2 Samuel 12
1 And the LORD sent Nathan to David. And he came to him, and said to him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
So sandte der Herr den Natan zu David. Er kam zu ihm und sagte ihm: "Zwei Männer waren in einer gewissen Stadt, der eine reich, der andere arm.
2 The rich [man] had very numerous flocks and herds:
Der Reiche besaß Schafe und Rinder in großer Zahl.
3 But the poor [man] had nothing save one little ewe-lamb, which he had bought and nourished: and it grew up together with him, and with his children: it fed of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was to him as a daughter.
Der Arme aber hatte nichts als ein einziges Lämmchen, das er gekauft hatte. Er zog es auf, und es wuchs bei ihm auf mit seinen Kindern zusammen. Von seinem Bissen aß es, aus seinem Becher trank es und schlief an seinem Busen. Es galt ihm wie ein Kind.
4 And there came a traveler to the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the way-faring man that had come to him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that had come to him.
Da kam Besuch zu dem reichen Manne. Ihm aber war es leid, eines seiner Schafe und Rinder zu nehmen, um es dem Gast, der zu ihm gekommen, zuzubereiten. So nahm er das Lamm des armen Mannes und bereitete es dem Manne, der zu ihm gekommen war."
5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, [As] the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this [thing] shall surely die:
Da ward David über den Mann sehr zornig und sprach zu Natan: "So wahr der Herr lebt! Der Mann, der dies getan, ist ein Kind des Todes.
6 And he shall restore the lamb four-fold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
Und das Lamm muß er vierfach erstatten, dafür, daß er dies getan und kein Erbarmen geübt hat."
7 And Nathan said to David, Thou [art] the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee from the hand of Saul;
Da sprach Natan zu David: "Du selbst bist der Mann. So spricht der Herr, Israels Gott: 'Ich habe dich zum König über Israel gesalbt. Ich habe dich aus der Hand des Saul gerettet.
8 And I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if [that had been] too little, I would moreover have given to thee such and such things.
Ich gab dir deines Herrn Haus, die Weiber deines Herrn an deinen Busen. Ich gab dir Israels und Judas Haus. Und wäre das zu wenig, so wollte ich dir noch dies und das geben.
9 Why hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? thou hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife [to be] thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
Warum hast du des Herren Wort mißachtet und das getan, was ihm mißfällt? Du hast Urias, den Chittiter, mit dem Schwert erschlagen und hast dir seine Frau zum Weib genommen. Du hast ihn durch der Ammoniter Schwert ermordet.
10 Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thy house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
Nun weiche nie das Schwert aus deinem eigenen Hause, zur Strafe dafür, daß du mich mißachtet, daß du das Weib Urias´, des Chittiters, dir zum Weibe nahmst!'
11 Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thy own house, and I will take thy wives before thy eyes, and give [them] to thy neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
So spricht der Herr: 'Ich lasse einen Nebenbuhler dir aus deinem Haus erstehen. Ich nehme weg vor deinen Augen deine Weiber und gebe diese deinem Nebenbuhler, daß er im Angesichte dieser Sonne deinen Weibern beiwohne.
12 For thou didst [it] secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
Du hast es heimlich zwar getan. Ich aber tue dies im Angesicht des ganzen Israel und vor der Sonne.'"
13 And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said to David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
Da sprach David zu Natan: "Ich habe gegen den Herrn gesündigt." Da sprach Natan zu David: "So sieht der Herr dir auch deine Sünde nach. Du wirst nicht sterben.
14 But, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also [that is] born to thee shall surely die.
Weil du aber auf die Feinde des Herrn dabei keine Rücksicht genommen, soll auch der Sohn, der dir geboren ward, sterben."
15 And Nathan departed to his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it was very sick.
Und Natan ging nach Hause. Der Herr aber schlug das Kind, das des Urias Witwe dem David geboren hatte. Es ward todkrank.
16 David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
Da suchte David um des Knaben willen Gott auf. Und David fastete streng, hielt Nachtwache und lag über Nacht auf der Erde.
17 And the elders of his house arose, [and went] to him, to raise him from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
Da traten die Ältesten seines Hauses zu ihm, ihn vom Boden aufzuheben. Er aber wollte nicht und genoß keine Speise mit ihnen.
18 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold while the child was yet alive, we spoke to him, and he would not hearken to our voice: how will he then be grieved, if we tell him that the child is dead?
Am siebten Tage starb der Knabe. Da fürchteten sich Davids Diener, ihm zu sagen, der Knabe sei tot. Denn sie sagten: "Solange der Knabe lebte, haben wir ihm zugeredet; aber er gab uns kein Gehör. Wie können wir ihm sagen: 'Der Knabe ist tot!' Er könnte Unheil anrichten."
19 But when David saw that his servants whispered, David perceived that the child was dead: therefore David said to his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
David aber sah seine Diener miteinander flüstern. Da erkannte David, daß der Knabe tot war. Und David sprach zu seinen Dienern: "Ist der Knabe gestorben?" Sie sagten: "Ja."
20 Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed [himself], and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshiped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he ate.
Da stand David vom Boden auf, wusch sich und salbte sich und wechselte sein Gewand. Dann ging er in das Haus des Herrn und warf sich nieder. Hierauf ging er in sein eigen Haus und verlangte etwas. Da setzten sie ihm Speise vor, und er aß.
21 Then said his servants to him, What thing [is] this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, [while it was] alive; but after the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
Da sprachen seine Diener zu ihm: "Was für ein Gebaren ist dies, das du zeigst? Als der Knabe noch lebte, hast du gefastet, dazu weintest du. Und nun, da der Knabe tot ist, stehst du auf und genießest Speise?"
22 And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted, and wept: for I said, Who can tell [whether] God will be gracious to me, that the child may live?
Da sprach er: "Solange der Knabe lebte, habe ich gefastet und dazu geweint, weil ich gedacht habe: 'Wer weiß? Der Herr kann sich meiner erbarmen, daß der Knabe leben bleibt.'
23 But now he is dead, Why should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.
Nun ist er aber tot. Wozu sollte ich fasten? Kann ich ihn wieder zurückbringen? Ich gehe zu ihm. Aber er kommt nicht wieder zu mir."
24 And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in to her, and lay with her: and she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.
Und David tröstete sein Weib Batseba. Er ging zu ihr und wohnte ihr bei. Da gebar sie einen Sohn und sie nannte ihn Salomo. Und der Herr hatte ihn lieb.
25 And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, because of the LORD.
Und durch den Propheten Natan ließ er ihn Jedidia nennen wegen des Herrn.
26 And Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
Joab aber bestürmte das ammonitische Rabba und eroberte die Königsstadt.
27 And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, and have taken the city of waters.
Da sandte Joab Boten zu David und ließ melden: "Ich habe Rabba bestürmt und die Zufluchtsstadt erobert.
28 Now therefore collect the rest of the people, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
Nun sammle den Rest des Volkes! Bestürme die Stadt und erobere sie vollends, damit nicht ich die Stadt erobere und mein Name darüber genannt würde!"
29 And David collected all the people, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
Da sammelte David alles Volk und zog nach Rabba, bestürmte und eroberte es.
30 And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight of which [was] a talent of gold with the precious stones: and it was [set] on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.
Dann nahm er die Krone Milkoms von dessen Kopf. Sie wog ein Talent Gold, dabei war ein Edelstein, und er kam auf Davids Haupt. Die Beute der Stadt führte er in großer Menge heim.
31 And he brought forth the people that [were] in it, and put [them] under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brick-kiln: and thus he did to all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
Das Volk darin aber hatte er herausgeführt; dann legte er Feuerbrände an und hieb und stach mit Eisen darein; sie selber aber hatte er der Königsfron überwiesen. So tat er mit allen Ammoniterstädten. Dann kehrten David und das ganze Volk nach Jerusalem zurück.
