2 Samuel 11
1 And it came to pass, after the year had expired, at the time when kings go forth [to battle], that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and destroyed Rabbah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.
೧ರಾಜರೆಲ್ಲರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವಸಂತಕಾಲದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಡುವ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನನ್ನೂ, ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಇವರು ಹೋಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡಿ ರಬ್ಬಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
2 And it came to pass in an evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon.
೨ಅವನು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಸಂಜೆ ಹೊತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಹು ಸುಂದರಿಯಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡನು.
3 And David sent and inquired after the woman. And [one] said, [Is] not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?
೩ಕೂಡಲೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು, “ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಯಾರು?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಲು ಅವನು, “ಆಕೆಯು ಎಲೀಯಾಮನ ಮಗಳೂ, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಬತ್ಷೆಬೆ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned to her house.
೪ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಆಗ ತಾನೇ ಋತುಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ತರುವಂತೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಬರಲು ಅವನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಂಗಮಿಸಿದನು. ಅನಂತರ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದಳು.
5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I [am] with child.
೫ಆಕೆಯು ತಾನು ಗರ್ಭಧರಿಸಿದ್ದು ಗೊತ್ತಾದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಳು.
6 And David sent to Joab, [saying], Send me Uriah the Hittite. And Joab sent Uriah to David.
೬ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ದೂತರ ಮುಖಾಂತರವಾಗಿ ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ, “ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
7 And when Uriah had come to him, David inquired [of him] how Joab did, and how the people did, and how the war prospered.
೭ಊರೀಯನು ಬಂದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನು, “ಯೋವಾಬನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸೈನ್ಯದವರೂ ಹೇಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಯುದ್ಧವು ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ?” ಎಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದ, ನಂತರ
8 And David said to Uriah, Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess [of meat] from the king.
೮ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಕೈಕಾಲು ತೊಳೆದುಕೋ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಊರೀಯನು ಅರಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಟ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆಯೆ ಅರಸನ ಭೋಜನ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳು ಹೋದವು.
9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.
೯ಆದರೆ ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗದೆ ಅರಸನ ಸೇವಕರೊಡನೆ ಅರಮನೆಯ ಬಾಗಿಲಲ್ಲೇ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
10 And when they had told David, saying, Uriah went not down to his house, David said to Uriah, Camest thou not from [thy] journey? why [then] didst thou not go down to thy house?
೧೦ಊರೀಯನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಊರೀಯನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿಯಲ್ಲಾ, ಯಾಕೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ?” ಅಂದನು.
11 And Uriah said to David, The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? [as] thou livest, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.
೧೧ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಊರೀಯನು, “ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವೂ, ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೂ, ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರೂ ಗುಡಾರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ನನ್ನ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಯೋವಾಬನೂ, ಅವನ ಸೇವಕರೂ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೀಗಿರುವಾಗ ನಾನು ಮಾತ್ರ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಊಟಮಾಡಿ, ಕುಡಿದು, ಹೆಂಡತಿಯೊಡನೆ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಹೇಗೆ? ನಿನ್ನಾಣೆ, ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವದ ಆಣೆ, ನಾನು ಇಂಥದ್ದನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
12 And David said to Uriah, Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart. So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day and the morrow.
೧೨ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಇರು. ನಾಳೆ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಊರೀಯನು ಆ ದಿನ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದನು.
13 And when David had called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk: and at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house.
೧೩ಮರುದಿನ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅನ್ನಪಾನಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ, ಮತ್ತನನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಆದರೆ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯಜಮಾನನ ಸೇವಕರ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹಾಸಿಗೆ ಹಾಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನೇ ಹೊರತು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
14 And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent [it] by the hand of Uriah.
೧೪ಮರುದಿನ ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಬರೆದು ಅದನ್ನು ಊರೀಯನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the front of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.
೧೫ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ, “ಊರೀಯನು ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡು ಸಾಯುವಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಘೋರ ಯುದ್ಧ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕಡೆ ಮುಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿ, ನೀವು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದನು.
16 And it came to pass, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew that valiant men [were].
೧೬ಯೋವಾಬನು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹಾಕುವಾಗ ಶೂರರಾದ ಶತ್ರುಸೈನಿಕರು ಎಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತಾರೆಂದು ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಊರೀಯನನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಿದನು.
17 And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and there fell [some] of the people of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also.
೧೭ಆ ಊರಿನ ಜನರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನೊಡನೆ ಕಾದಾಡಿದಾಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರು. ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನೂ ಸಹ ಸತ್ತನು.
18 Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;
೧೮ಅನಂತರ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಒಬ್ಬ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕರೆದು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಯುದ್ಧ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ತಿಳಿಸು.
19 And charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast made an end of telling the matters of the war to the king,
೧೯ನೀನು ಯುದ್ಧ ಸಮಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಅರಸನು ಕೋಪಗೊಂಡು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು,
20 And if the king's wrath shall rise, and he shall say to thee, Why approached ye so nigh to the city for the fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?
೨೦‘ನೀವು ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಶತ್ರುಗಳು ಊರಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಣಿಂದ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆಯುವರೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
21 Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went ye nigh the wall? then say thou, Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
೨೧ಯೆರುಬ್ಬೇಷೆತನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೇಕನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದವರು ಯಾರು ಎಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ತೇಬೇಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಬೀಸುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಳಲ್ಲವೇ. ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದದ್ದೇಕೆ?’ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ನೀನು, ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ಊರೀಯನು ಮೃತನಾದನೆಂದು ಹೇಳು” ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
22 So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.
೨೨ಆ ದೂತನು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೋವಾಬನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಯಂತೆ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ,
23 And the messenger said to David, Surely the men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were upon them even to the entrance of the gate.
೨೩“ಆ ಊರಿನವರು ಮಹಾಸೈನ್ಯಬಲದೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಯಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನವರೆಗೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದೆವು.
24 And the shooters shot from off the wall upon thy servants: and [some] of the king's servants are dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.
೨೪ಆಗ ಬಿಲ್ಲುಗಾರರು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾಣಗಳನ್ನು ಎಸೆದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಸತ್ತರು. ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ಊರೀಯನೂ ಸತ್ತನು” ಎಂದನು.
25 Then David said to the messenger, Thus shalt thou say to Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
೨೫ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾವೀದನು ದೂತನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ಹೋಗು, ಇದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ವ್ಯಸನಪಡಬೇಡ. ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿದರೆ, ನಾಳೆ ಇನ್ನೊಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನುಂಗುವುದು, ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಶೂರತನದಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಡಿರಿ ಎಂಬುದಾಗಿ ಅರಸನು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಧೈರ್ಯಪಡಿಸು” ಎಂದನು.
26 And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.
೨೬ಊರೀಯನ ಮರಣದ ವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯು ಕೇಳಿ ಗಂಡನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಗೋಳಾಡಿದಳು.
27 And when the mourning was past, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
೨೭ದುಃಖಕಾಲವು ತೀರಿದ ನಂತರ ದಾವೀದನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರತರಿಸಿ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆಕೆಯು ಅವನಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಳು. ದಾವೀದನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಈ ಕೃತ್ಯಗಳು ಯೆಹೋವನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದೂ, ಅನೀತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿತ್ತು.
