< Amos 4 >
1 Hear this word, ye heifers of Bashan, that [are] in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
Fanongo ki he lea, ʻakimoutolu ko e fanga pulu ʻa Pesani, ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga ʻo Samēlia, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku fakamālohiʻi ʻae masiva, pea ʻoku taʻomia ai ʻae paea, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku mou pehē ki honau ngaahi ʻeiki, “ʻOmi, ka mau inu.”
2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fish-hooks,
Kuo fuakava ki heʻene māʻoniʻoni ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻo pehē, “Vakai, ʻe hoko ʻae ngaahi ʻaho kiate kimoutolu ʻaia ʻe ʻave kimoutolu ʻaki ʻae ngaahi mātaʻu, pea mo homou hako ʻaki ʻae mātaʻu ika.
3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every [cow at that which is] before her; and ye shall cast [them] into the palace, saith the LORD.
Pea te mou ʻalu kituʻa ʻi he ngaahi ava, ʻae fanga pulu kotoa pē ki he meʻa ʻoku ʻi hono ʻao, pea te mou lī ʻakinautolu ki he fale fakaʻeiʻeiki,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
4 Come to Beth-el and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, [and] your tithes after three years:
“Haʻu ki Peteli, pea fai hala; ki Kilikali, pea fakalahi ʻae talangataʻa; pea ʻomi hoʻomou ngaahi feilaulau ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, mo hoʻomou fatongia lotu hili ʻae taʻu ʻe tolu;
5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim [and] publish the free-offerings: for this pleaseth you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Pea hifo ʻaki ʻae feilaulau fakafetaʻi mo e meʻa fakatapu, pea malangaʻaki mo fakahā ʻae ngaahi hifo mataʻataʻatā: he ʻoku mou manako ai, ʻe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Pea naʻaku tuku ʻae nifo maʻa kiate kimoutolu ʻi homou ngaahi kolo kotoa pē, pea mo e masiva mā ʻi homou ngaahi potu kotoa pē: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tafoki kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
7 And also I have withheld the rain from you, when [there were] yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece on which it rained not withered.
“Pea naʻaku taʻofi foki ʻae ʻuha meiate kimoutolu, ʻi he kei toe ʻae māhina ʻe tolu ki he ututaʻu: pea naʻaku pehē ke ʻuha ki he kolo ʻe taha, kae ʻikai ke ʻuha ki he kolo ʻe taha: naʻe ʻuha ki he potu ʻe taha, pea ko e potu naʻe ʻikai ke ʻuha ki ai ne mae ia.
8 So two [or] three cities wandered to one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
Pea naʻe fononga ʻae kolo ʻe ua pe tolu ki he kolo ʻe taha, ke inu vai; ka naʻe ʻikai te nau fiu: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tafoki kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig-trees and your olive-trees increased, the palmer-worm devoured [them]: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Kuo taaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻaki ʻae mae mo e mahunu: ʻi he tupu ʻa hoʻomou ngoue, mo e ngoue vaine, mo e ʻakau ko e fiki mo e ʻolive, naʻe kai ia ʻe he ʻunufe maumau: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tafoki kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the ill savor of your camps to come up to your nostrils: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Kuo fekau kiate kimoutolu ʻae mahaki lahi ʻo hangē ko ʻIsipite: kuo tāmateʻi hoʻomou kau talavou ʻaki ʻae heletā, pea kuo ʻave hoʻomou fanga hoosi: pea kuo u ngaohi ke hoko ʻae namukū ʻoe nofoʻanga ʻo homou kau tau ki homou avaʻi ihu: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tafoki kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
11 I have overthrown [some] of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a fire-brand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Kuo u fulihi hoʻomou niʻihi, hangē naʻe fulihi ʻe he ʻOtua ʻa Sotoma mo Komola, pea naʻa mou hangē ko e potupotuʻi afi kuo hamusi mei he vela: ka naʻe ʻikai te mou tafoki kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
12 Therefore thus will I do to thee, O Israel: [and] because I will do this to thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
“Ko ia, ʻe pehē pe ʻa ʻeku fai kiate koe, ʻe ʻIsileli: pea koeʻuhi te u fai eni kiate koe, teuteu ke feʻiloaki mo ho ʻOtua, ʻe ʻIsileli.
13 For lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth to man what [is] his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, [is] his name.
Koeʻuhi, vakai, ko ia ia naʻe ngaohi ʻae ngaahi moʻunga, pea ne fakatupu ʻae matangi, pea ʻoku ne fakahā ki he tangata pe ko e hā ʻene mahalo, ʻoku ne ngaohi ʻae pongipongi ko e poʻuli, pea ʻoku ne malaki ʻae ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻo māmani, Ko Sihova, ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻa hono huafa.”
