2 Samuel 8
1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg-ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
কালক্রমে, দাউদ ফিলিস্তিনীদের পরাজিত করে তাদের বশীভূত করলেন, ও তিনি ফিলিস্তিনীদের হাত থেকে মেথগ-অম্মা ছিনিয়ে এনেছিলেন।
2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines he measured to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And [so] the Moabites became David's servants, [and] brought gifts.
দাউদ মোয়াবীয়দেরও পরাজিত করলেন। তিনি তাদের মাটিতে শুয়ে পড়তে বাধ্য করলেন ও তাদের এক নির্দিষ্ট মাপের দড়ি দিয়ে মেপেছিলেন। এক এক করে তাদের মধ্যে দড়ির মাপানুযায়ী দুই দড়ি বিস্তৃত এলাকার লোকজনকে হত্যা করা হল, ও পরবর্তী এক দড়ি বিস্তৃত এলাকার লোকজনকে বেঁচে থাকার সুযোগ দেওয়া হল। তাই মোয়াবীয়রা দাউদের বশীভূত হল ও তাঁর কাছে রাজকর নিয়ে এসেছিল।
3 David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
এছাড়াও, সোবার রাজা রহোবের ছেলে হদদেষর যখন ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর কাছে তাঁর স্মৃতিসৌধটি পুনরুদ্ধার করতে গেলেন, তখন দাউদ তাঁকেও পরাজিত করলেন।
4 And David took from him a thousand [chariots], and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot -[horses], but reserved of them [for] a hundred chariots.
দাউদ তাঁর 1,000 রথ, 7,000 অশ্বারোহী ও 20,000 পদাতিক সৈন্য দখল করলেন। রথের সঙ্গে জুড়ে থাকা 100-টি ঘোড়া বাদ দিয়ে বাকি সব ঘোড়ার পায়ের শিরা কেটে তিনি সেগুলিকে খঞ্জ করে দিলেন।
5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
দামাস্কাসের অরামীয়রা যখন সোবার রাজা হদদেষরকে সাহায্য করতে এসেছিল, তখন দাউদ তাদের মধ্যে বাইশ হাজার জনকে যন্ত্রণা করে ফেলে দিলেন।
6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, [and] brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
তিনি দামাস্কাসের অরামীয় রাজ্যে সৈন্যদল মোতায়েন করে দিলেন, এবং অরামীয়রা তাঁর বশীভূত হয়ে তাঁর কাছে রাজকর নিয়ে এসেছিল। দাউদ যেখানে যেখানে গেলেন, সদাপ্রভু সেখানে সেখানে তাঁকে বিজয়ী করলেন।
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
দাউদ হদদেষরের কর্মকর্তাদের অধিকারে থাকা সোনার ঢালগুলি জেরুশালেমে নিয়ে এলেন।
8 And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took very much brass.
হদদেষরের অধিকারে থাকা টিভৎ ও বেরোথা নগর দুটি থেকে রাজা দাউদ প্রচুর পরিমাণে ব্রোঞ্জ নিয়ে এলেন।
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
হমাতের রাজা তোয়ু যখন শুনেছিলেন যে দাউদ হদদেষরের সম্পূর্ণ সৈন্যদলকে পরাজিত করেছেন,
10 Then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: (for Hadadezer had wars with Toi) and [Joram] brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
তখন তিনি তাঁকে শুভেচ্ছা ও হদদেষরের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধজয়ের অভিনন্দন জানানোর জন্য তাঁর ছেলে যোরামকে দাউদের কাছে পাঠালেন, কারণ হদদেষরের সঙ্গে তয়িরেরও অনবরত যুদ্ধ লেগেই থাকত। যোরাম সাথে করে রুপো, সোনা ও ব্রোঞ্জের তৈরি জিনিসপত্র নিয়ে এলেন।
11 Which also king David dedicated to the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
রাজা দাউদ এইসব জিনিসপত্র সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশে উৎসর্গ করে দিলেন, যেভাবে তিনি নিজের বশে আনা অন্য সব জাতির কাছ থেকে সংগ্রহ করা রুপো ও সোনার ক্ষেত্রেও করলেন:
12 Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
অর্থাৎ, ইদোমীয় ও মোয়াবীয়, অম্মোনীয় ও ফিলিস্তিনী, এবং অমালেকীয়দের কাছ থেকে। তিনি সোবার রাজা রহোবের ছেলে হদদেষরের কাছ থেকে পাওয়া লুন্ঠিত জিনিসপত্রও উৎসর্গ করে দিলেন।
13 And David made [him] a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of Salt, [being] eighteen thousand [men].
লবণ উপত্যকায় আঠারো হাজার ইদোমীয়কে শেষ করে ফিরে আসার পর দাউদ বিখ্যাত হয়ে গেলেন।
14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
তিনি ইদোম দেশের সর্বত্র সৈন্যদল মোতায়েন করে দিলেন, ও ইদোমীয়রা সবাই দাউদের বশীভূত হল। দাউদ যেখানে যেখানে গেলেন, সদাপ্রভু সেখানে সেখানে তাঁকে বিজয়ী করলেন।
15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice to all his people.
দাউদ সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের উপর রাজত্ব করলেন, ও তাঁর সব প্রজার জন্য যা যা ন্যায্য ও উপযুক্ত ছিল, তিনি তাই করতেন।
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah [was] over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud [was] recorder;
সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াব সৈন্যদলের প্রধান সেনাপতি ছিলেন; অহীলূদের ছেলে যিহোশাফট ছিলেন লিপিকার;
17 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, [were] the priests: and Seraiah [was] the scribe;
অহীটূবের ছেলে সাদোক ও অবিয়াথরের ছেলে অহীমেলক ছিলেন যাজক; সরায় ছিলেন সচিব;
18 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was over] both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
যিহোয়াদার ছেলে বনায় করেথীয় ও পলেথীয়দের উপর নিযুক্ত ছিলেন; এবং দাউদের ছেলেরা ছিলেন যাজক।
