Deuteronomy 21
1 If [one] shall be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, [and] it be not known who hath slain him:
Se alguém for encontrado morto na terra que Yahweh seu Deus lhe dá para possuir, deitado no campo, e não se souber quem o atingiu,
2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure to the cities which [are] around him that is slain:
então seus anciãos e seus juízes sairão, e medirão as cidades que estão ao redor dele que foi morto.
3 And it shall be [that] the city [which is] next to the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take a heifer which hath not been wrought with, [and] which hath not drawn in the yoke;
Será que os anciãos da cidade mais próxima do morto tomarão uma novilha do rebanho, que não tenha sido trabalhada e que não tenha sido puxada no jugo.
4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer to a rough valley, which is neither tilled nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley;
Os anciãos daquela cidade levarão a novilha para um vale com água corrente, que não é lavrado nem semeado, e quebrarão o pescoço da novilha lá no vale.
5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near (for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister to him, and to bless in the name of the LORD) and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be [tried];
Os sacerdotes filhos de Levi se aproximarão, para eles Yahweh seu Deus escolheu ministrar a ele, e abençoar em nome de Yahweh; e de acordo com sua palavra, toda controvérsia e todo assalto será decidido.
6 And all the elders of that city [that are] next to the slain [man], shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:
Todos os anciãos daquela cidade mais próxima do homem morto lavarão as mãos sobre a novilha cujo pescoço foi quebrado no vale.
7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen [it].
Eles responderão e dirão: “Nossas mãos não derramaram este sangue, nem nossos olhos o viram”.
8 Be merciful, O LORD, to thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood to the charge of thy people Israel. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
Perdoe, Javé, seu povo Israel, a quem você resgatou, e não permita sangue inocente entre seu povo Israel”. O sangue lhes será perdoado”.
9 So shalt thou remove the [guilt of] innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do [that which is] right in the sight of the LORD.
Então, quando fizerdes o que é justo aos olhos de Iavé, afasteis o sangue inocente do meio de vós.
10 When thou goest forth to war against thy enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thy hands, and thou hast taken them captive,
Quando você sair para lutar contra seus inimigos, e Yahweh seu Deus os entregar em suas mãos e os levar cativos,
11 And [thou] seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire to her, that thou wouldest have her for thy wife:
e ver entre os cativos uma bela mulher, e você se sentir atraído por ela, e desejar levá-la como sua esposa,
12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thy house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails:
então você a trará para sua casa. Ela rapará a cabeça e aparará as unhas.
13 And she shall put off from her the raiment of her captivity, and shall remain in thy house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that, thou shalt go in to her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
Ela tirará as roupas de seu cativeiro, e permanecerá em sua casa, e chorará o pai e a mãe dela um mês inteiro. Depois disso, você irá até ela e será seu marido, e ela será sua esposa.
14 And it shall be, if thou shalt have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money; thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
Será, se não tiverdes prazer nela, então a deixareis ir onde ela desejar; mas não a vendereis de modo algum por dinheiro. Não negociareis com ela como escrava, porque a tendes humilhado.
15 If a man shall have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have borne him children, [both] the beloved and the hated; and [if] the first-born son be hers that was hated:
Se um homem tem duas esposas, uma amada e outra odiada, e elas lhe deram filhos, tanto a amada como a odiada, e se o filho primogênito é dela que foi odiado,
16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit [that] which he hath, [that] he may not prefer the son of the beloved first-born, before the son of the hated, [which is indeed] the first-born:
então será, no dia em que ele fizer herdar seus filhos o que ele tem, que ele não poderá dar ao filho da amada os direitos do primogênito antes do filho da odiada, que é o primogênito;
17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated [for] the first-born, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he [is] the beginning of his strength; the right of the first-born [is] his.
mas ele deve reconhecer o primogênito, o filho do odiado, dando-lhe uma porção dupla de tudo o que ele tem; pois ele é o começo de sua força. O direito do primogênito é dele.
18 If a man shall have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and [who], when they have chastened him, will not hearken to them:
Se um homem tem um filho teimoso e rebelde que não obedecerá à voz de seu pai ou à voz de sua mãe, e embora o castiguem, não os ouvirá,
19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place;
então seu pai e sua mãe se apoderarão dele e o levarão aos anciãos de sua cidade e ao portão de seu lugar.
20 And they shall say to the elders of his city, This our son [is] stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; [he is] a glutton, and a drunkard.
Eles dirão aos anciãos de sua cidade: “Este nosso filho é teimoso e rebelde”. Ele não obedecerá à nossa voz”. Ele é um glutão e um bêbado”.
21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he may die: so shalt thou remove evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
Todos os homens de sua cidade o apedrejarão até a morte. Por isso, removerão o mal do meio de vocês. Todo Israel ouvirá, e temerá.
22 And if a man shall have committed a sin worthy of death, and he must be put to death, and thou shalt hang him on a tree:
Se um homem cometeu um pecado digno de morte, e é morto, e você o enforca numa árvore,
23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged [is] accursed of God; ) that thy land may not be defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance.
seu corpo não ficará toda a noite na árvore, mas certamente o enterrará no mesmo dia; pois aquele que é enforcado é amaldiçoado por Deus. Não contamine sua terra que Yahweh seu Deus lhe dá por herança.
