< 2 Timothy 2 >
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Nítorí náà ìwọ ọmọ mi, jẹ́ alágbára nínú oore-ọ̀fẹ́ ti ń bẹ nínú Kristi Jesu.
2 And the things that thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Àwọn ohun ti ìwọ ti gbọ́ lọ́dọ̀ mi níwájú ẹlẹ́rìí púpọ̀, àwọn náà ni kí ìwọ fi lé àwọn olóòtítọ́ ènìyàn lọ́wọ́, àwọn ti yóò lè máa kọ́ àwọn ẹlòmíràn pẹ̀lú.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Ṣe alábápín pẹ̀lú mi nínú ìpọ́njú, bí ọmọ-ogun rere Jesu Kristi.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of [this] life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Kò sí ẹni tí ń jagun ti ń fi ohun ayé yìí dí ara rẹ̀ lọ́wọ́, kí ó lè mú inú ẹni tí ó yàn ni ọmọ-ogun dùn.
5 And if a man also striveth for masteries, [yet] is he not crowned, except he striveth lawfully.
Ní ọ̀nà kan náà, bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá sì ń díje bí olùdíje, a kì í dé e ládé, bí kò ṣe bí ó bá parí rẹ̀ gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìlànà
6 The husbandman that laboreth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Àgbẹ̀ ti ó ń ṣe làálàá ni ó yẹ láti kọ́kọ́ mu nínú àwọn èso.
7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Ronú lórí ohun ti èmi ń sọ; nítorí Olúwa yóò fún ọ lóye nínú ohun gbogbo.
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Rántí Jesu Kristi, ti ó jíǹde kúrò nínú òkú, láti inú irú-ọmọ Dafidi gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìyìnrere mi.
9 In which I suffer trouble, as an evil-doer, [even] to bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
Nínú èyí tí èmi ń rí ìpọ́njú títí dé inú ìdè bí arúfin; ṣùgbọ́n a kò de ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (aiōnios )
Nítorí náà mo ń faradà ohun gbogbo nítorí àwọn àyànfẹ́; kí àwọn náà pẹ̀lú lè ní ìgbàlà tí ń bẹ nínú Kristi Jesu pẹ̀lú ògo ayérayé. (aiōnios )
11 [It is] a faithful saying: For if we are dead with [him], we shall also live with [him]:
Òtítọ́ ni ọ̀rọ̀ náà, bi àwa bá bá a kú, àwa yóò yè pẹ̀lú rẹ̀.
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us:
Bí àwa bá faradà, àwa ó sì bá a jẹ ọba. Bí àwa bá sẹ́ ẹ, òun náà yóò sì sẹ́ wa.
13 If we believe not, [yet] he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Bí àwa kò bá gbàgbọ́, òun dúró ni olóòtítọ́, nítorí òun kò lè sẹ́ ara rẹ̀.
14 Of these things put [them] in remembrance, charging [them] before the Lord that they contend not about words to no profit, [but] to the subverting of the hearers.
Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni ki ó máa rán wọn létí. Máa kìlọ̀ fún wọn níwájú Olúwa pé, ki wọn ó yẹra kúrò nínú jíjiyàn ọ̀rọ̀ tí kò léèrè, bí kò ṣe ìparun fún àwọn tí ń gbọ́.
15 Study to show thyself approved to God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Ṣaápọn láti fi ara rẹ̀ hàn níwájú Ọlọ́run bi ẹni tí ó yege àti òṣìṣẹ́ tí kò ní láti tijú, tí ó ń pín ọ̀rọ̀ òtítọ́ bí ó ti yẹ.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase to more ungodliness.
Yà kúrò nínú ọ̀rọ̀ asán, nítorí tiwọn máa síwájú nínú àìwà-bí-Ọlọ́run.
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus;
Ọ̀rọ̀ wọn yóò sì máa fẹ́ bí egbò kíkẹ̀; nínú àwọn ẹni tí Himeneu àti Filetu wà;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
àwọn ẹni tí ó ti ṣìnà kúrò nínú òtítọ́, tí ń wí pé àjíǹde ti kọjá ná; tí wọ́n sì ń bi ìgbàgbọ́ àwọn mìíràn ṣubú.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Ṣùgbọ́n ìpìlẹ̀ Ọlọ́run tí ó dájú dúró ṣinṣin, ó ní èdìdì yìí, pé, “Olúwa mọ àwọn tí í ṣe tirẹ̀.” Àti pẹ̀lú, “Kí olúkúlùkù ẹni tí ń pé orúkọ Olúwa kúrò nínú àìṣòdodo.”
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.
Ṣùgbọ́n nínú ilé ńlá, kì í ṣe kìkì ohun èlò wúrà àti ti fàdákà nìkan ni ń bẹ, ṣùgbọ́n ti igi àti amọ̀ pẹ̀lú; àti òmíràn sí ọlá, àti òmíràn sí àìlọ́lá.
21 If a man therefore will cleanse himself from these, he will be a vessel to honor, sanctified and meet for the master's use, [and] prepared to every good work.
Bí ẹnikẹ́ni bá wẹ ara rẹ̀ mọ́ kúrò nínú ìwọ̀nyí, òun yóò jẹ́ ohun èlò sí ọlá, tí a yà sọ́tọ̀, tí ó sì yẹ fún ìlò baálé, tí a sì ti pèsè sílẹ̀ fún iṣẹ́ rere gbogbo.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Máa sá fún ìfẹ́kúfẹ̀ẹ́ èwe, sì máa lépa òdodo, ìgbàgbọ́, ìfẹ́, àlàáfíà, pẹ̀lú àwọn tí ń ké pe Olúwa láti inú ọkàn funfun wá.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they gender contentions.
Ìbéèrè òmùgọ̀ àti aláìní ẹ̀kọ́ nínú ni kí o kọ̀, bí o ti mọ̀ pe wọn máa dá ìjà sílẹ̀.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not contend; but be gentle to all [men], apt to teach, patient,
Ìránṣẹ́, Olúwa kò sì gbọdọ̀ jà; bí kò ṣe kí ó jẹ́ ẹni pẹ̀lẹ́ sí ènìyàn gbogbo ẹni tí ó lè kọ́ni, àti onísùúrù.
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth:
Ẹni tí yóò máa kọ́ àwọn alátakò pẹ̀lú ìwà tútù, ní ìrètí pé Ọlọ́run lè fún wọn ní ìrònúpìwàdà sí ìmọ̀ òtítọ́,
26 And [that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
wọn ó sì lè bọ́ kúrò nínú ìdẹ̀kùn èṣù, lẹ́yìn ìgbà tí ó ti mú wọn láti ṣe ìfẹ́ rẹ̀.
