2 Samuel 22
1 And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day [that] the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul:
Davide rivolse all’Eterno le parole di questo cantico quando l’Eterno l’ebbe riscosso dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici e dalla mano di Saul. Egli disse:
2 And he said, The LORD [is] my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
“L’Eterno è la mia ròcca, la mia fortezza, il mio liberatore;
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: [he is] my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my preserver; thou savest me from violence.
l’Iddio ch’è la mia rupe, in cui mi rifugio, il mio scudo, il mio potente salvatore, il mio alto ricetto, il mio asilo. O mio salvatore, tu mi salvi dalla violenza!
4 I will call on the LORD, [who is] worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Io invocai l’Eterno ch’è degno d’ogni lode, e fui salvato dai miei nemici.
5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly-men made me afraid;
Le onde della morte m’avean circondato e i torrenti della distruzione m’aveano spaventato.
I legami del soggiorno de’ morti m’aveano attorniato, i lacci della morte m’aveano còlto. (Sheol h7585)
7 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God: and he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry [entered] into his ears.
Nella mia distretta invocai l’Eterno, e gridai al mio Dio. Egli udì la mia voce dal suo tempio, e il mio grido pervenne ai suoi orecchi.
8 Then the earth shook and trembled: the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
Allora la terra fu scossa e tremò i fondamenti de’ cieli furono smossi e scrollati, perch’egli era acceso d’ira.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
Un fumo saliva dalle sue nari; un fuoco consumante gli usciva dalla bocca, e ne procedevano carboni accesi.
10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness [was] under his feet.
Egli abbassò i cieli e discese, avendo sotto i piedi una densa caligine.
11 And he rode upon a cherub, and flew: and he was seen upon the wings of the wind.
Cavalcava sopra un cherubino e volava ed appariva sulle ali del vento.
12 And he made darkness pavilions around him, dark waters, [and] thick clouds of the skies.
Avea posto intorno a sé, come un padiglione, le tenebre, le raccolte d’acque, le dense nubi de’ cieli.
13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
Dallo splendore che lo precedeva, si sprigionavano carboni accesi.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
L’Eterno tuonò dai cieli e l’Altissimo diè fuori la sua voce.
15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.
Avventò saette, e disperse i nemici; lanciò folgori, e li mise in rotta.
16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were laid open, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
Allora apparve il letto del mare, e i fondamenti del mondo furono scoperti allo sgridare dell’Eterno, al soffio del vento delle sue nari.
17 He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
Egli distese dall’alto la mano mi prese, mi trasse fuori dalle grandi acque.
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
Mi riscosse dal mio potente nemico, da quelli che mi odiavano; perch’eran più forti di me.
19 They fell upon me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my support.
Essi m’eran piombati addosso nel dì della mia calamità, ma l’Eterno fu il mio sostegno.
20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Egli mi trasse fuori al largo, mi liberò perché mi gradisce.
21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
L’Eterno mi ha retribuito secondo la mia giustizia, mi ha reso secondo la purità dello mie mani,
22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
poiché ho osservato le vie dell’Eterno e non mi sono empiamente sviato dal mio Dio.
23 For all his judgments [were] before me: and [as for] his statutes, I did not depart from them.
Poiché ho tenuto tutte le sue leggi davanti a me, e non mi sono allontanato dai suoi statuti.
24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from my iniquity.
E sono stato integro verso di lui, e mi son guardato dalla mia iniquità.
25 Therefore the LORD hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye-sight.
Ond’è che l’Eterno m’ha reso secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la mia purità nel suo cospetto.
26 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful, [and] with the upright man thou wilt show thyself upright.
Tu ti mostri pietoso verso il pio, integro verso l’uomo integro;
27 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt contend.
ti mostri puro col puro e ti mostri astuto col perverso;
28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thy eyes [are] upon the haughty, [that] thou mayest bring [them] down.
tu salvi la gente afflitta, e il tuo sguardo si ferma sugli alteri, per abbassarli.
29 For thou [art] my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
Sì, tu sei la mia lampada, o Eterno, e l’Eterno illumina le mie tenebre.
30 For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Con te io assalgo tutta una schiera, col mio Dio salgo sulle mura.
31 [As for] God, his way [is] perfect; the word of the LORD [is] tried: he [is] a buckler to all them that trust in him.
La via di Dio è perfetta, la parola dell’Eterno è purgata col fuoco. Egli è lo scudo di tutti quelli che sperano in lui.
32 For who [is] God, save the LORD? and who [is] a rock, save our God?
Poiché chi è Dio fuor del l’Eterno? E chi è Ròcca fuor del nostro Dio?
33 God [is] my strength [and] power: and he maketh my way perfect.
Iddio è la mia potente fortezza, e rende la mia via perfetta.
34 He maketh my feet like hinds' [feet]: and setteth me upon my high places.
Egli rende i miei piedi simili a quelli delle cerve e mi rende saldo sui miei alti luoghi.
35 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.
Egli ammaestra le mie mani alla battaglia e le mie braccia tendono un arco di rame.
36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.
Tu m’hai anche dato lo scudo della tua salvezza, e la tua benignità m’ha fatto grande.
37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet have not slipped.
Tu hai allargato la via ai miei passi; e i miei piedi non hanno vacillato.
38 I have pursued my enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
Io ho inseguito i miei nemici e li ho distrutti, e non son tornato addietro prima d’averli annientati.
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yea, they have fallen under my feet.
Li ho annientati, schiacciati; e non son risorti; son caduti sotto i miei piedi.
40 For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.
Tu m’hai cinto di forza per la guerra, tu hai fatto piegare sotto di me i miei avversari;
41 Thou hast also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
hai fatto voltar le spalle davanti a me ai miei nemici, a quelli che m’odiavano, ed io li ho distrutti.
42 They looked, but [there was] none to save; [even] to the LORD, but he answered them not.
Hanno guardato, ma non vi fu chi li salvasse; han gridato all’Eterno, ma egli non rispose loro;
43 Then I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I stamped them as the mire of the street, [and] spread them abroad.
io li ho tritati come polvere della terra, li ho pestati, calpestati, come il fango delle strade.
44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people, thou hast kept me [to be] head of the heathen: a people [which] I knew not shall serve me.
Tu m’hai liberato dalle dissensioni del mio popolo, m’hai conservato capo di nazioni; un popolo che non conoscevo m’è stato sottoposto.
45 Strangers shall submit themselves to me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient to me.
I figli degli stranieri m’hanno reso omaggio, al solo udir parlare di me, m’hanno prestato ubbidienza.
46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall tremble from their close places.
I figli degli stranieri son venuti meno, sono usciti tremanti dai loro ripari.
47 The LORD liveth; and blessed [be] my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
Viva l’Eterno! Sia benedetta la mia ròcca! e sia esaltato Iddio, la ròcca della mia salvezza!
48 It [is] God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,
l’Iddio che fa la mia vendetta, e mi sottomette i popoli,
49 And that bringeth me forth from my enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
che mi trae dalle mani dei miei nemici. Sì, tu mi sollevi sopra i miei avversari mi riscuoti dall’uomo violento.
50 Therefore I will give thanks to thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to thy name.
Perciò, o Eterno, ti loderò fra le nazioni, e salmeggerò al tuo nome.
51 [He is] the tower of salvation for his king: and [he] showeth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
Grandi liberazioni egli accorda al suo re, ed usa benignità verso il suo unto, verso Davide e la sua progenie in perpetuo”.
