன்; இதுவும் மாயை என்று என்னுடைய உள்ளத்தில் நினைத்தேன்.
16 For [there is] no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now [is] in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise [man]? as the fool.
௧௬மூடன் என்றாலும் ஞானியென்றாலும் என்றைக்கும் நினைவில் இருப்பதில்லை; இப்பொழுது இருக்கிறதெல்லாம் வருங்காலத்தில் மறக்கப்பட்டுப்போகும்; மூடன் எப்படி சாகிறானோ அப்படியே ஞானியும் சாகிறான்.
17 Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun [is] grievous to me: for all [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.
௧௭ஆகையால் இந்த ஜீவனை வெறுத்தேன்; சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே செய்யப்படும் செயல்களெல்லாம் எனக்கு வருத்தமாக இருந்தது; எல்லாம் மாயையும், மனதிற்கு கலக்கமாகவும் இருக்கிறது.
18 Yes, I hated all my labor which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it to the man that shall be after me.
௧௮சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே நான் பட்ட பிரயாசத்தையெல்லாம் வெறுத்தேன்; எனக்குப் பின்வரப்போகிறவனுக்கு அதை நான் வைத்துப்போகவேண்டியதாகுமே.
19 And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise [man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have showed myself wise under the sun. This [is] also vanity.
௧௯அவன் புத்திமானாக இருப்பானோ, மூடனாக இருப்பானோ, அதை யார் அறிவார்? ஆகிலும் சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே நான் உழைத்து ஞானமாகச் சம்பாதித்த எல்லா பொருட்களின்பேரிலும் அவன் அதிகாரியாவான்; இதுவும் மாயையே.
20 Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labor which I took under the sun.
௨0ஆகையால் சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே நான் செய்த எல்லா பிரயாசத்தின் மேலுமுள்ள ஆசையை விட்டுவிட வகைத்தேடினேன்.
21 For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not labored in it, shall he leave it [for] his portion. This also [is] vanity and a great evil.
௨௧ஒருவன் புத்தி, அறிவுக்கூர்மை, நிதானத்தோடு பிரயாசப்படுகிறான்; ஆனாலும் அப்படி பிரயாசப்படாதிருந்த வேறொருவனுக்கு அவன் அதைச் சொந்தமாக விட்டுவிடவேண்டியதாகும்; இதுவும் மாயையும் பெரிய தீங்குமாகவும் இருக்கிறது.
22 For what hath man of all his labor, and of the vexation of his heart, in which he hath labored under the sun?
௨௨மனிதன் சூரியனுக்குக்கீழே படுகிற எல்லா பிரயாசத்தினாலும் அவனுடைய இருதயத்தின் எண்ணங்களினாலும் அவனுக்குப் பலன் என்ன?
23 For all his days [are] sorrows, and his labor grief; yes, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity.
௨௩அவனுடைய நாட்களெல்லாம் அலுப்புள்ளது, அவனுடைய வேலைகள் வருத்தமுள்ளது; இரவிலும் அவனுடைய மனதிற்கு இளைப்பாறுதல் இல்லை; இதுவும் மாயையே.
24 [There is] nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and [that] he should make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it [was] from the hand of God.
௨௪மனிதன் சாப்பிட்டுக் குடித்து, தன்னுடைய பிரயாசத்தின் பலனை அனுபவிப்பதைவிட, அவனுக்கு ஒரு நன்மையும் இல்லை; இதுவும் தேவனுடைய கரத்திலிருந்து வருகிறது என்று நான் கண்டேன்.
25 For who can eat, or who else can hasten [to it] more than I?
௨௫அவனைவிட நிறைவாக சாப்பிடக்கூடியவன் யார்? அவனைவிட விரைவாகச் சம்பாதிக்ககூடியவன் யார்?
26 For [God] giveth to a man who [is] good in his sight, wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth toil, to gather, and to amass, that he may give to [him that is] good before God. This also [is] vanity and vexation of spirit.
௨௬தேவன் தமது பார்வைக்கு நல்லவனாக இருக்கிறவனுக்கு ஞானத்தையும் அறிவையும் இன்பத்தையும் அளிக்கிறார்; பாவம்செய்கிறவனுக்கோ தமது பார்வைக்கு நல்லவனாக இருக்கிறவனிடம் வைத்துவிட்டுப் போகும்படியாகச் சேர்த்துக் குவித்துவைக்கும் தொல்லையை அவர் நியமித்திருக்கிறார்; இதுவும் மாயையும், மனதிற்கு கலக்கமாகவும் இருக்கிறது.
