Amos 4
1 Hear this word, ye heifers of Bashan, that [are] in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.
Ouçam esta palavra, vacas de Bashan, que estão na montanha de Samaria, que oprimem os pobres, que esmagam os necessitados, que dizem a seus maridos: “Tragam-nos bebidas”!
2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fish-hooks,
O Senhor Yahweh jurou por sua santidade, “Eis que chegarão os dias em que te levarão com ganchos”, e o último de vocês com anzóis de peixe.
3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every [cow at that which is] before her; and ye shall cast [them] into the palace, saith the LORD.
You sairá nos intervalos da parede, todos diretamente diante dela; e vocês se lançarão em Harmon”, diz Yahweh.
4 Come to Beth-el and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, [and] your tithes after three years:
“Vá para Betel, e peca; a Gilgal, e pecar mais. Traga seus sacrifícios todas as manhãs, seu dízimo a cada três dias,
5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim [and] publish the free-offerings: for this pleaseth you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
oferecer um sacrifício de ação de graças do que é fermentado, e proclamar ofertas de livre vontade e se vangloriar sobre elas; pois isto vos agrada, filhos de Israel”, diz o Senhor Yahweh.
6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Eu também lhe dei limpeza de dentes em todas as suas cidades, e falta de pão em todas as cidades; mas você não voltou para mim”, diz Yahweh.
7 And also I have withheld the rain from you, when [there were] yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece on which it rained not withered.
“Eu também retive a chuva de vocês, quando ainda havia três meses para a colheita; e eu causei chuva em uma cidade, e não causou a chuva em outra cidade. Um campo foi chovido, e o campo onde não choveu murchou.
8 So two [or] three cities wandered to one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
Assim, duas ou três cidades cambalearam para uma cidade para beber água, e não estavam satisfeitos; mas você não voltou para mim”, diz Yahweh.
9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig-trees and your olive-trees increased, the palmer-worm devoured [them]: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Eu o atingi com ferrugem e mofo muitas vezes em seus jardins e em seus vinhedos, e os gafanhotos que enxaguam devoraram suas figueiras e suas oliveiras; mas você não voltou para mim”, diz Yahweh.
10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the ill savor of your camps to come up to your nostrils: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Eu enviei pragas entre vocês como fiz no Egito. Eu matei seus jovens com a espada, e levaram seus cavalos. Eu enchi suas narinas com o fedor do seu acampamento, mas você não voltou para mim”, diz Yahweh.
11 I have overthrown [some] of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a fire-brand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned to me, saith the LORD.
“Eu derrubei alguns de vocês, como quando Deus derrubou Sodoma e Gomorra, e você era como um pau em chamas arrancado do fogo; mas você não voltou para mim”, diz Yahweh.
12 Therefore thus will I do to thee, O Israel: [and] because I will do this to thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.
“Portanto, farei isto com você, Israel; porque eu vou fazer isso com você, prepare-se para encontrar seu Deus, Israel.
13 For lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth to man what [is] his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, [is] his name.
Pois, eis que aquele que forma as montanhas, cria o vento, declara ao homem o que é seu pensamento, que faz a escuridão matinal, e pisa nos lugares altos da terra: Yahweh, o Deus dos Exércitos, é seu nome”.
