2 Samuel 11
1 And it came to pass, after the year had expired, at the time when kings go forth [to battle], that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and destroyed Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
और ऐसा हुआ कि दूसरे साल जिस वक़्त बादशाह जंग के लिए निकलते हैं, दाऊद ने योआब और उसके साथ अपने ख़ादिमों और सब इस्राईलियों को भेजा, और उन्होंने बनी अम्मोन को क़त्ल किया और रब्बा को जा घेरा पर दाऊद येरूशलेम ही में रहा।
2 And it came to pass in an evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon.
और शाम के वक़्त दाऊद अपने पलंग पर से उठकर बादशाही महल की छत पर टहलने लगा, और छत पर से उसने एक 'औरत को देखा जो नहा रही थी, और वह 'औरत निहायत ख़ूबसूरत थी।
3 And David sent and inquired after the woman. And [one] said, [Is] not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
तब दाऊद ने लोग भेजकर उस 'औरत का हाल दरयाफ़्त किया, और किसी ने कहा, “क्या वह इलीआम की बेटी बतसबा नहीं जो हित्ती ऊरिय्याह की बीवी है?”
4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned to her house.
और दाऊद ने लोग भेजकर उसे बुला लिया, वह उसके पास आई और उसने उससे सोहबत की (क्यूँकि वह अपनी नापाकी से पाक हो चुकी थी) फिर वह अपने घर को चली गई।
5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I [am] with child.
और वह औरत हाम्ला हो गई, तब उसने दाऊद के पास ख़बर भेजी कि “मैं हाम्ला हूँ।”
6 And David sent to Joab, [saying], Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
और दाऊद ने योआब को कहला भेजा कि “हित्ती ऊरिय्याह को मेरे पास भेज दे।” इसलिए योआब ने ऊरिय्याह को दाऊद के पास भेज दिया।
7 And when Uriah had come to him, David inquired [of him] how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
और जब ऊरिय्याह आया तो दाऊद ने पूछा कि योआब कैसा है और लोगों का क्या हाल है और जंग कैसी हो रही है?
8 And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess [of meat] from the king.
फिर दाऊद ने ऊरिय्याह से कहा कि “अपने घर जा और अपने पाँव धो।” और ऊरिय्याह बादशाह के महल से निकला और बादशाह की तरफ़ से उसके पीछे पीछे एक ख़्वान भेजा गया।
9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.
लेकिन ऊरिय्याह बादशाह के घर के आस्ताना पर अपने मालिक के और सब ख़ादिमों के साथ सोया और अपने घर न गया।
10 And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down to his house, David said to Uriah, Camest thou not from [thy] journey? why [then] didst thou not go down to thy house?
और जब उन्होंने दाऊद को यह बताया कि “ऊरिय्याह अपने घर नहीं गया। तो दाऊद ने ऊरिय्याह से कहा, क्या तू सफ़र से नहीं आया? तब तू अपने घर क्यों नहीं गया?”
11 And Uriah said to David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? [as] thou livest, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
ऊरिय्याह ने दाऊद से कहा कि “संदूक़ और इस्राईल और यहूदाह झोंपड़ियों में रहते हैं और मेरा मालिक योआब और मेरे मालिक के ख़ादिम खुले मैदान में डेरे डाले हुए हैं तो क्या मैं अपने घर जाऊँ और खाऊँ पियूँ और अपनी बीवी के साथ सोऊँ? तेरी हयात और तेरी जान की क़सम मुझसे यह बात न होगी।”
12 And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day and the morrow.
फिर दाऊद ने ऊरिय्याह से कहा कि “आज भी तू यहीं रह जा, कल मैं तुझे रवाना कर दूँगा।” इसलिए ऊरिय्याह उस दिन और दूसरे दिन भी येरूशलेम में रहा।
13 And when David had called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk: and at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.
और जब दाऊद ने उसे बुलाया तो उसने उसके सामने खाया पिया और उसने उसे पिलाकर मतवाला किया और शाम को वह बाहर जाकर अपने मालिक के और ख़ादिमों के साथ अपने बिस्तर पर सो रहा पर अपने घर को न गया।
14 And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent [it] by the hand of Uriah.
सुबह को दाऊद ने योआब के लिए ख़त लिखा और उसे ऊरिय्याह के हाथ भेजा।
15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the front of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
और उसने ख़त में यह लिखा कि “ऊरिय्याह को जंग में सबसे आगे रखना और तुम उसके पास से हट जाना ताकि वह मारा जाए और जाँ बहक़ हो।”
16 And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew that valiant men [were].
और यूँ हुआ कि जब योआब ने उस शहर का जाइज़ा कर लिया तो उसने ऊरिय्याह को ऐसी जगह रख्खा जहाँ वह जानता था कि बहादुर मर्द हैं।
17 And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell [some] of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
और उस शहर के लोग निकले ओर योआब से लड़े और वहाँ दाऊद के ख़ादिमों में से थोड़े से लोग काम आए और हित्ती ऊरिय्याह भी मर गया।
18 Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;
तब योआब ने आदमी भेज कर जंग का सब हाल दाऊद को बताया।
19 And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war to the king,
और उसने क़ासिद को नसीहत कर दी कि “जब तू बादशाह से जंग का सब हाल बयां कर चुके।
20 And if the king's wrath shall rise, and he shall say to thee, Why approached ye so nigh to the city for the fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?
तब अगर ऐसा हो कि बादशाह को ग़ुस्सा आ जाये और वह तुझसे कहने लगे कि तुम लड़ने को शहर के ऐसे नज़दीक क्यों चले गये? क्या तुम नहीं जानते थे कि वह दीवार पर से तीर मारेंगे?
21 Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
यरोब्बुसत के बेटे अबीमलिक को किसने मारा? क्या एक 'औरत ने चक्की का पात दीवार परसे उसके ऊपर ऐसा नहीं फेंका कि वह तैबिज़ में मर गया? इसलिए तुम शहर की दीवार के नज़दीक क्यों गये? तो फिर तू कहना कि तेरा ख़ादिम हित्ती ऊरिय्याह भी मर गया।”
22 So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.
तब वह क़ासिद चला और आकर जिस काम के लिए योआब ने उसे भेजा था वह सब दाऊद को बताया।
23 And the messenger said to David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were upon them even to the entrance of the gate.
और उस क़ासिद ने दाऊद से कहा “कि वह लोग हमपर ग़ालिब हुए और निकल कर मैदान में हमारे पास आगए, फिर हम उनको दौड़ाते हुए फाटक के मदख़ल तक चले गये।
24 And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants: and [some] of the king's servants are dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
तब तीरंदाज़ों ने दीवार पर से तेरे ख़ादिमों पर तीर छोड़े, इसलिए बादशाह के थोड़े ख़ादिम भी मरे और तेरा ख़ादिम हित्ती ऊरिय्याह भी मर गया।”
25 Then David said to the messenger, Thus shalt thou say to Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
तब दाऊद ने क़ासिद से कहा कि, “तू योआब से यूँ कहना कि तुझे इस बात से ना ख़ुशी न हो इसलिए कि तलवार जैसा एक को उड़ाती है वैसा ही दूसरे को, इसलिए तू शहर से और सख़्त जंग करके उसे ढा दे और तू उसे हिम्मत देना।”
26 And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.
जब और्य्याह की बीवी ने सुना कि उसका शौहर ऊरिय्याह मर गया तो वह अपने शौहर के लिए मातम करने लगी।
27 And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
और जब मातम के दिन गुज़र गए तो दाऊद ने बुलवाकर उसको अपने महल में रख लिया और वह उसकी बीवी हो गई और उससे उसके एक लड़का हुआ पर उस काम से जिसे दाऊद ने किया था ख़ुदावन्द नाराज़ हुआ।
