Acts 23
1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men, brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
௧பவுல் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தினரை உற்றுப்பார்த்து: சகோதரர்களே, இந்தநாள்வரை எல்லா விஷயங்களிலும் நான் நல்மனச்சாட்சியோடு தேவனுக்குமுன்பாக நடந்துவந்தேன் என்று சொன்னான்.
2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him, to strike him on the mouth.
௨அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய அனனியா அவனுக்கு அருகில் நின்றவர்களைப் பார்த்து: இவன் வாயில் அடியுங்கள் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.
3 Then said Paul to him, God shall smite thee, [thou] whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
௩அப்பொழுது பவுல் அவனைப் பார்த்து: வெள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட சுவரே, தேவன் உம்மை அடிப்பார்; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி என்னை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிற நீர் நியாயபிரமாணத்திற்கு விரோதமாக என்னை அடிக்கச்சொல்லலாமா என்றான்.
4 And they that stood by, said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
௪அருகில் நின்றவர்கள்: தேவனுடைய பிரதான ஆசாரியரை அவமதித்துப் பேசலாமா என்றார்கள்.
5 Then said Paul, I knew not, brethren, that he is the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
௫அதற்குப் பவுல்: சகோதரர்களே, இவர் பிரதான ஆசாரியரென்று எனக்குத் தெரியாது; உன் மக்களின் தலைவரை குற்றம் சொல்லாதே” என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதே என்றான்.
6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
௬பின்பு அவர்களில், சதுசேயர்கள் ஒரு பகுதியும் பரிசேயர்கள் ஒரு பகுதியுமாக இருக்கிறார்களென்று பவுல் அறிந்து: சகோதரர்களே, நான் பரிசேயனும் பரிசேயனுடைய மகனுமாக இருக்கிறேன். மரித்தவர்களுடைய உயிர்த்தெழுதலைப்பற்றிய நம்பிக்கையைக்குறித்து நான் நியாயம் விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறேன் என்று ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்திலே சத்தமிட்டுச் சொன்னான்.
7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
௭அவன் இப்படிச் சொன்னபோது, பரிசேயர்களுக்கும் சதுசேயர்களுக்கும் வாக்குவாதமுண்டாகி; கூட்டம் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்தது.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
௮ஏனென்றால், சதுசேயர்கள் உயிர்த்தெழுதல் இல்லையென்றும், தேவதூதனும் ஆவியும் இல்லையென்றும் சொல்லுகிறார்கள். பரிசேயர்களோ அவ்விரண்டும் உண்டென்று ஒப்புக்கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.
9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes [that were] of the Pharisees' part arose, and contended, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
௯இதனாலே மிகுந்த இரைச்சல் உண்டானது. பரிசேய சமயத்தாரான வேதபண்டிதர்களில் சிலர் எழுந்து: இந்த மனிதனிடத்தில் ஒரு தவறையும் காணவில்லை; ஒரு ஆவி அல்லது ஒரு தேவதூதன் இவனுடனே பேசினதுண்டானால், நாம் தேவனுடனே சண்டையிடுவது தகாது என்று வாதாடினார்கள்.
10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul would have been pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring [him] into the castle.
௧0அதிகமாக கலவரம் உண்டானபோது, பவுல் அவர்களால் பீறுண்டுபோவானென்று ரோம அதிபதி பயந்து, போர்வீரர்கள்போய், அவனை அவர்கள் நடுவிலிருந்து அகற்றி கோட்டைக்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான்.
11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified concerning me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear testimony also at Rome.
௧௧அன்று இரவிலே கர்த்தர் பவுலின் அருகே நின்று: பவுலே, தைரியமாக இரு; நீ என்னைக்குறித்து எருசலேமிலே சாட்சிகொடுத்ததுபோல ரோமாவிலும் சாட்சி கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்.
12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying, that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
௧௨விடியற்காலமானபோது, யூதர்களில் சிலர் கூடி, தாங்கள் பவுலைக் கொலைசெய்யும்வரைக்கும் புசிப்பதும் குடிப்பதுமில்லையென்று சபதம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டார்கள்.
13 And they were more than forty who had made this conspiracy.
௧௩இப்படிச் சபதம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டவர்கள் நாற்பதுபேருக்கு அதிகமாக இருந்தார்கள்.
14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
௧௪அவர்கள் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களிடத்திலும் மூப்பர்களிடத்திலும்போய்: நாங்கள் பவுலைக் கொலைசெய்யும்வரைக்கும் ஒன்றும் புசிப்பதில்லையென்று உறுதியான சபதம் செய்துகொண்டோம்.
15 Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain, that he bring him down to you to-morrow, as though ye would inquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, before he shall come near, are ready to kill him.
௧௫ஆகவே, நீங்கள் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தினரோடு கூடப்போய், அவனுடைய காரியத்தை மிக சரியாக விசாரிக்க விருப்பமுள்ளவர்கள்போல ரோம அதிபதிக்குக் காண்பித்து, அவர் நாளைக்கு அவனை உங்களிடம் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவரும்படி அவரிடத்தில் கேட்பீர்களாக. அவன் அருகில் வருகிறதற்குள்ளே நாங்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்ய ஆயத்தமாக இருப்போம் என்றார்கள்.
16 And when the son of Paul's sister heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
௧௬இந்த சதித்திட்டத்தை பவுலினுடைய சகோதரியின் மகன் கேள்விப்பட்டு, கோட்டைக்குள்ளேபோய், பவுலுக்குத் தெரிவித்தான்.
17 Then Paul called one of the centurions to [him], and said, Bring this young man to the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
௧௭அப்பொழுது பவுல் நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதிகளில் ஒருவனை அழைத்து, இந்த வாலிபனை ரோம அதிபதியினிடத்திற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோம்; அவரிடத்தில் இவன் சொல்லவேண்டிய ஒரு செய்தி உண்டு என்றான்.
18 So he took him, and brought [him] to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me to [him], and prayed me to bring this young man to thee, who hath something to say to thee.
௧௮அப்படியே அவன் இவனை ரோம அதிபதியினிடத்திற்குக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய்: காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற பவுல் என்னை அழைத்து, உமக்கொரு செய்தியைச் சொல்லவேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிற இந்த வாலிபனை உம்மிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோகும்படி என்னைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டான் என்றான்.
19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went [with him] aside privately, and asked [him], What is that thou hast to tell me?
௧௯அப்பொழுது ரோம அதிபதி அவனுடைய கையைப்பிடித்துத் தனியே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய்: நீ என்னிடத்தில் சொல்லவேண்டிய செய்தி என்ன? என்று கேட்டான்.
20 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee, that thou wouldst bring down Paul to-morrow into the council, as though they would inquire somewhat concerning him more perfectly.
௨0அதற்கு அவன்: யூதர்கள் பவுலின் காரியத்தை மிகச் சரியாக விசாரிக்க விருப்பமுள்ளவர்கள்போல, நீர் நாளைக்கு அவனை ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்தினரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவரும்படி உம்மை வேண்டிக்கொள்ள தீர்மானித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
21 But do not thou yield to them: for there are of them who lie in wait for him more than forty men, who have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now they are ready, looking for a promise from thee.
௨௧நீர் அவர்களுக்குச் சம்மதிக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர்களில் நாற்பதுபேருக்கு அதிகமானவர்கள் அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யும்வரைக்கும் தாங்கள் உண்பதும் குடிப்பதுமில்லையென்று சபதம்செய்துகொண்டு, உம்முடைய உத்தரவுக்காக இப்பொழுது காத்துக்கொண்டு ஆயத்தமாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றான்.
22 So the chief captain [then] let the young man depart, and charged [him], [See thou] tell no man that thou hast shown these things to me.
௨௨அப்பொழுது ரோம அதிபதி: நீ இவைகளை எனக்குத் தெரிவித்ததாக ஒருவருக்கும் சொல்லாதே என்று கட்டளையிட்டு, வாலிபனை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.
23 And he called to [him] two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Cesarea, and seventy horsemen, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
௨௩பின்பு அவன் நூற்றுக்கு அதிபதிகளில் இரண்டுபேரை அழைத்து, செசரியா பட்டணத்திற்குப் போகும்படி இருநூறு காலாட்களையும், எழுபது குதிரை வீரரையும், இருநூறு ஈட்டிக்காரர்களையும், இரவில் மூன்று மணியளவிலே, ஆயத்தம் செய்யுங்கள் என்றும்;
24 And provide [for them] beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring [him] safe to Felix the governor.
௨௪பவுலை ஏற்றி, தேசாதிபதியாகிய பேலிக்ஸினிடத்திற்குப் பத்திரமாகக் கொண்டுபோகும்படிக்கு குதிரைகளை ஆயத்தப்படுத்துங்களென்றும் சொன்னதுமன்றி,
25 And he wrote a letter after this manner:
௨௫ஒரு கடிதத்தையும் எழுதினான்; அதின் விபரமாவது:
26 Claudius Lysias, to the most excellent governor Felix, [sendeth] greeting.
௨௬கனம்பொருந்திய தேசாதிபதியாகிய பேலிக்ஸ் என்பவருக்குக் கிலவுதியுலீசியா வாழ்த்துதல் சொல்லி தெரிவிப்பது என்னவென்றால்:
27 This man was taken by the Jews, and would have been killed by them: then I came with a body of soldiers, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
௨௭இந்த மனிதனை யூதர்கள் பிடித்துக் கொலைசெய்யப்போகிற நேரத்தில், நான் போர்வீரர்களோடு கூடப்போய், இவன் ரோமனென்று அறிந்து, இவனை விடுவித்தேன்.
28 And when I would have known the cause for which they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:
௨௮அவர்கள் இவன்மேல் சாட்டின குற்றத்தை நான் அறியவேண்டுமென்று இவனை அவர்கள் ஆலோசனைச் சங்கத்திற்குமுன் கொண்டுபோனேன்.
29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death, or of bonds.
௨௯இவன் அவர்களுடைய வேதத்திற்கு அடுத்த காரியங்களைக்குறித்துக் குற்றஞ்சாட்டப்பட்டவனென்று அறிந்ததேயல்லாமல், மரணத்திற்காவது கைதுசெய்வதற்காவது ஏற்ற குற்றம் இவனிடத்தில் இல்லையென்று கண்டறிந்தேன்.
30 And when it was told to me that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent forthwith to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also, to say before thee what [they had] against him. Farewell.
௩0யூதர்கள் இவனுக்கு விரோதமாக சதியோசனை செய்கிறார்களென்று எனக்குத் தெரியவந்தபோது, உடனே இவனை உம்மிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பினேன்; குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகிறவர்களும் இவனுக்கு விரோதமாகச் சொல்லுகிற காரியங்களை உமக்கு முன்பாக வந்து சொல்லும்படி அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டேன். சுகமாக இருப்பீராக என்றெழுதினான்.
31 Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought [him] by night to Antipatris.
௩௧போர்வீரர்கள் தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, பவுலை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு, இரவிலே அந்திப்பத்திரி ஊருக்குப்போய்,
32 On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:
௩௨அடுத்தநாளில் குதிரைவீரர்களை அவனுடனேகூடப் போகும்படி அனுப்பிவிட்டு, தாங்கள் கோட்டைக்குத் திரும்பினார்கள்.
33 Who, when they came to Cesarea, and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.
௩௩அவர்கள் செசரியா பட்டணத்தை அடைந்து, கடிதத்தை தேசாதிபதியினிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, பவுலையும் அவன் முன்பாக நிறுத்தினார்கள்.
34 And when the governor had read [the letter], he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that [he was] of Cilicia,
௩௪தேசாதிபதி அதை வாசித்து: எந்த நாட்டானென்று கேட்டு, சிலிசியா நாட்டானென்று அறிந்தபோது:
35 I will hear thee, said he, when thy accusers also have come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod's judgment-hall.
௩௫உன்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டுகிறவர்களும் வரும்போது உன் காரியத்தைத் திட்டமாகக் கேட்பேன் என்று சொல்லி, ஏரோதின் அரண்மனையிலே அவனைக் காவல்பண்ணும்படி ஆணையிட்டான்.
